  1. What about whatshisface the death camp commandant who saved as many Jews as he could for as long as he was able.
  2. At least they grasped the basic concept of ducking.
  3. Whats really strange is that they still fought in formations at a time where firepower and accuracy ought to have rendered them obsolete.
  4. Would capturing the capitol have had a difference, of would Lincoln have gotten on a stagecoach and proceeded to surround the invaders, who necessarily had long lines of supply. Symbolism is important, but it's not all important. Capturing Stalingrad would have done little for the Germans as it was by that time a pile of rubble. In order to be sure of victory The South would have to disrupt the North's manufacturing base, which was always vastly superior to their own.
  5. Isn't the main reason why an old windows installation runs like crap that there are too many processes being loaded into memory at start up, and you can't configure them all to go away
  6. They like to talk about it because it's about them. Go figure. In other news Icelandic history appears to be gaining popularity in Iceland.
  7. You and me both. Due monday, 15 pages with notes. done about four. I'm counting on the appearance of a miracle of inspiration some time soon.
  8. The declaration of independence and the constitution, including state constitutions, are secular documents, but in their psychological impact one might regard them as sacred text to which an authority adheres, thou shalt not change scripture, you can only interpret it. This is because, in my opinion, they have been inextricably linked with a definition of independence and self reliance that makes up the core of American subjectivity, how they define themselves. Reformers battle against a perception of committing heresy.
  9. He's a figurehead, everybody says so. No power in the position. It is a bit strange that they chose a nobody to be a figurehead, but this is the stuff of political compromise.
  10. I'm not entirely sure what a registry does, just that every time you install something windows writes loads of crap into it, and that it doesn't necessarily go away after you uninstall. Other operating systems seem to manage fine without one. After X amount of years there is so much dusty old code in the registry it slows everything to a crawl.
  11. I wonder if you can get a discount on liposuction if you sell the blubber back to the clinic.
  12. Meh, minorities are people too, meaning they are rotten bastards or not to the same degree as everyone else. Their experience of discrimination on the sharp end of the stick doesn't change anything, it could just as easy make them more likely to return the favor.
  13. I vote Gromnir also.
  14. It seems to me that an official stamp of approval from the state would be a good thing, as it would help alleviate prejudice. The state doesn't need to tell people what to think, but it has to formulate some kind of response to discrimination. It seems to me that it is the conservative Christians, of the sort which are against homosexuality, that is hijacking the apparatus of the state, not the other way around. I can't understand why they feel threatened by gays wanting to get married, why don't they just get on with their lives ?.
  15. http://cooltown.dk/mms/bent.JPG I raise you Bent Stuckert. Calling him the Danish Walter Cronkite would be an overstatement as he doesn't really have much in the way of screen presence. He's been the face of giving updates on the most boring aspects of block politics for as long as anyone can remember though. ... And he's got a pot stew named after him, I think it's a curry dish. Never actually tasted it but it's supposed to be good.
  16. By the way I thought the only redeeming quality of AC 1 was the combat and movement.
  17. I guess the first question is can you skip the cut-scenes.
  18. Isn't Fallout Las Vegas a stand alone game? Is there something about the "layer cake" you don't like, or is it just it's method of delivery that rubs you the wrong way? Concerned about slippery slope? I think the time spent on such extras could be better spent building something proper. Take the Fallout DLCs as a forinstance. Instead of 3 not particularly good mini adons they could have spent their time making something worthwhile. Bethesda started this whole micro transaction trend back when they started charging pennies for a single suit of armor - and nothing else - adon. I think that was Morrowind.
  19. If the expansion/adon is officially dead then what is Fallout Las Vegas. I'm not sure I like this tendency, which has been growing for some while now, of charging money for negliable extra content. Well that's not true; I know I don't like it. I don't care if it's cheap and 'extras', I just don't want the game to be a layer cake were you pay as you eat, and the platinum Amex gamers get a significantly different experience. Yes that's a strange metaphor as you don't typically eat a cake from the bottom up, but you get the idea.

  21. Still, one can never have enough toilets.
  22. More toilets needed ?
  23. Why don't we just let people buy votes. 10.000 $ would get you one, 30.000, 3, and so on up to a maximum of 5. We could use the money for universal health care.
  24. Walsh, your venom is supremely delicious.
  25. Now now be fair. You get to chose between voting for the glorious leader, and voting for the glorious leader.
