  1. Brodwell-E is for sure going to be better, the question is just how much better. It's a bit iffy if they will be able to overcome the density problem.

The bigger question is, should they even be trying to overcome it. As things are going now, they are just making it smaller and denser and the gains are less and less as new generations come out.

  2. Well, I wouldn't exactly call something appearing on wccftech confirmed.  That said, if true, I wonder why the clocks on the 5960X are so much lower than the 5930K?  Can Intel simply not keep stable clocks any higher when cramming 8 cores on one die, or is it some kind of weird marketing ploy?

It's to do with density, the same thing happened with the 6-core processor.

  3. Could always just buy a cheap Pentium or whatever as a stopgap if it comes to the worst.

I was thinking the same thing. Buy a second hand cheap-ass Haswell and plug it in until the k versions come out.

  4. Is there any point to a mechanical keyboard? I have been using the Logitech wave keyboard+mouse combo for more then 4 years, never had an issue (with the keyboard).

  5. The SLI point is a good one, and I just can't answer that one at the moment.  It will come down to whether there will be anything in the future to push my system enough to warrant a second card.  Also, at that point, will it be more economical to sell my current card and get a GTX 980 or whatever instead?  Basically, I'm not going to worry about it too much, beyond getting a motherboard with at least 2 PCIe 3.0 slots.  I'll likely get that EVGA 780Ti I linked to, and if I do SLI it in the future, and temperatures become a problem, maybe I can engineer some kind of angled sleeve over it to direct the air away from the other card, space permitting?  I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

The problem is if the cards are too close, one will block the intake holes of the other card, there is nothing to be done about that.

    Example:

  6. EVGA, Palit and Gigabyte have the best versions of this card it seems.

If you are interested in reviews here are the links:

Open air coolers, which most custom designs are, might be a little quieter in solo operation, but because they exhaust hot air internally are less suitable for SLI. So depending on your likelihood of going SLI in future, decide whether you want to pick up a model with the stock blower cooler instead.

A good point to bare in mind, the stock coolers take the air from the tip of the card a blow it out the vents on the back of the case, while custom coolers take air from the face of the card and blow it inside the case.

  7. Not if it is engineered correctly; plate armor already has plenty of curved surfaces. Female armor is going to have a lower center of gravity because of the narrower shoulders, so chest bulges aren't going to upset the balance much. What you want to avoid are sharp corners and angles in the metal as those create stress points (which is why airplane windows are rounded).

I was being sarcastic in response to prime juntas post.

  8. Souls. If warriors gain abilities(including physical ones) from the power of their souls, it stands to reason that power is unisex, unless specificaly stated that women souls are inferior in some way.(which i would love, the butthurt would be hilarious)

I didn't say how, I said if. I doubt they will bother with stuff as meager as that.

I think it's best not to confused Boob Armor with armor adjusted for boobs.

    That way lies strawmen...

But wouldn't that make it mechanically flawed? I think she should wear armor that has no boob shape, full plate preferably.

  9. You haven't showed me a single shred of conclusive proof of women wearing plate armor. For ****s sake did you even watch the video you linked...

You are talking about mechanical flaws on a magical armor in a fantasy game? Grasping at straws much?

As for the woman in the tournament, well good for her. Now are you trying to compare a tournament with real fighting? Also look at her armor, it has boobs.

  10. A fictional setting should be internally consistent. If you want your male warriors to go into battle wearing giant golden codpieces and nothing else while the women wear functionally designed, meticulously crafted Nürnberg plate, then there should be some in-world explanation for that. To do that just because you like giant golden codpieces and lots of hard, muscular male flesh is careless, shoddy worldbuilding.

Oh? Then let's see if they explain how girls are as strong as the boys and a bunch of other things that don't conform to the real world...
