Ah, yes, performance leaks and performance expectations are wonderful things. AMD expected RDNA3 to outperform Ada Lovelace. The rumor mill expected a 40% IPC increase with Zen 5. Leaks said Intel is going to up the core count on the 14th gen i5s. Intel thought Meteor Lake would be able to outperform Raptor Lake. There were leaks once about how Battlemage was going to have 512MB of L2 cache. Karzak once expected that Temple of Elemental Evil is going to make people forget about Baldur's Gate 2.

You can guess thrice which one of those turned out to be true. :p

    What's Baldur's Gate?

  2. Furiosa. Arguably even better than Fury Road, if only it wasn't for the CGI... Don't get me wrong it doesn't ruin the film, but when compared to Fury Road it just leaves you wanting. The CGI wasn't terrible, but it was noticeable and the worst part is that they did it for the most random things...

Apart from the CGI, Furiosa is still better played by Charlize Theron, but on the other hand Chris Hemsworth killed the role. The story is also more coherent than in the first part and no weird audio issues, but on the other hand the music was not quite as good.

In the end what this move does best is hyping me up for part 3.

@BruceVC you may or may not find this interesting. After my favourite Russian blogger left Russia at the beginning of the war, inside information sort of dried out. Stumbled across this girl a few weeks ago, ethnic Tatar (she also has videos about the 190+ ethnic groups living together in the federation), but Russian citizen, giving insight into life in Russia. Her blogs are from the perspective of what I consider "enlightened" Russians, not the "bogans" from the "only in Russia" videos. If interested, you can find a 2 year old video on her channel where she explains why she isn't leaving and why politics doesn't interest her.

She doesn't mention the pricing of those electronics compared to before the sanctions. I always wondered if Kazakhstan taxes the goods that go through their country to Russia.

Based on recommendations, I made myself a list of shows to check out, as in at least watch a few episodes of each (depending on availability). Not necessarily in this order, just cut and past from posts above

    Kill la Kill
    Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders
    Bakemonogatari
    Code Geass
Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill
    Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

Edit to add (so I have them in one place)

    full metal alchemist

You won't be disappointed with whichever of these you pick. Well except maybe Jojo... 😛

About to start on my favourite slime hero (watched first episode a while ago), but otherwise at a bit of a loss what to watch next.

Of the top of my head, some random titles in a couple of different directions

    Bakemonogatari

    Code Geass

Based on you liking the slime isekai: Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill

    Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

Found some time on the train today to continue my slog through Children of Ruin.

I'll finish the book eventually, but it is not filling me with desire to read the third book once I am done.

I found it ok, but I never got around to book 3. Did start it, but I just wasn't in the mood for reading it. Have to give it a go one of these days.

When I think about the encounters that really stick out for me it's how silly some of the bosses are kitted out and how I defeated them with spreadsheets and cheese rather than tactical challenges. After that it's getting killed by a mob whose archers gun down the back line and make me reload or red, and finally it's the small number of encounters that made me think and play tactically... which seems to go away when the party gets more spreadsheet stuff and cheesey strats.

I think BG3 really knocked WotR on it's ass for me, because the Harpy fight alone is more interesting than the vast majority of non-random fights in WotR and too boot does a substantially better job at non-combat gameplay.

My only fear for BG3, apart from the Larian aroma, is that the spreadsheets look a tad too basic. Tbf I have yet to play the game myself.

For Owlcat games I fully agree they should cut them down by 1/3 and focus on encounters being more engaging. That being said, for such long games, if nothing else you always had the next level to look forward to and to keep you going.
