  1. Wrapped up with Control. Again I got the bug where I couldn't upgrade all my weapons even though I did all the quests, ie. missing one endless potential. Not that it matters as I am not fussed about finding all the secrets, just the interesting ones.

Probably going to play Alan Wake 2 next, but I kind of don't want to have epic store...

  2. No more delays to sanctions for NIS, our national refinery and oil/gas supplier. As of next week we are on reserves as Croatia will stop the transit of crude oil through their county. So either Gasprom (Russian company which owns majority) agrees to sell or it will have to nationalized. If it's nationalized, good bye to Russian cheap gas and a bad message for any foreign investments.

No, the nVidia driver turns off rebar anyway, except for whitelisted games. If you had an AMD card, then yes, definitely.

From what I saw you can force it, but yeah. Doesn't seem to bring much to the table apart from Intel Arc.

Two things: Control in your use case is much more limited by turning on full ray tracing than PCIE bandwidth, and secondly, well, even though 8 lanes on PCIE 3.0 seems a bit low by today's standards, it only becomes a really huge problem for your GPU when you run out of VRAM. Which on 1440p, with a 16GB model, isn't going to happen with Control. Or most other games at the moment. If any at all.

If you had an RTX 5060 (TI) or a RX 9060 XT with 8GB, then, well, the card would probably crap itself, even on PCIE 3.0 x16. Well, maybe not in Control, IIRC it just starts dropping texture quality or entire textures when VRAM gets low, but for games like Veilguard the 1% lows just drop by over 50%.

Yeah, I dropped RT to medium and gained almost 60 fps. I was kind of hoping to go all out in the game, but I guess it's too much. That being said I don't notice much difference between medium and ultra.

What I need to do is move to a new platform, even with the 6950x the system is showing it age. But on the other hand I don't want to spend 2k euros.

In other news, I managed to break 2 usb ports on my MB, by snagging the cables. Not once, not two times, by three times. You know what they say, third time's the charm... Good thing I have 10 more.

  5. The slot for the LAN card is forcing my GPU's PCIe slot to be x8, so now my GPU backplate is an additional cooler for my LAN as I had to move it one slot down which means there is a millimeter of space between the LAN card heatsink and the GPU backplate...

I need to get another cooler for my CPU and free up the first PCIe slot...

edit: no improvements in fps from it though, Control on 1440p Ultra with RT (ultra) is giving me around 60fps on x8 and x16. I have PCIe 3.0.

Just set the power target to 85%. If the 5070 TI is anything like the 4070 TI you'll end up with 95% of the performance for a lot less power drawn.

That's what I keep hearing and considering it's the anorexic version of the cooler it will probably be the first thing I do.

Edit: do you use 3rd party software for this (afterburner) or via powershell?

Also getting some new speakers and a dac. JBL 305P MKII and LSR 310 S, with the ifi audio zen dac 3. It should be a game changer compared to my old Altec Lansing VS4121.

Not a game changer, but better in some ways. You get more of everything and some clarity and you do need a high quality source. Switched from Spotify to Tidal.

Will probably pull the trigger on the 5070ti at some point soon.

Pulled the trigger. Order the Zotac Solid SFF OC 5070 Ti. Would have gotten the Asus Prime variant but it's not available and Palit, which is cheaper than Zotac, seems to have issues with fan bearings causing noise. The only negative with Zotac is that it's a 2 slot card, so probably less cooling performance.

Will see how my old Seasonic 660w gold PSU handles it. Should be fine...I hope.

As I see it there are three possibilities.

I'm thinking Guts will assimilate his shadow self (the beast of darkness) and thus become something that can actually challenge the God Hand (similar to Flora, not an apostle but like a level 15+ Fighter/Barbarian with supernatural powers), but he could make some sort of devil's bargain with the entity that sees him similarly transformed but more monstrous with a promise of a (more) bittersweet ending like Komamura in Bleach. The least likely is that he rejects the beast entirely, but the way it's been setup I don't think that's very thematic or interesting and it also leaves too much on the table.

Anyways it's nice to see it moving forward. Hopefully he doesn't spend 3 years inside of himself or wake up to find his friends got the same treatment Bruce's friends got in Absolute Batman.

    Spoiler

Could be, in my mind it was either him overcoming the darkness or accepting it and harnessing it.

I had the same feel, like starting the boat trip again. I don't think that will ever happen as the crew working on it now is being very lean with dialogue and just using it to move the story forward. So I can see this being 5 chapters max.

I just read through Absolute Superman today and wasn't that impressed with it, hopefully batman is better.
