  1.   Paladins can't do damage though. They die when you have a group attacking you. Example: Fight the 3 bandits holding the dwarf hostage at the beginning of the game. About to give that group a go!
  2. This doesn't take into account misses. That is one of the reasons why Dex > Mig. Another aspect is that Dex also reduces all animation time and more crucially, recovery time. DR also doesn't reduce 100% dmg if you do less dmg than DR value. Does Dex effect accuracy? It doesn't say it does in the attrib description... Not directly, but attacking more times in a given time span means more hits at the same accuracy.
  3. I got pretty deep into Act 1 with just Aloth and Eder, but you will definitely have difficulty with only 3 members.
  4. @Lasci I'm looking at Paladins now. I'm understanding a little bit more about the game every time I start a new character up, and MY GOD the defenses Paladins can have.
  5. The Wild Orlan racial got me thinking: when do you start seeing significant amount of Will attacks/spells? I've been starting up PotD+Expert (sometimes with Trial of Iron) playthroughs to test out builds for the early game, and the first major defense that really gets tested is Fortitude (phantom stunlocks). I'm assuming Will defenses are primarily checked against Charm and Dominate type spells. What other significant (in terms of frequency and/or magnitude) tests of Will can I expect to encounter further along in the game?
  6. You can right-click your way through most of Normal as long as you have Eder in the front of your formations.
  7. If you could figure out how to stay in the bottom half for a long time that's a lot of dps-relevant stats. I don't know how you'd do that reliably without some kind of weird self-damaging ability like the one that applies to implements (rods, etc? I forget).
  8. I would assume for a Full Attack with 2W you're suffering the DR penalty on each weapon strike, whereas the 2Her only suffers the DR penalty once. If your minimum damage for the 2H weapon is = minimum damage for each separate weapon added to together then you're essentially gaining 1DR worth of damage. I don't know the weapons in the game well enough to say how close that matches what's actually going on.
  9. There's a guy that commented in a Reddit thread a few days ago that claimed he had gotten to level 9 in Act 2(?) before dying because he took on soemthing he shouldn't (PotD+Ironman). Search for the thread, he laid, I believe, a complete build out. With regards to Fighter soloing, if you're on PotD, you need to get past the phantoms etc. in Stronghold then we can talk about Edge of Reason, no? Was this with a barbarian or a druid? Edge of Reason is in the stronghold? I have no idea where it is. <.<; Barb. I was about to take a test in like 2 minutes or I would have linked http://www.reddit.com/r/projecteternity/comments/30smai/solo_path_of_the_damned_expert_mode_trial_of_iron/ He's posted since the last time I read it. I said we can talk about EoR because I hadn't seen it in my Fighter playthrough and I had gotten at least into the yard of Caed Nua. I think that playthrough might be over thanks to stunlocking phantoms, though. Raerdic mobs hit like a truck, too.

  11. My problem with trying to solo with a Fighter is that they just don't have any systemic way to either deal lots of damage to one enemy or do AoE damage. You can last forever with high-Con and endurance recovery AND they have some accuracy buffs, though.
  12. Yep, that's how I got blunting belt as well as Fine Mail Armor for taking on the bears, and hopefully eventually parts of Raerdic's keep.
  13. I've only gotten to the Stronghold once, and it was with a fighter. Unfortunately fighters just don't have the means to do much damage
  14. https://forums.obsidian.net/blog/7/entry-179-patch-notes-103/ "Raised the bonus for having fewer than six party members from 5% per character under the limit to 10% per character under the limit." "Rebalanced fight difficulty and spell selection for the Old Watcher." "Set Transcendent Suffering to not be combat only." (this might mean you get to keep wounds between battles!)
  15. I knew about the baby sneak attack, but I didn't know it applied to spells! Also, aren't Skaen weapon proficiencies stiletto and flails? Are you thinking of going Gaun's Flail (the Draining one) and the dagger from Spider boss in Caed Nua?
  16. The only problem I had with the priest is that he seems seriously gimped in the lower levels (1-2 at the very least). Also, you might consider checking the priest's accuracy with a summon out. I read somewhere that priests give an accuracy bonus to party members but not themselves UNLESS there are no non-knocked out party members available for the buff (in which case the accuracy buff works on the priest). Good news from the Codex:
  17. I don't see an edit button on my previous post so I guess I'll post here again. On my non-ironman moon monk PotD+Expert (test run so I don't have to keep starting), I was able to kill the wolves in Valewood in the Ruins and found a +5 Deflection cape in a hidden spot underneath one of the archways. Is this also level-based loot or unique? Maybe someone with a higher level character could check? Is +5 deflection that slot of any particular use to anyone?
  18. I thought I read in a separate monk thread that the +shock damage is bugged to only deliver 1% of damage instead of 10%. Any idea if that's true? do you think decterity is needed at all if im relying on my wound fueled abilities to do dps? The dexterity "tooltip" at character creation only says that it gives %attack speed and some amount of Reflex which, according to Reflex tooltip, is for dodging AoE damage. If you're not relying on autoattack to do damage it looks like that's the dump stat if you're trying to get damage from abilities.
  19. I was talking about stealthing past shadows in the Eothas temple, not the stronghold. I haven't even begun to figure out how to beat the stronghold quest. Can you go back to the starting area? I wonder if I hadn't noticed the level-based loot because I started trying to maximize XP gain in the starting area...
  20. Dude you gotta try monk, the wound mechanic seems designed for solo play lol Yeah I really thought about it but I will try wizard first. Monk cant heal himself anyway right? I will consider it ty. I will eventually level one dont worry haha Thanks, i did not get that but surely that only helps on mobs that do cold damage??? Yes im playing PotD trial of iron because im just that sadistic lol. Also to clarify the only expoit i am using is pulling mobs seperately where possible, aside from that i live in corners pretty much all the time, my most dangerous fights are outside Sounds like you're taking on mobs you don't need to in the temple. When you enter you should be able to stealth into the room with the spiders and hug the SW wall, pass around the corner and into the little "dining hall" with 1-2 of the little pink piggy monsters (you probably have to kill at least one, maybe both although the 2nd isn't always there for some reason). Once downstairs you HAVE to kill the shadow in the first hallway, proceed thru SE door. You can stealth past BOTH of these shadows depending on how the 2nd one is patrolling (stealth 3, so far the 2nd one always starts at the end of the hall but he may have patrolled down the hall when you come back!). You need 3 mechanics + sleep in the room at the inn that gives +1 mech +1 perception (Laborer's Rest, I think) and however many lockpicks that takes (you should have plenty). After this I think you fight one more shadow MANDATORY (with my fire GL monk w/ horn, mail armor, minor prot. cape, ale, duc's beefloaf buffs) before you get down to the reflecting pool. Quickly sneak to the NE stairwell (in the next room there are kings and one little guy, you don't need to fight them, but you will use this corner against the slimes) and "yellow aggro" the slime to come closer. Drop stealth in aggro range and then run into corner, get whatever other buffs you brought (there are multiple ales and beers in the crate outside Ingroed's house, I think), and summon the animat if you have him (hopefully you do, b/c shadows are bitchy). I've seen this pull go 3 ways: you only get slimes (win), you get slimes and a shadow (manageable maybe), you get slimes and phantom and maybe shadow (you're going to get stunlocked ((). After this is dead priest room EZPZ. I think you can sneak past some packs in Caed Nua. I've decided to do a PotD Solo run just to gauge difficulty without Iron-manning it since I've restarted the game probably close to 20 times now with various classes because of unfortunate deaths. Regarding the chest on the 2nd floor of the Black Hound: I've not seen that freeze capeeven once. I've seen mostly Rings of Deflection, 2 Disengage capes (the sell for something like 100-200c so it isn't a total loss, but it's pretty bad comparatively), and one Poison/Disease effecting amulet (worthless in early game that I've seen). I'm always level 2 when I loot that thingie.
  21. When entering the ruined house area (trying to stay spoiler free), I noticed that changing my custom formation had no effect on where my characters were spawned. The positioning of certain.... elements in the house made this problematic as I was unable to move certain weaker characters in a satisfactory amount of time. I found, however, that changing the portrait order on the bottom changed where characters were spawned upon entering the area. Any chance this could be amended to be clearer? Seems like there's some left hand and right hand disagreement.
