Male or Female
SupidSeep replied to constantine's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
As a man, I can relate to both patterns: When I play males, it's a reflection of an idealised me; when I create a female charactor, she reflects my ideal woman. In Baldur's Gate 2 - my male char is a Fighter/Mage/Thief who plays as a Jack-of-all-trades and forward scout/backstabber (I don't see myself as a leader figure) - my female char is an Undead Hunter who leads from the front (I also have female Ranger/Clerics and Swashbucklers; all are frontliners) The last party-based RPG I played is Shadowrun Returns: Dragonfall Director's Cut and I find my first 2 chars following similar ideas - 1st is a female troll Physical Adept (ie. Monk), charging right into the fray and smashing faces - 2nd is a male human Decker/Rigger, hiding in the rear end and sowing discord/distracting/flanking with drones (there's no combat stealth option ) A bit more reflection suggests that my male characters lean towards intellectual/tactical roles as opposes to the charismatic/leadership positions taken by my female charactors. -
Yeeesssss! There has been a dearth of games that interest me (my last full-price purchase was Dishonored, 2 years ago). I am currently replaying Fallout: New Vegas, AGAIN. Definitely more than 6 near-complete runs (clocked over 1k hours on Steam). Looking forward to Wasteland 2. Didn't follow it close, but since I'm getting it as a bonus for upgrading my Tier, I'm eager to jump into it.

I'm sorta pleased at Ken Levine's decision. Irrational Games haven't been attracting my attention since Bioshock 1. System Shock 1 was my first PC game and I still hold fond memories of it. System Shock 2 is also special to me. However, after a couple of runs with Bioshock 1, I was somehow unsatisfied and never bothered with the subsequent Bioshock 2 or Bioshock Infiinite since. I would be interested to see what Ken can create afresh.

Let's Play: Baldur's Gate Trilogy - Ch26 (Mae'Var)

A burst of update and then nothing ... C'mon Tigranes! I'm waiting for you to send your party members into the meatgrinder so that I can take my turn to be fed in as well! -
The achievement should be for early backers only, no exceptions IMAO. As for in-game items/pets, let them be at least exclusive for an appropriate time frame - minimum 6 months though I would like to see it remain so for at least a full calendar year. Keeping it exclusive for more than a couple of years is debatable.

I hope to make it into the party to sing for Lord Firkragg ... -

Oooh, I didn't know there was a line for the privilege of dying under Tigranes' hilarious writing (and dubious leadership?) What insanity check is required to sign up? And if I can queue up can I play as a Jester? -
Im on the same train! You guys make me wish I still had my original System Shock 1 CD. It was my very first PC game ... ... All I have left is the official hint book 'ICE Breaker' and it gives me fond memories of rapier-rushing Security-2 'bots (they took at least 4 slices to kill from 'Undamaged' state on Combat 3).

DA2 was a fair game on its own but after DAO was a significant letdown. I haven't bothered checking about DA3 news these days. I preferred the combat sequence in DAO over the mook waves of DA2, especially the option to have rogues sneak in positions besides enemy glass cannons in advance then tear them apart as my tank charges in to draw aggro ... There were some parts they did right. My favourite sidequest in DA2 was Aveline's sidequest in Act 2. First time I played through it I was torn between LOLing and bashing my head against my keyboard!

Umm, if I understand the skill point allocation in F:NV, if you have 0.5 points, it is carried over to the next level. Reference from Fallout wiki. So, getting the Int implant before Level 2 does make a difference of ONE SKILL POINT!

I also figured out a clear path to New Vegas from Sloan, except I sidestepped the Deathclaws by cutting across an unguarded portion of the winding road leading to Black Mountain. Don't even need a Stealthboy. Be very careful to avoid xp gain and you can hit New Vegas with sufficiently low enough XP to gamble and buy the Int implant before Level 2.

I personally like the option of wandering off the beaten track from the word 'go'. Glad there is the option for the stubborn and foolhardy to get somewhere earlier than intended. It is not exactly fun to step in a situation potentially more that what your PC can handle, but it is memorable. After punching my way through the Cazadore path @ Level 5, soon after I ended up following a quest into Vault 22, still armed with the same Bladed Gauntlet. I spent a good amount of time there at half-health, half-crippled, worrying over my rapidly diminishing cache of Gecko Steaks and wondering "What am I doing in this hellhole?"

If you are really adventurous and enterprising, you can try going northeast and somehow sidestep the dangerous critters. I won't say it would be easy to find a safe path though, but it is possible. In my first playthrough with no knowledge of the game at all, I remember stocking up on gecko steaks before trying to punch my way through Cazadore territory (literally, unarmed build with a Bladed Gauntlet and no ranged weapons) north of Goodsprings. I forgot how many times I limped back to Doc Mitchel to get my char patched up (playing on Hardcore mode) before I finally stomped enough bugs to clear a way to the shiny light city in the distance. Cazador territory is possible, Deathclaw territory no way.

Favourite Companions

Minsc and Boo: Butt-kicking for goodness never gets old with them around. Boone: I just like the 'good' NCR ending ... "He spent his leave time hunting down slavers in the desert, his First Recon beret the last thing they never saw." ... and "Thumbs-down, you son of a bitch!" (I despise Caesar and the Legion in Fallout: New Vegas, they are very 'dark', but I could have accepted them except for two things: their treatment of women and slavery) -

C'mon Tigranes, I'm hoping for an update this weekend ... ... as an aside, I never played a Bard class in BG2 so never experienced the Bard Stronghold questline ... I'm really looking forward to read how hilarous it would be under your typing. -
Replaying Fallout: New Vegas, just finished Old World Blues ... I want a MUGGY plushie! It's the beginning of the year and I don't have any plans to buy new games so far because my gaze is on Project Eternity ...

IMO I enjoy Skyrim for 2 main things: 1. Mindless exploration and slaying: - "Dear Diary, today I took a trip across the countryside and killed: 5 mudcrabs for pinching my toes 3 deers for the venison (I like venison stew) 1 highwayman for demanding a toll from someone with a bigger sword than him 2 Thalmor patrols because I need the exercise in killing elves 1 vampire stupid enough to eat all the fireballs I can cast 1 dragon who chased me across a mountain ridge and ruined my eyebrows and 1 more dragon just because I wanna see if the last death-by-dagger-to-the-tail was a fluke" 2. Sneaking into a dungeon and snipe/backstab every hostile living/unliving thing without them ever finding me.

Replaying Fallout:New Vegas: Current Level: 18 Planned Destination: Vault 34 (the one full of radiation and feral ghouls) Nagging Question: Should I bring my brand new fully-modded Katana or raid Camp Searchlight first for a big solid Fire Axe for zombie-gibbing? Nope, I'm not a Super-Sledge fan.
