  1. It's been too long since I've posted some Moonspell: I probably linked that song three times already, and got no reactions. Guess this one won't be any different. 😃
  2. No, it did not. It took almost 25 years for me to work up the "courage" to rewatch the original 90ies anime. There are a few movies that I've rewatched that kind of... killed my nostalgic enjoyment of them. I like to call that The Black Hole effect, named so after, you probably guessed it, Disney's The Black Hole, which I loved as a kid and has two actors that rank very highly on my list of actors I enjoy watching - Ernest Borgnine and Maximilan Schell. Rewatching that was an unmitigated disaster in spite of the cast. It took someone who has never seen the show before liking it for me to even consider going back, and what a wonderful ride that was. It took a dip for some 20 episodes with SuperS, but hey, in 200 episodes, that's... still a pretty goood run. If anything, watching Sailor Moon Crystal and partially reading the manga made me appreciate the 90ies anime even more. Yes, even SuperS. I keep mentioning Harry Potter in comparison to Sailor Moon. Uhm. It does bear the queston, did you read the novels or see the films?
  3. That sounds like Dragonforce, just with more girls. Which means I approve.
  4. SMC, Act 26: Final episode for Black Moon, and the final one before the animation overhaul. Phew.
  5. I also want to point out that Ms. Takeuchi felt the need to create side stories for Sailor Moon somewhen around the Infinity or Dreams arc where she expands on everyone's backstory. The fact that these separate character development stories even exists validates my impression that there is barely - and none in most cases - character development for them in the actual Sailor Moon manga. Miko Stoklasa would say "don't give me that crap about books or comics, if it's not in the movie then it's bad writing" as he usually does when fanboys try to explain something in Star Wars to him when referencing separate background material. It's also possible that there's better characterization later in the series, in Infinity, Dreams and Starsm and that reading the entire manga at once lets you fill the gaps for the first two arcs. It's not like they're long. Some of chapters are immensely drawn out just to fill pages. Doesn't change the fact that aside from Usagi, Mamoru and Chibi-Usa barely anyone even had a character in the Sailor Moon manga for the first - at least - 26 months of it being released. @KaineParker
  6. By the way, who says she doesn't. It's her second attack in Sailor Moon Crystal. Collecting and then emitting moonlight from her tiara. I haven't really mentioned it because even the manga drops that crap after a couple of pages or a chapter or so. Probably Viz blocked YT video:
  7. Hahahahaha. SMC, Act 24. SMC, Act 25:
  8. Most of this is second hand information, but yes, I've read that Minako's continously more and more goofball personality in the first anime was based on her in Codename: Sailor V. Sailor Moon manga Minako was the experienced leader type with a hotheaded streak who could be pretty pigheaded at times (in a side story she apparently goes and ruins a school festival Rei was helping out with, this might have parallels with the SuperS episode where she tries to ruin Makoto's attempts to flirt with an elementary school principal). Codename Sailor V was originally a one-shot manga. Successful enough to cause Toei to want to make an anime adaptation that lead to Sailor Moon and the situation that Naoko Takeuchi apparently started doing new Sailor V and Sailor Moon manga releases each month. The utter mess that the storytelling in the Black Moon arc is seems to be sufficient evidence that she indeed bit off more than she could chew, or was talked into it, because the other thing that I read is that she originally thought Sailor Moon would be a one arc manga. I suppose that she took the contract for more Sailor V and then gave in when Toei wanted more Sailor Moon. This then lead to the filler arc of R, to give her a two or three months headstart. From what I have read, however, Codename: Sailor V was more lighthearted than Sailor Moon, up until Codename: Sailor V had to prepare the story for Sailor Moon as a sequel, from where it then took a dip into being a little more grimdark. I can't corroborate that, yet, but it seems more and more likely that reading Sailor V seems to be a better use of my time than reading Sailor Moon. And I can honstly say that I do not understand how there can be manga fanboys that hate both the original anime and Sailor Moon Crystal. I'm not sure how anyone can be a manga fanboy. Or fangirl, when everything about the adaptation is simply superior, but de gustibus non est disputandum, right?
  9. I think that's also in the manga, I don't entirely know 100%.
  10. SMC Act 23, liberal edits incoming probably:
  11. Mimetto-kun causes what's probably the best joke in the entire run of the show, so regardless of what else you might think of her, I love her for that alone. SMC vs. Star Wars discussion:
  12. I don't know, Riker was also the focus character of the best clip show ever. Have you forgotten Shades of Gray?
  13. Japanese with German subtitles. I just watch SMC dubbed, because why bother, at least that way I don't need to stare at the screen all the time to catch the dialogue.
  14. SMC, Act 20: Oh, also two more episodes of Steven Universe.
  15. E. L. James comes up in her video Dear Stephenie Meyer video, because Shades of Grey started out as Twilight fanfiction - much like Anna Todd's "After" series was One Direction fanfiction before it became a similar smash hit for no reason. I think After is even worse to be honest. It is aptly named however. After is the German word for anus, and that's where that book series came from. And yes, that's the last of what you will hear from me about that, unless asked. Sorry. I mean, at least in this thread. Ah, the left and their massive meme fraud. I love how almost every seiyū in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure practises Shatnerian overacting regardless of what's happening on the screen. It had a rough start, but it's beginning to grow on me.
  16. JoJo's dialogue sure is something else at times. I'm not yelling because I want to! Everyone should hate this drivel. But... but making connections that others can't see is the one thing I'm good at. Doesn't that meme go more like "Sir, this is an Arby's"? Not that I really know either. But rest easy that it was not me who made the connection. I just shone a light on it, right? *runs off crying*
  17. I have no idea. Crystal was supposed to release for Sailor Moon's 20th anniversary, but got deleayed to 2014. In other words, I think the actual reason it was made was to rake some sweet Yen in, but I can see Naoko Takeuchi being all over a way to bring her original vision to the screen. She wasn't too shy to very vocally disagree with some of the original anime's choices.
  18. Before that he couldn't do anything at all in Sailor Moon Crystal. Hey guys, be sure to read the edit in this one.
  19. SMC, Act 18: Final meaningful name entry of the Inner Senshi: Aino Minako. So seeing how Mercury was Water Star, Mars was Fire Star and Jupiter was Wood Star befor romanization, what would you think Minako's name means when Venus was called Gold Star? If you thought Love's beautiful small child (well small/little child of love), then you'd be right. That's because she got her name in Sailor V before this entire planet based Sailor Moon character outline became a thing.
