Sorry for interrupting your little conversation but I was just wondering, is there something you can do with Atris? Can you flirt with her or whatnot? I'm just curious since she seems way better than the other choices you have in this game. I don't want some Blind Dark Jedi or Atton with STDs or whoever. PS : There are a lot of intersting unused sound files. I guess Bioware didn't have the time or just felt they should be left out for some unknown reason. There is also something about Juhani and how she was watching the sith magics. If you tweak around with the scripts, you can play everything. Also Juhani asks about the PC and you can answer how you got on the Ebon Hawk and what happened on the Endar Spire etc.

If they have to spend a little extra money to get the best games first, thats their problem. Pretty much any good game released for PC came out for console first : GTA : 3, Vice city, San Andreas Metal Gear Solid 3 HALO HALO 2 KotOR KotOR II etc.

Hmm... I hope I can unlock the new pipelines but Dell is now crippling their cards because they want the gamers to buy the X800XT which doesn't even come w/ the Dimension 8400 (unless you want to spend $3000 on the high end 8400 but its better to buy a Dimension XPS then). Those settings are what I use on my 5200 but with a 6800, I was hoping to try some of the higher resolutions out like 1280 * 1024 or 1600 * 1200 using maybe 8x aa and 8x af. Anyways when it comes, (December 22nd...) I'll try it out and see how it performs.

I've found the lowest FPS to be when I'm on Dantooine (Plains), Manaan (Ahto City), and Taris (Uppercity). Also when someone 'nades me, it starts to get a little laggy.

To be more specific, PC gamers.... we are always being tormented by evil corporate slimebags.... *sigh* when will it end?
-
well if you can shell out the bucks.... GeForce 6800 GT or Ultra or Ultra Extreme Edition ofcourse the price is kind of high at the moment for GF U EE (something like $699). Huggles, you lag w/ that system? Now I am getting scared since my card is not even 6800 gt, its a gto... Then again, those settings are pretty high, i usually have 4x aa and 4 af 800*600 (on my 5200, my new one hasn't arrived)
-
1) That doesn't mean the console is faster or better than the PC. 2) KotOR II suffers from frame rate drops not KotOR I...
-
Its definetly not Obsidian's fault. LucasArts makes all the INTELLIGENT management and software release decisions...
-
no its not even a 5600 its a 5200 and to the best of my knowledge, its just a bog 5200.

for a game not meant to be modded kotor modding was indeed a great success. even games with tools specifically meant to mod it have done worse. modules are not needed for modding. also by your description of kotor mods i can tell you havent tried any mods recently. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm not going to download a skin or something. If you are making an ACTUAL modification to the game, it helps to CREATE new modules so that you are not limited to those provided. Also, when the developers release an SDK, those are the tools the developers used to create the game. I strongly doubt that those tools are worse than what some person can code in a day. So, unless you are saying the developers are idiots using stupid tools, you are wrong... P.S. If you haven't tried any of those mods, you haven't tried any mods at all.
-
The last KotOR wasn't exactly a success with mods. Modders found it impossible to create new modules. However, they could change little things like pictures, attack damages, lightsabers, skins, items, clothing, sounds, text, location of people etc. Since K2 will be using the same engine, I doubt it will be a great success with mods.

Thats the thing with NVidia cards : when you put them into your rig, you only realize how big they are. They take up 2 entire slots and increase the temperature inside the case by a considerable amount even ifyou get a graphics card mounted fan. I still like Nvidia over ATI though and I am Canadian... Nvidia cards may appear inferior but they kill ATI ATI Radeon X800XT Platinum Edition (NOT X850) vs. eVGA GeForce 6800 Ultra Extreme Edition The Nvidia card won 18 tests, the ATI card won 11 tests and 6 tests were a draw. The Nvidia cards also murder ATI at higher resolutions where the ATI starts to lag sometimes...

I agree, they don't need to be here. KotOR II for PC will be a masterpiece. Afterall, just because they aren't here doesn't mean they dont care or know. Maybe they are omnipotent developers (like the Q... hehheh)
-
You probably will be able to play KotOR II since the engine is the same, only the textures have been improved so if you do low-res textures, you will probably be able to run it. I ran KotOR on my laptop which was : 1.6GHz P4M 32MB GeForce 2 (dont remember the model) 256MB DDR at 266MHz
-
My guess for system requirements is probably: 1.3 - 1.5GHz but 2GHz Recommended (I ran KotOR I pretty well on a 900MHz though...) 256MB Ram, 512 Recommended (I had 640MB PC-133) 2-4GB HDD Space (Its a big game... annoying install though...) 64MB but 128MB Recommended (I ran on FX 5200 w/ 256MB)

FACT : The PC version of a game is almost always better. Why? Well, with a processor almost 2x - 4x faster than an XBOX CPU at 733MHz, you can expect better performance. Also, numerous other things including a faster FSB, more onboard processor cache, Hyper-Threading technology etc. greatly improve the speed of the game. XBOX: 733MHz GCN: 450MHZ PS2: 292 MHz or 291.9412 to be more precise... Your average gaming PC: 2.5GHz or above * *These gaming PCs may have Athlon-64 processors which are much faster than their intel counterparts. Infact, Athlon-64 have a bus speed of 1600 or 2000Mhz. This means a dramatic increase in performance. FACT : The current line of graphics cards can compete and win against the XBOX A current GeForce 6800 or ATI Radeon X800 graphics card is far superior to the XBOX GPU which is a 128mb, 256-bit unit. An XBOX GPU also can't take advantage of cutting edge technologies such as PCI-Express which is TWICE as fast as an 8x AGP port. Also, the XBOX GPU is outmatched when you compare other statistics such as Memory Bandwith, Core Clock, Memory Speed, Number of Transistors, Pixel Pipelines, Vertex Shaders, Grahpics Engine etc. etc. etc. The list goes on... FACT : The memory used on the latest PCs are DDR2 which are almost 3 times as fast as the RAM on an XBOX Current DDR2 memory supports speeds of up to 675MHz. It is possible to install up to 2GB of this ram (dual channel) onto your motherboard. This substantially increases performance. OK XBOX USERS, YOU ARE SUPERIOR...

TO: Coordinator I SAID I DID NOT RECOMMEND GETTING A NEW MOTHERBOARD JUST FOR PCI-E. Anyways, you are right about the X600 not having an AGP version. In that case, you're right a 9800Pro which is around $200US is still a good deal and can pretty much play any games out now e.g. HL2, Doom III etc.

I bought a new PC for an amazing deal from Dell (I know....) but the price was truly amazing. I got: P4 3.4GHz HT Socket 775 Intel 925X Motherboard 1GB Dual Channel DDR2 533Mhz (512mb*2) 17" Dell LCD TFT Monitor 160GB Serial ATA Drive (SATA) 7200RPM 16x PCI-E GeForce 6800 GTO 256MB (Not GT, there is a difference...) Windows XP Professional Intel 24 bit Audio (not an Audigy but who cares?) 16X DVD-RW 16X DVD-ROM I got this all for the amazing price of $1302 US. Agreed the Coordinator, the 9800 (NOT XT OR PRO) is a better deal than the X600 but in terms of performance, the X600 is better which is why I recommended purchasing it. Its not really worth spending $250 to upgrade to a PCI-Express capable motherboard so purchasing the AGP is worth it. Do not take my word alone and go and purchase this card, look on the internet DesertHawk and check what prices they have.

Sure... whatever you say. I mean the X-BOX verison runs smoothly, no drops in frame rate or bugs or whatever. Hmm... yep that seems right or does it? PC versions are 99% of the time less buggy than the console counterparts and if you have evidence to the contrary post it otherwise, shut up. If you need any proof of the X-BOX's buginess, click here. On a sidenote: DesertHawk, I dont see why you are having problems. I find the earlier builds are much more stable. I tried using the patches and it generally made things worse. However, if you have the money, I suggest you get a new video card. Go for an ATI Radeon X600 but make sure its an AGP card and not a PCI-Express because the interface is different.

How many devs still working on the pc version?
Darth Ni replied to Demigod's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
*sniff* everybody has gone to NWN2... the KotOR II forums are so empty.... -
Hmm... DesertHawk, i think you have to upgrade your video card because I ran on a system which didn't even meet requirements. Also, I think the requirements will be higher this time since they have improved the textures but the graphics engine is the same so it should run pretty much the same. I Had a: PIII 900Mhz W/ ASUS CUV4X Motherboard 640MB PC-133 RAM 20GB HDD GeForce FX 5200 256MB on 4x agp I ran smoothly on 800*600 w/ 4x aa and 4x antistropy and with frame buffer effects enabled.

No Atris romance like everyone was hoping huh?

"seeing the xbox lag brings warm feelings to my heart" Those stupid US X-BOX owners who were arrogant shot themselves in the foot. E.G. Lord Satsan or something was like : asdfhasdofihsaoidhf you suck pc users im getting this game tomorrow while you wait till february sadhfasjlkhdfjkashdfksdf. I wonder what he thinks now. :D
