  1. To quote Silent Winter, "Gah, MY EYES!" While I don't appreciate getting adverts (not interested in the latest news either) in games, I can tolerate them if they are unobtrusively displayed. This implementation is just hideous! By default I usually block single player games from connecting to the internet so it's not a big deal. But I'm still stuck with this huge window. Obsidian, if you're going force this on me, at least don't make it an eyesore please. Thanks
  2. The game crashed on me today while starting up. The crash reporter requested I send the files to you guys so here they are. Second attempt worked fine thankfully. 2015-11-01_133126.zip
  3. Hi I was on v2.01 too so uninstalled and installed the full v2.03 installer. I was having crashes on start (now fixed) with v.2.02 & v2.03 so uninstalled, installed and patched different versions without affecting my saves. Generally once you make a save in a new verion you then can't load that save if you go back to an older version. Just be on the safe side you could make a copy of the save game directory. On Windows 7 it is C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME_HERE\Saved Games\Pillars of Eternity Edit: Just had a look and I've still got the 2.01-2.02 patch files, including the expansion. I could send you the files assuming you trust me not to send anything nasty. patch_pillars_of_eternity_the_white_march_part_1_2.1.0.11.exe 202 MB (2.01-2.02) patch_pillars_of_eternity_2.5.0.11.exe 106 MB (2.01-2.02)
  4. Edit2: Changed title to better reflect that the problem doesn't appear to be directly due to having GoG Galaxy installed. I'm posting this on the off chance it helps someone else. I've finally figured out why v2.02 and v2.03 of the game kept crashing on startup. As PoE is a single player offline game I blocked the executable from making any network connections, including local ones. Becasue I had GoG Galaxy installed (just to see what it was; wasn't using it and no intention to start) the game detected the Galaxy Communication service, started it up and tried to connect. After repeated failed connection attempts it keeled over with a vague system error "Pillars of Eternity has stopped working" (see attached). Uninstalling Galaxy unfortunately leaves the service behind so it continued to cause grief. So after removing the "forgotten" services I can get to game main menu again post v2.01 Edit: As a bare minimum, outbound loopback/127.0.0.1 connections must be allowed or the game will kill itself still. So probably not strictly a Galaxy problem.
  5. Hi I don't have quite the same crashes as mentioned by others on my GoG version. Mine crashes on start up after 3-5secs where I get an icon in the taskbar, blank screen then it dies. The dialog box gave a none descript message which I stupidly failed to note. This occurs with a fresh manual install of 2.02 and also a GoG Galaxy update of a manual install of 2.01 to 2.02. I've attached the two output_log files. I don't have the game installed right now but I can reinstall if required. Edit: No mods installed Edit2: attached DxDiag output Config Windows7 Pro SP1 x64 AMD 7790 with latest v15.7.1 drivers Intel i7-4770 16MB memory Game not installed in default directory output_log2.5.0.11-refresh_install.txt output_log2.5.0.11-galaxy_update.txt DxDiag.txt
  6. Hi Thought I'd pitch in we my experience of updating/installing the game (with expansion) to 2.02. Running the base game patch first (patch_pillars_of_eternity_2.5.0.11.exe) resulted in a file not found error. I didn't bother with the expansion patch. Pillars of Eternity patch log File not found (for patching): E:\games\Pillars of Eternity\PillarsOfEternity_Data\assetbundles\prefabs\objectbundle\draining.unity3d I then uninstalled the game and used the full 2.02 installer (setup_pillars_of_eternity_2.5.0.11). This installed but crashed with an undefined error within a seconds of the intro video playing. Not sure if it matters, but I do have GoG Galaxy installed though I don't use it. OS Windows 7 Pro 64bit
