If it was your baggage to start with then perhaps. FF is an example of a succesful franchise that isnt tied to a particular character, or a particular world. Probably with it's on part XII while others die out after 2 or 3. GTA could be another example. I was making reference to the rabidity of the fans not the story. -
No I'm looking for explanations thats not the same thing your looking to protect your ideology I'm not. Did some guy called Jesus exist ? Maybe, the name crops up historically. However thats a very different thing to saying that Jesus was god incarnate which there is no evidence for. I explained how a spear works but since you cant seem to comprehend it heres a little experiment you can try. Stab down with a knife. Note the ammount of force. Now stab up with the knife above your head note how much less force there is. Use a spear if you have one, but a knifes more likely. Science is supposed to be impersonal.

Too much baggage. I'd be more inclined to agree if we were not at the start of a new console generation. But we are , so I wont. -

Good thats the idea of the opening scene. It makes the player empathise with the character. Of course there will be some reference, but thats not the same as having to explain the whole history of the previous games. By the end of the game the character will know who was in the opening scene and why but little beyond that. I couldnt care less about them. I'm thinking of the series and the future of the franchise. Way more people are into Sephiroth , but they got over it. Again if the game is good enough then thats not going to make any difference. They will get over and simply appreciate KOTOR III as its own creation. People were disapointed in the conclusion of KOTOR II and that could have been a much better game had it ignored the whole thing and just focused on it's own story. You can carry across the droids without too much trouble. I'd make them regulars like R2 and 3p0. No one is going to bat an eyelid if a droid is memory wiped or dosnt remember that he was actually built by Anakin Skywalker :D and cant remember what he's been doing for the last 30 years. If the game is good enough it will attract new fans. If your long term fans are holding back the growth of your franchise, then they are more of a liablility than a fan. For example a Revan fan would be worthless unless you planned to include him in every game, so therefore you can simply discount that. Only those who are fans of the franchise itself can really be counted on. -
See your taking the word of whoever wrote it rather than looking for an explanation. The sponge being drugged is an explanation. Had they not done so they were probably quite aware of the roman practice of breaking the legs so that the person suffocated faster. All that proves is he hadnt been dead very long, or wasnt dead at all. Have you seen a roman spear ? It's not that long and its point dosnt penertrate far. Thrusting a spear upwards dosnt give you a great deal of force behind the blow since you have no weight behind it like when you trust down. In normal use the spear is thrown or the momentum of the victim is used so that they impale themselves. I know the spear anyway or at least what people claim is the spear and it dates from a much later time. Hitler believed in it though and the myth that it granted invincibility. If my deceased relative was being used as an excuse for killing people on a daily basis I'd be all for digging them up. Anyone interested in the truth would be too.

Well if they dug the guy up and he turned out to be around 2000 years old it would put a bit of a dent in the whole divine accension thing. I guess the christian verison won because they killed anyone who disagreed

You just kill off the two old characters job done. There is a difference between a resolution and the resolution a particular person wants to see. KOTOR III is going to be on a new system and will therefore be played by new people. It needs to be accesable to those people and since you could never reference the events of the previous games in detail without taking much away from the current game it's best to make a clean break. and this time make sure that the game has it's own identity and is not bound up with the characters. Do something VERY different like Squenix does each FF incarnation. -
Was I ? Jesus didnt actually die , they drugged him with whatever was on the sponge so it looked like he was dead. Then he went back to india and died there. Theres someone actually buried there with crucifiction wounds. Not suprisingly no one is allowed to dig him up and go all science on the bones.

Oh I dont have any problem with sex in the game. It's not like your going to get graphical jiggyiness anyway. It's really a case of balancing people new to the series with people who have been following the series. Because Fire Emblem did it all in one game that wasnt something that it had to deal with. But if you take X-2 for example , then people who hadnt played FFX where just lost because most of the events directly related to those in FFX. Even the most basic one like Yuna missing Tidus lost most of it's meaning if you never played X. If you look at FFXII (the new one) it has nothing to do with the events in X or X-2 which means that it's not going to alienate anyone because they havnt played the previous games. -

Never thought I would hear the words Troika and competent in the same sentence.. With regards to offspring. The only game thats really gotten this right is Fire Emblem (think it was 4). The game was split into two parts , the first part with the original character, during which you could pair them up. Depending on those pairings you would then get a new cast of characters for part II of the game. You could do it over the course of two seperate games but there would have to be someway to transfer infomation. And it would have to be part of the intent from the start. It does also leave the problem of what if you dont pair up ? Much like the death of Carth and Bastila ,as well as the obvious LS/DS male/female , meant having to account for all these possibilites which didnt actually extend the story of the second game in significant ways. So would having a myriad of possible offspring and parents included in the next game. If it is to thrive in the way FF does (96 million ish) then KOTOR must break away from just identifying with specific characters and become regocnized in it's own right. Otherwise it will be trapped by it's own limitations and rabid fan expectations in the same way that Fallout has been. -

I hope so too , in fact it's inevitable that someone will. Imagine being able to lean just by slightly tilting the controller. :D :D :D Starfox would be incrdible with this controller too. -
Well , she beat my score.

The controller is idea for FPS and RTS , its probably the best method of RTS control you are likely to get. It's going to have the same problem as people getting used to a controller as opposed to a mouse keyboard set up. Although this is way more intuative because its a direct translation of your movements into game movement. In essence it's a long distance mouse, but with way more added functionality. A mouse for example cant be tilted, this can. -
I never said I wanted to be one.

It is inevitable short of that event I mentioned.

Sqenix have the right idea when it comes to franchise. No one complains that none of the FF games are continous (or even set in the same world). Ok exception is X-2 but you notice it's addon rather than the next FF (or it would have been XII). If your going to do a franchise it needs room and tying the whole thing to a couple of character will not allow it that room. It's going to be on a whole new system so it's not a case of just using the same stuff again (which they were able to do to an extent in KOTORII). Most likely KOTOR III would start when NwNII is coming to close. -

Normally I dont buy into the whole extended warranty thing. But in this case I think its a great idea. -
Usually in the less developed parts of the world. Rationality will be the new "religion".
