What baley said. Just two things to add really. 1. There are central ammo/first aid rooms where you can get all your ammo/health back, however they are subject to the whim of story so it's not like unlimited ammo. You still get the usual ammo and health scattered around. 2. You cant save the game.. Well you can, but only at specific story points. This one will likely annoy some greatly. No idea how this works on the PC version though.

Have copious amount of cash, need gaymz!!
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to Kaftan Barlast's topic in Computer and Console
It's fun. In places its funny and in others the jokes miss the mark, but humours always a subjective thing anyway. It has a very olde worlde feel. The accents are played for laughs but at the same time they actually fit the setting. It has some classic RPG injokes, which you may or may not get depending on what you have played. It's almost certainly configured for a Joypad since everyone I asked said the PC controls were awful. It's got some pretty neat puzzles too, the companions are varied as as the approaches to character growth (although you will always be the bard obviously). As a single player game id place it above the DA series based on a single playthrough and above CoN. Unlike most games of this type you get a choice of endings too. Song of the chosen (in my sig) is brilliant for anyone fed up of the chosen one plots. -

I know several, it's fine if you know what you want ,but a pain otherwise. I'd look over the lists and then form a short list and ask for opinions on those, its likely to prove more productive. -
Pretty much. Not a lot of room for innovation games cost a fortune to make so you cant take too many risks. Thats not to say you wont get any, there just isnt a lot of room for it. There are exceptions. Nintendogs is innovative and it's a selling a storm in Japan. But they tend to be more open to odd concepts than we do.

Go find an online store that allows you to search by catagory as well as name. -
Having the field to yourself for a couple of years dosnt hurt. Publishing is always risky but the returns are good and for the moment Bioware are riding high so it makes sense to take advantage of it. Dont think Bioware have actually published anything yet. Publishing is expensive, publishers have also built up numerous contacts that they can make use of. Generally if you develop something you get paid a fixed sum (and possibly a % depending on the deal) but as a publisher its all about how much you can sell.

Crazy Frog game on the way
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to ShadowPaladin V1.0's topic in Computer and Console
Seems confined to Europe. -
Here you go Darque. Spoiler free (nothing you wont read in the instructions anyway). The game has 4 levels, easy, normal, hard and one that you can only unlock after finishing. Visually and in basic mechanics its very like RE4. Graphics are not quite as good but they are not bad either. You play a guy called Tom Hansen , a Coast Guard who is part of a team answering a distress call from a Russian whaling ship. Because it takes place on a ship, and in the middle of a storm no less. You have to cope with the ship listing from side to side (which buggers up your aim) and also being pitched over the side. Or being swept away by a wave. The good news is you can also use it to your advantage. It's pretty difficult to do fear in the middle of the day with the sun streaming through the window and the fountain burbling away outside. But you definately get a sense of isolation , and even early on there are points where panicky people will be unleashing a lot of ammo. Weapons are pretty standard fair for a modern game. You start off with a 45 equipped with laser sight (very RE4) and a flashlight (which makes it useful even when you have more powerful weapons). Enviroments are what I would call semi interactive. Some things that you think you should be able to shoot (locks for example) you cant. But you can shoot all sorts of things like the usual barrels, crates etc. Sometimes shooting something enviromental can have some unforseen consequences. As you move around you find documents which are a mixture of clues(like what blows up) and diary pages and other background. If you like RE 4 (yes I know you do ) then this plays more or less the same but with less refinement. You can choose between either having the camera lock on the character or having the camera rotate using the right thumb. Both are quite handy in places. You also have the shove move, and a critical strike where you charge up a bar while being grappled and then unleash a devastating attack. Lot like the kick move in RE 4. Anyway it's great fun so far and there is nothing that has particularly bothered me. Tad easy perhaps, but then I am playing on normal (which I probably shouldnt).

X-Men 3 being systematically destroyed
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to EnderAndrew's topic in Way Off-Topic
I thought it was just about right. Otherwise you would never be able to get rid of people. The only thing that really needs to be addressed is how the singleplayer and multiplayer game merge together. While the single player sections have really nice background and story no one really wants to sit through it when you have your mates around. From what I understand they have cut out most of the stat buying and gone for something more streamlined this time around. What are the most important/largest developments in the game since the original? - May 17, 2005 Alex Garcia, Associate Producer, Activision: We made three big changes this time. The first one is that we have brought the X-Men and the Brotherhood together. You can make a team of all Brotherhood, a team of all X-Men, or mix and match them, its up to you. The characters from both teams have very unique powers, so make sure you mix up your teams to find that killer match up. The next feature we added to improve on the original game was online game play. Now you can fight against the evil forces of Apocalypse with your friends across the world. When playing online you will find that there are exclusive online missions that you will not find in the regular offline story. In these missions you will find exclusive items as well. The third new feature is the ability to switch out your characters powers. We have doubled the number of hero powers in this game so you can now decide which powers you want each hero to take into battle. On top of that you will be able to switch those powers while in game with out stopping the action. With a few simple button presses you can switch out every power and see what it does in less than 30 seconds. -
A couple of issues back would have made it April :D

The defence of Targos (an IWDII battle report)
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to ShadowPaladin V1.0's topic in Way Off-Topic
Glad you liked it. I found my old Xcom diary while searching around in the cupboards yesterday, the whole thing sort of snowballed from there. Unfortunately its the only one I have on the computer (because someone wanted to use it for something). -
Thats the first diary of that type I wrote. Most games either do it for you in the form of a journal or the game structure dosnt really allow for it as your basically rewriting someone elses work. Especially true in RPGs. I often write "battle reports" of pivitol game moments, although they will be dramatised accounts rather than fiction.

Whats going on here?
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to Darth_Kurdt's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Weird thats not the same box as the one I have. Even the lightsaber on the top shot is a different colour and the guy looks to be wearing different robes. -
Sounds like someone really got into it.
-
Closest I got was renting it, didnt actually get to play it. Instructions made it sound pretty good though and the story sounded pretty interesting.
-
Dont know about people but I have. Fun game, kinda short though and an absolute sod of a last battle.
-
Is that Obscure ?
-
I rented it.. Then we went away for the weekend and I never got to play it. :">
-
Well other people who wont be getting a PS3 might be too. Actually I saw some screenies looks fantastic but those are the sorts of games I rent rather than buy. Dont really hold any long term appeal for me.
