  1. Two tons of defense tonight against Arizona. First five series, three three-and-outs and two interceptions--one TD and a 61-yard return.

Also, talks with Bosa have resumed for the first time since July 28. All-Pro Adorable fans react.

  2. it must have been quite a fall for the dog to get so hurt. dogs are known for the toughness of their bones.

They are definitely tough, even the little ones. She survived more than a month after the incident.

The weird psychology of it is, her owner, my friend of twenty-five years, told me she 'fell'. I had known what actually happened since July.

Today was a good car day. Up close and personal with a silver VW e-Golf and a black Ferrari 430.

  3. Not to be a double downer, but I lost my goddaughter over the weekend, a six-year old mini red dachshund. She was tossed down the stairs by a two-year old human, compressing her spine and subsequently euthanized late Saturday. If I stop crying it will be sometime in 2017.

  4. Honestly the most important part of relationships is having a teammate to help deal with the personal stuff.  There is a problem if that is not happening.

Team sports are hard. Deep down, individuals among us wish they could compete with, and compliment others on a team level.

On the other hand, watching Olympic track and field, this individual would like to compete with Dafne Schippers of the Netherlands on every level.

  5. To borrow a third-person turn of phrase, we look terrible in slim jeans. Skinny jeans are a nightmare of proportion on our less-than-6', less-than-170lb frame. Upper body is much better ... grip strength is high percentile, which helps us not to cry in our sleep every night.

Did you know that in Brazil, they don't distinguish between men's and women's shoe sizes, nor shame you for buying a pair of WW Havaianas, arriving Tuesday. I know I have a problem, but if this is wrong, I don't want to be right.

  6. I've noticed how, now that my hair is longer than Point Break Patrick Swayze, people react totally differently. Instead of mild bemusement or instant disinterest, females stop and gaze for close to two seconds ... even random dudes at the grocery store strike up conversation about the type of beer in my cart. Plus I get carded for everything, which is the most satisfying.

Today I went to the comic shop and the grocery store. Wonder Woman #4 and Stone Brewing Delicious IPA are both on the table.

  7. Have I skipped untold retellings or did I miss the critics retreat where they describe a female Jedi scavenger scum and a traitorous Stormtrooper's crisis of conscience as being utterly generic and formulaic? Not arguing, I'm just getting on in years and don't understand.

  8. Trying a couple new things, waiting for the Rogue One trailer ... a 'light whiskey', or 'un-aged' spirit. High West Silver Whiskey Western Oat, is the long name. No color whatsoever, which tricks your mind, but it's not harsh or unfriendly. Pretty neat sip.

The other is local brewer Modern Times' Fruitlands, described as a sour tropical fruit gose beer ... sour, salty base beer with passion fruit and guava. So good I have a new favorite genre of beverage.

  9. Okay, I am onboard with the timeline. From TrekCore:

At today’s CBS All Access panel for the Television Critics Association in Los Angeles, showrunner and executive producer Bryan Fuller finally made the first major reveals about next January’s new Star Trek series.

The lead character will be female Lt. Commander in Starfleet – and human – not the captain of a starship. The rank comes “with caveats,” Fuller detailed cryptically.

Fuller elaborated on the choice to not center the show about yet another captain:

"The story that is fascinating for me is, we’ve seen six series from captain’s points of view… to see different characters from different perspectives, we thought it would give us different contexts. A different dynamic and relationship to the crew. For [her] to truly understand something alien, she has to understand herself, [and her journey will] teach her how to get along with others in the galaxy. We haven’t cast her yet, so we don’t know what level of diversity she will be."

As for you timeline targeters, the show will be set approximately ten years before James T. Kirk takes command of the Enterprise, in the Prime timeline.

Says Fuller, the show will launch from an event that has talked about in the Original Series, but never fully explored. He did specifically state that the Kobayashi Maru, the Battle of Axanar (plus the Earth-Romulan War, from the 2150’s) are not the events to which he was hinting.

"We’re much closer to Kirk’s universe [than that of Archer’s], so we get to play with all of that [TOS-era] iconography of those ships and those uniforms."

In terms of other casting, Fuller stayed mum on if the captain of the USS Discovery will be portrayed by a male or female actor, but did say to expect both “robots” and “a few more aliens than usual” in the lead characters – including some “reimagining of existing alien [species]” – and he confirmed the show will “absolutely” have a gay character.

In addition, Fuller hinted that the character of Amanda Grayson – Spock’s mother – “maybe” will factor into DISCOVERY at some point; he also said that “it’s not impossible” that Section 31 may come into play. The producer would not elaborate further on either point.

  10. Huh, well that is saddeningly plausible. Hopefully everything works out equally well for Bosa and Tebow.

In the mean time, more importantly, a few good men and women were invited to Chargers Park today.

  11. From what I've read, it's Bosa. He, or his management, wants it all upfront ... the team has offered two installments and won't break precedent, having never paid a player that way.

The fan feeling is that free agency and the draft and the off-season were so productive, Bosa is blotting his own copybook not being here.

Makes me wonder how many high-profile pre-season trades have ever happened.
