  1. As I usually do when logical argumentation is required - in fact, that's more or less what I get taught at uni.
  2. I've just realised another incredibly obvious reason why this argument makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. They're saying that you could never achieve a budget such as 20 million dollars via crowdfunding. On the other hand, they invest 20+ million dollars in the development of a game and expect to get more than that amount of money back from the sales of the game (and they usually do). Where does that money they get back come from? From the players, of course - those same ones who participate in crowdfunding. If they invest 20+ million dollars into a game and expect to get even MORE than that back from the players, how can they claim that those same players could never give that amount of money directly to the developer?
  3. This, too. The man knows whereof he speaks. Couple that with what I said earlier about the developers having absolute freedom over their own work, not having to adjust to publisher-set schedules and deadlines, being in the complete posession of their own IP and not having to share the profits from the sales with a publisher and practically being left with crumbs of the crumbs of what people actually pay for the game, and I think it is not overshooting it to say that 4 million $ via Kickstarter is worth much, much more than 40 million $ via a publisher.
  4. Of course they're going to say that to try to dissuade other developers from going the Kickstarter route. Doesn't rustle my jimmies in the slightest. You have to compare this sort of game production with game production under a publisher not only by the size of the budget, but by the freedom of the developer as well. Once again, . Second, while crowd sourcing may not be able to provide those amounts of money at this point, as time goes on and people become more and more aware of crowdsourcing and Internet in general develops, the amount of money which will be possible to gather through Kickstarter and other online crowdsourcing methods will only get bigger and bigger. DFE Kickstarter campaign raised 3.3 million dollars. About half a year later, PE Kickstarter campaign raised 4 million dollars. You extrapolate.
  5. You're feeling awfully entitled, aren't you? I'm from Croatia. I won't, nor do I in the least expect to, get the game translated into Serbo-Croatian, and if Obsidian decided to get the game translated into the language I would scream at them to try to dissuade them from doing such a pointless thing. I don't think that has anything to do with me not being treated as a " "CUSTOMER" with equal rights as others languages customers", it's a simple consequence of there not being that many people who speak Serbo-Croatian in the world for it to pay off at all, and the same goes for Italian - the region where the language is spoken is pretty limited and there just aren't that many people in the world who speak Italian.
  6. Good point. But... where. D: I don't see any other "talk about whatever pops up" thread around.
  7. OMG RACEST!!1! Some dark chocolate is just vile on the tongue and throat. I love making white hot chocolate. <3
  8. I just thought it was obvious that not everyone is capable of that. Some people need to actually go to classes to learn a language, and that does cost money. There, happy?
  9. Isn't that pretty much what happens with every turn of generations? The parents used to "rebel" against their parents (by rebel I mean think the things their parents do are uncool or something like that), then their kids rebel against them.
  10. Ever since hipsters themselves became mainstream, then a curious thing which we refer to simply as "hipception" happened. Everything the hipsters themselves like, i.e. the things that are not mainstream, became mainstream. And "werewolf" and "weremarshmallow" could be anything that shapeshifts into wolf/marshmallow form.
  11. No need to feel neglected and jealous, it's just that you're simply too mainstream!
  12. My process of making up nicknames continues - you shall be known as Sir Coinkydink III.
  13. Big greedy publishers? You mean those same guys who would just laugh at the idea of funding something like Project Eternity?
  14. https://en.wikipedia...native_speakers Your list is a bit off - Portuguese is way ahead of Russian, French and German, Russian is not ahead of Spanish, etc., etc.
  15. I'm fully aware I could've just done that myself, but it just felt... dirty.
