The dog idea sounded cool then I read this: Then I thought of Koromaru from Persona 3, and then it sounded extremely cool. -
Why is everyone so vehemently opposed to this? I've always though critical hits should be special in some way, certainly some sort of sound effect or something. Crits are rare, at least when you don't have a mathematical crit rate of 150% like in Kotor 2, and the player should feel some sort of positive feedback when they do happen.

I've always been a fan of polaxes and such, warhammers, maybe something like the Nemean Cestus from God of War 3 because those things were the best part of that game.
