  1. To be fair, I don't remember the name at all. Maybe ti's him but I can't guarantee it. If that's the case, well, I stand corrected. Everything was fluid in MotB when DA2 was clanky. What could have happened? Maybe he didn't like his job at Bioware. Due to the recent layoffs they had, some people went out of their way to say something changed since EA bought the company. It wasn't a pleasure like before to make video games. Besides, this Evans guy sure didn't feel bad at the end of the interview when he spoke about his own layoff. "They actually did me a favor". Hey. A little motivation goes a long way.
  2. Yup, that's a mistake on my part. Lead writer. I never actually thought he was LD to begin with. I should read myself. Also, no, he's not the only man responsible but nobody denies he had responsabilities in the mess that DA2 was. That's actually why I wrote that post. I saw the first two acts and it was hard to believe there were lead writing to begin with. The story was going absolutely nowhere. It looked like a collection of modules ala Newerwinter Nights but without any storyline to piece everything together. The hero did errands (And boy some of them were insanely stupid like helping a guard to hook up with her crush and then she kisses the hero just after getting laid with that guy what the hell) for 15 hours before the story started. Recently, I read an interview of George Zeits about the importance of having a man to connect the parts of the game in a coherent way. I don't remember the name of the man who did it but his work was instrumental in Mask of the Betrayer. There was nothing that looked like that in DA2.
  3. Gaider was the lead designer on Dragon Age 2. Maybe the man is sharp but I wouldn't say the same about his work or his attitude on the Bioforums. Back when I browsed them, I found the man aggressive, snippy and full of himself. I guess he needs better guidelines. I won't blame him though. First, it's hard to stay calm on the Internet when you have 4chan on your ass. Second, considering Bioware went full-on on the "action & romance for the Call of Duty audience" route with EA deciding the game should be done in 11 months, it was probably hard to do something remotely good. Then, Obsidian did KOTOR2 in the same amount of time. Okay, there already were assets to use but the writing was top-notch. I'm legitimaly interested by what Chris think of Dragon Age 2. Chris? On another writer, I'm way more interested by a cooperation between him and DeMarle. I have to admit the story of DE3 was shallow somehow but the dialogue were great, the characters well-defined, the world-building good and the themes interesting. even the little subtext when it came to ship teasing between Adam and Malik was cool; that's how romances should be in video games, hinted, not shoved in your throat. It just lacked a little soul. I never felt as a part of the story. Adam always seemed to be following the flow, never acting on it, despite the fact he stopped a worldwide conspiracy. I guess he never asked for this.
  4. As long as Chris is working for Brian "Kicking Forward" Fargo, you better forget it for the moment Since the writing is something that is done ahead of the coding, maybe we'll have news after this summer. You should tweet the man himself for something more precise.
  5. Voted for Berlin. Denver, Chicago and London seemed very average. More Seattle is out of the question since one of the greatest pleasures in RPGs is travelling. The Hong Kong description was fine but I've enough of chinese settings in cyberpunk. It's always very clich
  6. If you come somewhere in Paris, you're welcome for a beer.
  7. http://shadowrun.wik...ES)/Walkthrough Try that Well, looks like there is no plotline at all. Thanks to you and sorophx anyway. I'll give a try to the Genesis game before I try the SNES game again. At least, I did everything in the morgue right. If only I could explroe and find the apartment without getting shot at everytime.
  8. They own the engine and already have the programmers to use it so technically, it would only cost the salaries of the said programmers. I think. On another subject, I'm also agreeing with WUE here. While it's cool to see Chris getting pumped for a new Planescape game, securing the rights of the license from Wizards of the Coast/Atari would cost too much money, money I'd rather see spent on more missions, more characters and more world-building, especially since Tim Cain is now at Obsidian. Besides, it is the opportunity to create a brand new world and craft a new blessed name in the current WRPG world. Chris, if you read us, see what can make you (and us) Dream.
  9. Since everyone is talking of Shadowrun recently, I tried to give a go to the SNes game, especially since they mentioned its hero in the last kickstarter video. After one hour spent on the game, I know have one tiny question that spawned in my mind: WHAT THE **** AM I SUPPOSED TO DO? Seriously, that's terrible. I find matches and a paper mentioning a warehouse and a club named Wastelands (Coincidence). I get out of the morgue, some guy tell me I'm done for and run away. I follow him, he get killed, I get his gun, kill the assaillant, encounter a cryptic cyber-dog and then, nothing else to do. I'm supposed to bring him objects. What objects? Why can't I explore because everyone is trying to kill me? Why is there no warehouse nor Wastelands club anywhere? Why is there no objective? Why do I want to channel the AVGN? I'm all for complex games but there is a line to NOT cross between complexity and vagueness. i sure hope that new game won't do that.
  10. Since it's No Mutants Allowed we're talking about, I thought that "F" standed for "****ing". Well then.
  11. Actually, I wondered about the context concerning the chat itself. Apparently, I've been influenced by some answers because it's just an initiative Fryan Bargo did on his free time with MCA/CFA/JCA/Fruity. Nerdy Internet communities sure love to nickname Chris. By the way, we got a new cool piece of art: http://i.imgur.com/u0cTY.jpg
  12. Woah, Reddit sure is clunky, I can't understand what was going on. Was it something they did during the PAX convention or after? Was this planned out or did they decide to have some kind of after-interview because they were overwhelmed by questions during the PAX meeting? Edit: By the way, hanging on this website gave me the opportunity to find some shuddering links, courtesy of Chris: http://www.megacynics.com/2011/07/22/teen-idols/. TOM SCHOFFER.
  13. Hey, what else can I say? I know it's not always a bad thing for a company to restructure itself and concentrate on its core competencies but all that talent bleeding is worrying me.
  14. No wonder why Chris is looking older than usual in recent vids. Except for the one he did with Brian Fargo. Damn, I'm a "PR guy"
  15. I think "Crap" would be the best and most eloquent way to demonstrate my feelings at this moment. That's sad, I loved your work on MotB. Besides, Obsidian always felt like the best company to allow writers to shine. I hope your next position will permit you to make good use of your excellent writing.
  16. "Past". Mmmmh, maybe he just got a new position.
  17. Aside from the total lack of answer I got for my question, Wasteland 2 reached 2.1M thanks to Paypal's donations. Chris is confirmed on board. This game is going to be a blast.
  18. And here goes 115 bucks once again. Just not yet though.
  19. And could you please explain why? Tigranes: Well, Mitsoda can do like Avellone and work for Fargo while planning his own project. But well, too many cooks spoil the soup I guess.
  20. Now, let's wait for another old school RPG designers like Garriott, Spector or Mitsoda. Wasteland 2 better be awesome because it's certainly raising my hopes now. If it works well, I hope Brian Fargo will make a remake of Wasteland 1.
  21. "Arcanmum", "hamred", "ofm", "comabt", "greta", "dodn't", "teh". ...And all in two mere lines. Dude, your grammar sucks ass. Make an effort if you want to be read. We're not on MSN. And stop with the "LOLZ" and the likes, it makes you look like an edgy tough 14 years old kid nobody want to argue with. But maybe that's the point.
