Fallout 3 had a compass with red hashes for enemies in perception range.

I'd probably break my hand if I tried to use a 17 button mouse. 5 buttons max for me, thx.

Interesting. Some of those I think are good; some not so much. I guess that's what happens when a publisher makes a voice actor do a bazillion different npcs in the same game. Bethie really needs to spring for at least a few more voice actors, just to reduce the repitition a bit. Even just a half dozen more for less important parts would make a big difference.
-
I agree Wes Johnson is fab. What npcs did Craig Sechler do?
-
^This looks like my kind of game.

Pretty nice. I don't get the bad graphics charge at all. Looks great. Conversation option: "Headslam" good for a lolz.

I thought the critical failures in Arcanum, where a low level/high strength character could actually kill themselves on a critical failure melee attack, were pretty cool. Nothing more ignominous than getting game over cause you chunked your player character with a bad punch at a wolf.

It's like they're selling fastfood hamburgers. No wonder video games freaking suck so bad these days.

IIRC that thread was more about the science aspect not the history aspect. IMO it's a pretty big difference.
-
Is this really that big a problem? Those in charge always rewrite history to suit their ends. History has been rewritten more often than Wikipedia enteries. It's unlikely than any history that exists beyond living memory is entirely accurate and that even more recent history is all ready is more myth and folktale and blind assumption and guesswork than fact.

I pretty much agree. I'd expect low 80's, b/b+, 8/10 type scores. It doesn't have the hype behind it to score the "best game evar" type of reviews. I'm expecting personally to like it a lot. Graphics aren't much of a concern for me, although AI is always an important part of games such as this. But the AI in DX was pretty poor, so it can't be worse than that.

In F3 that was actually the result of a bad ragdoll constraint on the yao guai. A couple of other creatures had similar problems, I believe. But anyway, I think the ragdoll was causing creatures like yao guai to go shooting off into the sky sometimes even from mundane deaths. Did the same sort of thing affect the Protectrons? Its was always a bit unsettling the way pieces of them would bounce all around, including way up into the sky, before settling to the ground. This seemed to happen a lot when a new area loaded. I remember once killing the super mutant master with the rocket launcher who is stationed in that unreachable balcony in Georgetown. His body went flying so high that I lost sight of it and was unable to find it. IIRC, and this seems totally weird so maybe not, I seemed to stumble across his body in an entire other map, Pennsylvania Ave, lying by the subway entrance. Is that even possible? Maybe it was another body from when the Brotherhood dudes blew up the bus.

I haven't noticed before (not that I was looking very closely) but supermutants have definitely seen some work. Not the exact same assets as we were told originally. They still look a bit like orcs (or The Incredible Hulk, or Frankenstein, or, or... ) but at least they're detailed orcs now. They do look a bit more refined. I assumed though that was becuase the resolution was much higher than what I played in. (1024*768)

When I get a new pc from some place like Dell, which doesn't happen often for precisely this reason, I immediately delete the partitions and begin again. All that junk they pre-install is ludicrous.

No the game recounts the harshness of surviving in a vagina in a manner much as this: "Captain's Log" We lost 10 men and our fort yesterday to the attack of the one eyed worm, it's imperative that we rebuild our fortress before the red tide comes. Seriously, this game is a horrible idea. Does it really say that? Not good. Not good at all.

hmm. Do you really consider this box art discussion a lather? Seems more like a musing. Or a pondering. no doubt you could describe any fo issue discussed in this place as a "musing" or "pondering." wouldn't be appropriate, but you could do so. HA! Good Fun! Probably. I don't really think lather is appropriate either. The foaming at the mouth just isn't there. I'm not feeling it anyway. Anywho, I don't think we actually disagree on anything. Other than maybe the inferred meaning of lather.
-
Absolutely. When I'm really looking forward to a game, I usually steer clear of any info about the game. FO:NV is a bit different though in that I expect it will pretty much be like a FO3 expansion pack, so any surprise beyond the story will be minimal regardless. Some new armor, some new weapons, new locations (all fo which are great) but the same basic game. Additionally, having played FO3 extensively, I know that if certain changes are made, and I find out about them it will make me look forward to the game even more (such as finding out that the repair system has been changed. Would make me very happy.)

I'd still like to know if the repair system has been changed. I'm guessing not though or it would have been mentioned. Not really any need to keep it sekret.

Well, if he had really become some sort of harness for zero point energy or oimething, somebody would have kidnapped him all ready and taken him to a lab for dissection. I mean his body is getting energy from somewhere, right? Ley lines?
-
There's always geothermal. Or wind. Perhaps he spins around really fast when no one is looking.
-
Considering our entire Fallout:NV forum is compressed into one multi-purpose thread at a time, I'd say we've been pretty low-key and reserved.

Hey, we(?) did it with Alpha Protocol. Everyone loved the end result. Except the Dragon Age fanboys at Gametrailers, but those don't count. At a guess, I would say that change was either the results of: A ) focus groups b ) Segas new PR firm c ) all of the above

little bits o' funny is fine. Ernest Goes To Fallout? Not so much. As for the box art? *shrug* Why not talk about it? It's there; we can see it; the developers don't guive us much of substance to discuss. I don't think anybody here is expecting or desiring our discussion to cause Beth to redo the box art. It's just fodder for the mill, as it were.
