BREAKING NEWS: FALLOUT 3 TO FEATURE TEXT
Slowtrain replied to Llyranor's topic in Computer and Console
I'm not saying who speaks for who. All I am saying is that when people who spend their money on your product offer feedback, any good company takes that feedback seriously. You can get away with living in an ivory tower for a while, but it eventually catches up with you. (By you I don't mean you, Volourn, just you in general. I'm not sure what that means. I was just responding to RN's statement that devs shouldn't listen to fans. ALl I said was no customers = no money. You don't appear to be in disagreement with that. -

As if there is any argument that hasn't already been pummelled to death years ago on this here internet. -
BREAKING NEWS: FALLOUT 3 TO FEATURE TEXT

Wrong. If you are in a business that provides goods or services to people for money, you damn well better listen to their feedback. Some fans are, some aren't. Dismiss them all at your own risk. The devevlopers skill and knowledge only has value because there are people willing to pay money for it. No customers= no money. Period. -
The prologue is really just a tutorial, although it sets up the plot. Chapter 1 is a bit bland in terms of the content of the quests, but no more so than BG or Arcanum or Fallout. Once you get into the city in chapter 2, things become more complex. Let me just add, that it is still just a crpg and it is hardly a world beater in terms of writing and stuff. Its better than Oblivion though.

BREAKING NEWS: FALLOUT 3 TO FEATURE TEXT

Developer should always listen to the fans. Its part of the job. They shouldn't always DO what the fans want, but the should always listen. As to your corollary: There are those like me who do not just buy any game regardless. It would be helpful if there were more of us, true. -
Also, when one is dealing with something as twitchy as pcs, machines which are prone to malware infections, software conflicts, hardware failures and general OS decay, it should be expected that games will be installed multiple times by people. I take pretty good care of my pc but I've had three hard drives failures in the last 2 years, which meant of course three reinstalls just for that reason for any games I want to play. Happily it hasn't caused me any problems, but I certainly understand why such issues concern people.

BREAKING NEWS: FALLOUT 3 TO FEATURE TEXT

True. Its not like the fans are buying the games and allowing the developers to make a living or anything. -
Curently playing the new WItcher. Its funny that even though I enjoyed the game when I played it previously, I am really enjoying it now. Its even a better game than I gave it credit for being previously.

Like STALKER the game has a nice sense of atmosphere to it. It seems for whatever reason that European developers seem to be better at that sort of thing than US developers. Hopefully Bethesda has captured some of the same in Fallout 3.

Awesome. I would put that in my sig. However, I just want to note that Oblivion is in fact a bad game. For all the reasons you mention, plus more. Still, totally awesome.

BREAKING NEWS: FALLOUT 3 TO FEATURE TEXT

You're wrong. Morrowind was even worse. I didn't think Bethesda could do worse after Morrowind. That's where I was wrong. Horribly horribly wrong. Either way, I would hate to have to live on the difference. I wouldn't call Daggerfall a well-written game either, however there were a few differences between it and the later ES games that means I don't judge it quite so harshly. FIrst of all it was such a huge game and randomly generated to boot so it was pretty hard to think that the devs could write great stuff for all of it. Secondly, the story of Daggerfall was by far the best of the ES games (which isn't saying all that much, I agree), and while it may not have been well-written textwise, it was certainly well thought out and presented (for a computer game). -
I'm about half-way through chapter 1 and I can tell there been quite a bit of change, but it is pretty subtle, an extra line here and there, some slight re-translations. It makes the game seem a lot less disjointed.

BREAKING NEWS: FALLOUT 3 TO FEATURE TEXT

Shivering Isles isn't "good" dialogue. Or even notable. It's simply "better" then Oblivion. And considering Oblivion is the worst written crpg ever, excpeing maybe Lands of Lore 3, that's not saying anything good. I do agree that dropping large amounts of text (the "lorebombs") on players isn't neccessarily a good story-telling technique either. But there is a huge difference between quality of writing and quantity of writing. Simply subsituting large quantities of text doesn't equal quality, but otoh, a small quantity of text doesn't equal quality either. -
I applied the blood patch, but haven't noticed anything. Did I do something wrong?
-
I played through the intro. In the previous version it would have crashed at least once. No crashes in this version. Yay.
-
I went to the store and bough the new version instead of trying to get the patch for the original version. Installing now.
-
That is such an awesome game. Its funny how it was so heavily criticized for being too demanding of the hardware.
-
BG3. I'm sure it would do the series proud. Or is that too negative. Perhaps Bethesda will buy it from Atari and Todd Howard will be the lead designer.
-
I'm not on good terms with Fileplanet.
-
For those who are interested here is a link to a thread on getting the patch: http://www.thewitcher.com/forum/index.php?topic=16804.0 Be warned: Their site is running very slowly right now.
-
Huge amounts of traffic on their site atm. DLing is basically a no go. Will try later. Am a little concerned about the fact that I replaced my hard drive recently and will need to reinstall The WItcher on this new one. I am afraid the required re-registration to activate the patch wont work since I have no idea what username I used on the previous instalaltion and registration.

43 hours remaining. lol. This may take a while.
-
That's awesome thank for the heads up. Going to go see if I can get it now.

How is it?

XCOM is fab. I'm replaying WIz 8 at the moment. I've moved it up to one of my top 5 games of all time. It really is great.
