  1. Just throwing out some ideas here so feel free to shoot holes in them if you see any. They may or may not be total crap depending on your opinion. I think there are other ways that they could have gotten around the forced characters for the first section of the game with Neeshka and Khelgar. Sure, it might make the beginning fights in the crypts really tough, although I'm sure you could find a way around this. I've got a few ideas, but I don't know how much work they would actually require to implement. I can think of a few alternate ways of dealing with Shandra, one of them just being bleed her for the blood you need then dump her in the street somewhere, however the problem with this is how do you get around the problem of Jerro being nearly invincible within his stronghold? I suppose you could attempt to talk to him, but he didn't seem like someone who would really stop and listen. Perhaps a set of dialogues within the battle itself ala "Sleeps with Vibroblades" (Whatever his name was from Kotor2) during which you would have a chance to persuade him of your intentions. That leads into Jerro himself being a required member. The way I would have loved to see his power being required is neat, although likely very, very frustrating for those that don't figure out how to do it. During the second fight with the King of Shadows with all the little versions, make it so that they respawn fast enough that if you try to kill them off one at a time, it is impossible. Alter the fight so that the respawn quickly as long as there is at least one of them left. The fight only ends if you manage to kill that last one before another one can spawn in. That way the web power in tandem with which ever power it is that you have that can damage all enemies touched by the web, becomes much more useful. Needs some work, but it's a start. Bishop is easy enough to get around. A: You already know how to track so you head off yourself. B: Ask Sand for some divination magic to help out. C: Possible extra one-shot character that only sticks around till you get to the gith hideout.
  2. Just looking at the screenshots posted on the Morrowind website, it does look as though there are some that look really bad and some that look pretty good. I recall when I played NWN for the first time that I wasn't exactly blown away by the graphics, but I never thought they were utter crap. They were pretty average. I wouldn't go so far as to say they are still, or even were good, but they worked well enough.
  3. At least you managed to spell Neeshka right this time. I actually like Neeshka, partly because she kinda reminded me of Imoen. I still much prefer Imoen because there is at least some emotional attachment to her what with the whole childhood friend/sister thing and because Neeshka acts a lot more childish than Imoen ever did. What I would have loved to have seen would be to have forced NPC's depending on your class. You need Bishop in order to track down Shandra, but what if you are playing a ranger, or even a barbarian perhaps? In that case I should have thought that you would have been able to track her down yourself without his help. Later on when you need someone to read the true names, why can't you do it yourself if you happen to have a (just for example) 16+ intelligence, or even have Sand decipher them. I don't believe that he can't figure out how to read them himself.
  4. Obviously you can talk to him later, but I think there should have been an option along the lines of "I'm the Knight-Captain. I'll decide what is important, not you."
  5. All that information is already in the chatbox, so all you need is a floaty text toggle.
  6. Perhaps in the I hate you, but I can't kick you out because you said I can't way. He's at least useful though unlike GOTO.
  7. That second picture looks kinda odd with the way some of the ripples just get cut off.
  8. I want to know what the heck my characters were doing while the Jerro's where playing teleport tag. <_<
  9. I'm pretty confidant that at least some of the "OMG IT'S NOT 3D!!!" would go away if they lowered the spheres so that they encompassed the entire character. The only thing that really makes me think that the NWN1 spell effects were 3D was the circle where the spell effect touched the ground. Which spells from NWN1 do you think had the best spell effects? No epic spells please.
  10. I wonder if it would be possible to implement some sort of mass spell blindness effect on anyone who tries to engage you in melee with those NWN2 spells. That's gotta be like trying to shoot the sun. :D
  11. Part of the problem that you are descibing with the lack of 3d feel is because of the positioning of the circle. It doesn't actually reach the ground, it cuts off at about the ankles of the character so you can't get the circle around the ground. Shadow Shield After Visage: Yes, I just cast everything starting with the level one spells and worked my way up, because the lower level spells had the longer duration. I could try again in reverse. If I use extend spell I should be able to get them all in before the first ones run out. There are a good 30 spells active on that character... NWN2 spell effects: The problem isn't the effects themselves from what I see, it's that so many of them have the same sphere pattern. At least half of the spells on that character have a sphere going around the character, but when you have that many it makes it hard to differentiate between the effect from one spell and the next. A little more variety (IE, fewer spheres around the character) would likely clear that up somewhat.
  12. Actually both of them do have Shadow Shield on. But you are right, I did forget spell resistance. I just quickly leveled two sorcerors to level 20 and used the spells that I had from there. Not really fair to compare epic spells as NWN2 doesn't have those.
  13. Just for comparison purposes I did up two fully buffed sorcerors for your use here.
  14. At least I believe that I'm still the only one to get a 0.000 second one on the reaction time test.
  15. My mouse just died so I'll have to beat you all later.
  16. Hah! I tried again and got one of the sheep at 0.000 seconds. EDIT: I've got you beat now. 0.1816!
  17. I won't flame him, I doubt Roshan, Wistrik, or Volourn will either. Well maybe Volourn, but he's unpredictable like a barrel of TNT. :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Those ones aren't the people I was worried about.
  18. I only got .2268. I had one that brought my average up. I was repositioning my hand on my mouse right after getting one, but a second came along maybe .5 seconds after it so I wasn't ready.
  19. I'd say go ahead and play something else. There is still enough left in chapter three that if you are already hitting the "move on to something else" stage that just trying to play through is going to be rough. Soulthief: That's not what I meant. It was just a "If you start, you are going to bring all the others down that want to do nothing but flame you and ruin this thread" post.
  20. Depends. Where are you in the game right now?

  22. A time out helps. When I feel something is starting to bore me, I limit my playing time with it or just move on to another game. I go through game cycles where I will play different games and by the time I reach the game I was growing bored with, I will be eager and fresh to tackle it once again. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I do the same thing. I've been spending less and less time with Neverwinter nights over the past 5 days or so. Been kinda looking at the huge pile of games I have next to my computer and going "Hmm, that might be fun, or how about that one?" I think I feel an RTS binge coming on...
  23. I can't seem to get into the game anymore. I now have three characters that I've started and have gotten each one up to the weeping willow inn, but I just can't seem to bring myself to get any farther than that before I lose interest. Maybe it's time to take a break from NWN2 for a little while...
  24. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  25. Hurray for stating opinions like fact!
