  1. Moving Meditation is basically a way for you to repair T3 if he's injured in battle and recover FP if I'm not mistaken. I've never had a chance to use it, as I don't take him into battle much, but I believe that's what the guide says it does. As for the hologram itself, it's dependent on the gender of Revan. Males get Bastila, Females get Carth. Either way it's not the hologram I'm so concerned about, but the conversations that follow. Though I have heard that T3 tends to be one of the more buggy characters in the game. I know mine is. He's pure LS, but whenever he's on the level up screen, his display is that full DS black on red bit. I found it amusing. Anyway, thanks for the tips though, I'll work on those stats on my latest play through and see if that corrects the problem. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I was a male and I got Carth in the hologram recording... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Indeed? That's odd. Well, that was largely assumption on my part anyway. There is a Bastila hologram, or so people have said. I would have thought a Male Revan would have led to a Bastila hologram.

  3. Alright, so I bought the players guide a few days back. I've beaten the game twice now, but I thought I'd get it to read up on how to get certain conversations for the characters I didn't pay as much attention to. Namely the DS-ers, because heaven knows a LS player can't get influence over them. My questions are these: How can I make T3 show me the holorecording? I've completely repaired him and recieved the Moving Meditation ability, and I've seen the little scene on the Hawk where he zaps HK for trying to tamper with the Navigation System. However, in the Player's Guide, it says that after this at some point, Atton mentions that T3 is responsible for the locking of the system, and after that you are supposed to be able (with high enough Intelligence and Computer Skills) to get him to tell you about the recording and from there you can ask him if they're friends of his, etc. The thing is: My intelligence is 14 and my computer use before the point of no return was in the high 20's or nearing 30 if memory serves me correctly. And despite this, I could not get the option to come up. Nor do I recall Atton ever saying a word about T3 and the navigation system. My other question: Once again, in the PG, it says that with a high enough gain *or* loss (is that even right??) of influence over HK you can get him to tell you about Revan. The problem here is that there are no more conversation options left with him that lead to any influence gain or loss. There is the question about the War, and the one about Revan that he won't answer, and then there's another about the HK 'clones.' Despite picking them numerous times, I can't seem to get them to go away, or to give me any influence one way or the other. The third and final question: Though I believe this to be a screw up on the part of the editors/writers of the guide, it mentions that you can gain the Thought Check ability on your human party members after Kreia teaches you to read minds. I've never gotten it, and at the end of the game, I did have a handful of 'unknown Force power' slots left. Was this in a beta version and removed, or has my game suffered one of the many glitches? Can this be remedied? Am I just screwing up somewhere? Any help would be appreciated.
  4. For my first play through, I 'romanced' Atton, though to be honest, I'm not sure if I did it right or not. He didn't seem to say anything that different. The only indication I had was My question is: Is it even possible for a Female to romance Bao-Dur? I thought about trying that on my second play through.
  5. After reading this entire thread, I can say only that I agree with the majority here. While I loved KOTOR II's darker overall plot, at the end I felt more confused than I had at the beginning. And I hadn't thought that could be possible in a game. My main complaint is the fact that the major ideas seemed hopelessly underdeveloped. As some have said, this is especially obvious with Nihilus. I was terrified of facing the man, but when I actually met him face-to-face, he was a pushover. I had been under the impression that he was to be the big threat, the one that would give you the hardest run. And the whole thing with your character being an echo and a wound that would unravel everything seemed...somehow rushed or not well explained. Perhaps I just went thought the game too fast. I do intend to replay it in a few days. All in all, it's like someone said earlier, it seems like a story that was written a little too fast and things got skimmed over. Or maybe I just wasn't picking up on the nuances here and there.
  6. My brother also fell victim to the Dantooine freeze. He finally got it to work yesterday while I was gone, but he's not sure how. I guess it just finally went through. I asked him if he had done anything differently and he said that to his knowledge he hadn't. So I don't know what to tell you really. But I have to agree, it's ridiculous that the game crashes as much as it does. Regardless of which X-Box you have, it shouldn't be like this. Even some with newer systems are having problems as I understand it. And our X-Box is one of the newer ones as well.
  7. The freezing could be explained by old drives perhaps, but the broken quests and the fact that my copy of KOTOR freezes at the Dantooine 'revelation' scene if you're playing DS have nothing to do with drives. It's just bugs in programming. I thought companies paid hundreds to professional debuggers, or at the least had a debugging staff.
  8. Well, the only glitch I experienced in the Light Side was in Korriban when you reach Kreia and are faced with fighting her or your party. After I fought off the rest of my party, she's supposed to disappear, but she didn't, so I talked to her again, and the scene repeated itself. So I got double the light points. But the biggest glitch I've found is in the DS. My brother just told me about this yesterday. He said that once he got to Dantooine where you are supposed to meet the Jedi Masters (provided you play LS), the game just focuses on a blank space as if they Masters are supposed to be there, but will do nothing else. I'm guessing this is a DS only glitch, as it didn't happen to me, but I really need to know if it's just my disc that's messed up, so I can return it, or if the game itself is suffering from massive bugs. This is starting to sound eerily like the Star Ocean 3 recall debacle in Japan....
  9. That's great! At least this way there are quite a few more variations that can occur, which gives me a reason to play this one 20,000 times, as opposed to the 10,000 I played the other. I'd just like to say (as if everyone here hasn't already) that I think you guys did an excellent job with KOTOR 2 from what I can see, and I have great expectations of the game.
  10. I'd love a chance to go to something of this nature. Sadly, I live on the opposite coast. And final exams are coming up. Why is it that Ca gets all the fun gaming events? Poor east coast feels left out....
  11. I could see how you'd take it that way. ...Worded wrong, my own fault. But no. Most of my friends are guys who play RPG's and they're in no way feminine. It just seems that (judging from reactions of editors/writers of certain gaming magazines) alot of guys prefer shooters, sports, or general action to RPG's. But then again, I've never taken my own poll and figured out the statistics, so this is largely conjecture and extrapolation on my part.
  12. Now there's a thought. That would be a good idea. It would add even more replay value, since you'd have more than one person to romance, and more than one way to end it. Not to mention it'd give you a little more choice in how your character's love life plays out at the end.
  13. No, because as I believe I stated earlier, I don't care what the industry says about the game's status. If I like it based on what I've seen, then I'll buy it, regardless of whether or not it gets GOTY. The people who decided it are largely, if not all, men. And men prefer the destruction of opponents. It's old leftover instinct. Which means Halo 2 probably calls to them more...and KOTOR II will have to settle for RPG of the year. If this weren't the Halo year, KOTOR II would have GOTY hands down, I would think. But it is a Halo year, and with all the (ridiculous amounts of) hype that surrounded it, KOTOR doesn't stand a chance.
  14. Actually, the other RPG's that came out this year were all rather sad. Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne was the only one worth the time, really. LOTR: The Third Age was good, but not that good. La Pucelle Tactics? (Was that even this year?) A Disgaea clone. Just from the aspect of Heaven instead of Hell. KH: CoM, not a chance. I like KH, but a GBA game doesn't have a prayer. Fable wasn't half of what it was hyped to be. And there's plenty other RPG's I'm missing, but the point is, of all the RPG's this year only Nocturne and KOTOR II seem to have a shot of standing up to Halo 2 or Half-Life 2. For the record, no, I don't play many PC RPG's, so I know nothing of them and I'm not going to comment on them because of that lack of knowledge. There may be some there that can contend for GOTY. Perhaps if an Elder Scrolls game had come out this year, I'd agree with you, but as it is, I just can't see any other RPG's making the cut.
  15. I think it'll be nominated, but the powers that be (read: The men in the gaming industry that decide these things) prefer blowing things up and killing competitors online to dark storylines and character development. So it'll be nominated, but Halo 2 will win just because everyone expects it to. I find both Halos to be horribly overhyped. They're good, but still overhyped. Regardless of what is decided by the industry, KOTOR II is my GOTY. I don't put much stock into what others think.
  16. Well, I find it all completely fascinating. I've been trying to avoid any and all information on KOTOR II for the simple reason that I want to be able to sleep at night for the remaining few days until it is released. But then I saw the almighty thread on romances and...well....that plan went to hell. I'm so hyped up now it's ridiculous. The only thing I'm concerned about is how it almost sounds like you'll romance a character, but it won't end in anything worthwhile. And I find that rather frustrating in a game. Reminds me of Legaia 2 or...LOTR: The Third Age. If I'm going to sink time into a romance, I at least want it to have a conclusion, for good or ill. I don't want it to be so 'behind the scenes' that it's non-existant and leaves barely a trace on the game itself.
  17. I'd wondered about that myself. I've never seen a cross-species relationship in the movies, and in the 50 odd EU books I've read I've never encountered it really either. I don't know if it's illegal, or if people just refrain from it. Biologically speaking, the DNA composition would be too different for any such pairing to produce viable offspring anyway, so...*shrugs* Perhaps that's why most don't. Maybe it's some form of taboo.
  18. Revan in the kitchen.... I don't mind which gender Revan is, as I said. I think either one is believable in its own right. As for Bastila, yeah. I found her annoying myself, but I'm not about to get into that here. This place seems to be male-dominated, and the men tend to like Bastila. And I value my peace, so I'm not saying anything.
  19. A true Sith respects power, Male or Female, no? Until, of course, they become more powerful than their master, at which point they kill said Master. If Revan was more powerful than Malak, he would assume the role of apprentice, bide his time, then take her out. (I'm assuming a female Revan here to answer the question, don't start having fits.) Not to mention that the Council did say that Malakk took the role of Apprentice grudgingly. The Council also said they were close friends. I know I wouldn't mind serving under my friend if they were more apt in the Force than myself, regardless of gender.
  20. Purple of the original KOTOR colors, but I'd prefer a silver blade like Corran Horn's. If in fact a silver is created (I've read rumors around that it's supposed to be in TSL, but I don't put much stock in those), I'll probably drop my traditional staff style and use two separate blades, one purple, one silver for a nice effect.
  21. Force Confusion, because I like nothing better than turning my enemies into whimpering children that are so terrified they run all over each other. But the Clairvoyance and Sight sound interesting as well. Hm...decisions...
  22. Either one, really. I've played as a female, and I've watched my brothers play through as males, and both genders have an equally believable and enjoyable plot line. Women can be mass murderers, same as men. I see it on America's Most Wanted all the time. Men are more prone to this, though. Or so it would seem. Perhaps women are just more discreet. Revan could be male or female in my book, as I see both genders as equally capable of Revan's past violence and subsequent redemption or slip back into the dark side.
  23. Hmmm... Fastlane only lasted a season and ended on a cliffhanger at that. I know they weren't intending to end it like that, but Fox in their infinite idiocy dropped it for more lame "reality" TV like "My Big Fat Fiance" and other nonesense. I also liked Dark Angel. Also dropped by Fox after 2 seasons, despite the fact that ratings were high. Fox pays too much homage ot the reality TV idol.
  24. I'd love to be able to put the hood up or down. That was the one thing both me and my brother complained about in KOTOR I. The lack of hoods for the robes. Some had them, but you couldn't use them. I think they add the air of mystery and suspense, and I pray Obsidian rights this tiny little wrong.
  25. I think it had more to do with how the Forge drew on the Force powers of the user, even for small duties like item creation. If Revan was LS, then the Force it drew would be LS, thus creating robes more suited to a Light Sider, and vice-versa for the DS.
