  1. Exactly. When was the last time you saw a dev from Obsidian on the Obsidian boards?
  2. Hey JE, have you had any contact with the dev kits yet? I know you're not a programmer, but but I'm guessing you know a few and I'd just like to hear from a dev's mouth which is more powerful, which is easier, are they about equal, etc.
  3. Since its ep 7 instead of a standalone series, I'd have Luke rebuilding the Jedi Order, and only have cameos by Han and Leia, since they'd be off raising their family and running the new Republic. If it was starting a new trilogy I would have it end with Luke's apprentice killing him and claiming the title of Dark Lord of the Sith and escaping, while one of the other students of the New Jedi Order(No relation to the books, as apparently they suck) steps up to lead the order and defeat the new "Dark Lord" and his followers. Eventually this new Dark Lord would meet up with the remnants of the Empire, build up, and return for a final battle against the new republic in episode 9.
  4. I never had a problem with save points in Star Ocean. If I remember right you can save in every city, and theres usually at least 2 in each dungeon. My problem was money. Well... until you recruit enough good inventors to start pumping out moneymakers.
  5. Well if you like JRPGs theres plenty. Suikoden 3, Xenosaga is good if you don't mind a LOT of cinematics(60 hour game, you play about 20-30 hours of it, the story is awesome though), Star Ocean: Till the End of Time is good, Kingdom Hearts is a good Action RPG. Theres also Xenosaga 2 and Suikoden 4, but I haven't played them so I can't reccomend them.
  6. Well, GTA never appealed to me. It's just I've heard from tons of people that each new GTA that comes out really only adds a small bit compared to the last one. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, this is pretty much how it went: GTA3 - Moved the GTA series into 3d. GTA: Vice City - Same as GTA3 + more vehicles, property owning, larger city, different outfits, different story, indoor missions. GTA: San Andreas - Same as Vice City + No loading between areas, 3 cities about the same size as GTA: Vice City, plus rural areas in between, airplanes, LOTS more vehicles, romances, minigames up the wazoo(you can play pool in bars, and old school atari-esque arcade machines), gang wars, customizable appearance(to a degree), Physical attributes and skills, car customization. All of them use the same engine, so the graphics never get any better than GTA3, but they keep making it more efficient allowing the game to fit more on screen at a time.
  7. Much as I hate to regurgitate hype and gossip (as I haven't seen any of the next-gen consoles), I believe that the PS3 graphics are quite far advanced of the Xbox 360 (based on reviews of E
  8. And thats the best reason for going with a particular console. I for instance have chosen the PS3 for the same reason. FF, apparently Rockstar wants to really get revolutionary with GTA 4, and considering how far they pushed GTA: San Andreas, I have plenty of faith in them. MGS4, its getting Bioware support this gen, likely the next few Suikoden games, if Killzone 2 looks as good as that demo then I'd be getting that too. Where on the Xbox so far there's.... well nothing I'm interested in. Apparently it will have more japanese RPG support this gen so we'll see what happens later, but from the sounds of the potential, I might be getting both this gen.
  9. First of all, this should be in the Computer and Console forum. 2nd, I think this generation is going to be a lot more balanced than last generation. The PS3 and the 360 look like any difference in graphics will be negligible, so the only deciding factors will be Sony's online strategy, and the games on the systems. Now that the 360 has some JRPGs being developed for it, I might just get one if I have some money left over from buying my PS3.
  10. Those quotes in your sig are hilarious. Also, Sony showed off a few in game demos, Unreal Tournament 2007, Fight Night Round 3, Killing Time, and the VP of SCEA swears the Killzone 2 footage was in game. I'm not sure I believe him, but thats what he says.

    evolution

Didn't we already have an evolution thread? Anyway, according to an article I posted in the other evolution thread, they had more evidence in China of evolution in birds. They called it a "ring species" where at the point of origin the birds were the same species, then they expanded around an obstacle(mountain), meeting on the other side after a thousand years or so, and once they met on the other side they were different species, because they had evolved to adapt to their different environments on both sides of the obstacle. The same article stated that evolution has more evidence to back it up than gravity, but you don't see fundamentalists freaking out that they teach gravity in school.
  12. I think its either a modification, or the long form of the word Chibi. Which is the style of manga/anime art in kirrotu's avatar.
  13. I've heard 2 things about this movie: 1) The blowjob 2) The reaction to it at Cannes was so bad that Gallo decided not to direct anymore.
  14. The numbers were pretty funny way back around Napster. After Napster came out there was something like a 20-30% increase in CD sales. After Napster was shut down, there was around a 25-35% decrease. They actually lost sales by shutting down napster.
  15. That was the Xbox, not the 360. Sony fixed that mistake this gen, since all the devs who mentioned it, said the PS3 was easy to develop for.
  16. Where have you heard this? I've read the PS3 beats the Xbox 360 in both processor power and graphic card capacity. Apparently the 256 Mb 700 Mhz DDR3 RAM graphic card in the PS3 will be equivalent of TWO Geforce 6800 Ultra. The only thing I know about the graphic card in the Xbox 360 is that it's made by ATI and has only 10 Mb dedicated memory. Anything above that it shares with the rest of the system from the 512 Mb internal memory. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The Xbox's GPU is pretty much the same as the PS3 GPU except it uses 330 transistors instead of 300, and it runs at like 50MHz more.
  17. Well I'd say after KotOR2 came out, a good number of Xbox fans came over to the forums, outnumbering us loyalists who have been here since the beginning, so its not that surprising. Anyway, personally, I don't care which platform KotOR3 comes out on as long as theres a PC version. I played the Xbox version of KotOR2 at EB, and I didn't like the controls as much as the PC version. As for the two consoles, when it comes to power, the Cell destroys Microsoft's multi-core chip, and Microsoft's graphics chip is slightly more powerful than Sony's, but apparently the Cell is more than capable of picking up the slack.
  18. Maybe they'll start including extras like concept art, behind the scenes featurettes and such
  19. Looked it up, looks a lot like Europa Universalis, which is so different from Civ that you can't even compare them. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> All Paradox games look the same cause they use the same engine. It's a grand strategic simulator, which is essentially what Civilization boils down to. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Is the gameplay in Victoria anything like Europa Universalis 2? I know a lot of people praise EU2 and while I had fun with it, it didn't compare to the addicting fun of the Civ series. And the depth they're adding to Civ 4 makes it sound even better than before. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I haven;'t plaued EU2 before. VIctoria is primarily not about combat but economy, diplomacy and colonialism. Combat is straight forward based upon capturing regions, several regions make up a province and many provinces make a nation. The economic system in VIctoria is far more realistic and complex then the hokey stuff in Civilization. It takes into account ethnicity, productivity, income, etc, etc. War is often counterproductive as a long war is guaranteed to ruin your economy and send you into enormous debts you will spend the next 3 decades paying off. This discourages "rushes" or expanion for the mere sake of expansion and forces the player to economize the situation through diplomacy more often. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sounds cool. If I can find it next time I have some extra money I might check it out.
  20. Umm... no. The PS3 will not die just because a has-been game maker has moved to microsoft. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, seeing as the FF series and the Dragon Warrior series are I believe the top selling franchises in Japan, having Square-Enix support could make or break a system in Japan. The Xbox failed in Japan last gen because it didn't have any japanese style RPGs, which I believe are the biggest sellers over there.
  21. First piece of advice: AIM is probably the worst Instant Message software you can use.
  22. I think someone posted an interview in the video games forum that said that Bioware will be supporting the PS3.
  23. Its not going to exclude the PS3. It will either be a cross platform deal, so the FF games will be released on both, or it will be like the Gamecube deal, where they'll release one or two exclusives on the 360, while keeping the flagship titles on the PS3. They will never exclude the PS3, they can't because Sony owns a major part of the company. So far the deal is just that FFXI will be on the 360. FFXII is still a PS2 exclusive.
  24. Obsidian handed it off a couple weeks ago. Its Lucasarts thats delaying it now.
