  1. All just part of his master plan...
  2. Tell me about it. Just skip to MotB and enjoy high-tensity goodness, any single character there is worth more than the OC bunch combined.
  3. Yup, Gabe should be taking wishlists on which studios to revive at this point
  4. You're a brave man to play the OC more than once. It has bored better men than me to tears and beyond. I hope you will persevere.
  5. MotB just has the same character and a few unnecessary cameos. No idea about SoZ, but I hear it's sozzy.
  6. Sounds like the stars have aligned for a new MotB thread. Make sure you all play it.
  7. I'd say Obsidian's only really outstanding game (that I have played) is MotB, but I refuse to vote for NWN2, because the OC is a pile of doo doo. KOTOR2 had its moments, but the unfinished ending really leaves something to be desired. AP dug its own grave and barely deserves a mention for the perk system, dynamic storytelling and really pioneering a new level of douchiness in video game protagonists. NV and DS3 I have skipped for the time being.
  8. Just a head's up, GAF has a list of cheap stuff on Steam, most of which is indie games.
  9. Obviously. The Shadow King is like the lamest villain ever. GAF has compiled a list of non-advertised Steam deals.
  10. That's every other book written and the last part is strictly subjective. Also ASoIaF does a lot more third-person viewpoints of some of the more "main" characters without actually going into their heads, like Catelyn's for Robb, for example. ASoIaF might as well be magical realism save for a few very specific bits, while WoT is quite obviously epic fantasy with a bit of a twist.
  11. I don't know why people keep bringing up ASoIaF and WoT together. They are nothing alike, save for both being part of the fantasy genre and having an extensive world.
  12. I guess it's about time to switch that up, even though it's been slowly happening for a while now. The new wave of fantasy is very welcome indeed. Also won't hurt the next two books if George is heralded as the next Tolkin and millions of fans are waiting outside his house with pitchforks when he decides to troll everyone again with his blogposts...
  13. That's great, I've been trying to kill all the sacred cows here for a while now. I guess it's not really that much of an issue with everyone having wildly differing tastes, however.
  14. I haven't paid any attention to that and I'm away from my main PC for the sale anyway. I always feel bad for going along with any PR crap. Oh and NWN2 and Blood Money bought. Too bad I missed the Red Faction: Guerrilla sale...
  15. Cutscenes, feminine heroes and long TB fights. If you like that, sure why not. AKA a JRPG, take it or leave it. Awesome that NWN2 actually got in on the mad discounts. Hopefully we'll get a lot more MotB players. You couldn't pay me to play that. Make sure you try the demo before you support that with a cent. Crazy-slow and long space sim. I guess someone else can probably give a better introduction.
  16. Buut it was on discount
  17. It was one of the Steam daily sales a few days ago and is probably still at least somewhat discounted...
  18. Well, call it industrial decay. My point was that if the end result was Spector's vision, he's fallen a long way from what he used to be.
  19. This thread is going places.
  20. But since it's not a Bioware game, no personal attacks involving paedophilia will be made. I don't anyone here is in a position to make such attacks after the 30+ page Sis appreciation thread on the AP forums...
  21. Played the demo and hated it.
  22. Spector decided to make his masterpiece on the most limited platform with tacked-on motion controls and ended up with a mediocre game. I'll grant you that it might have just been him screwing up, but looking at the concept art, I get the idea that the vision and the end result parted ways somewhere along the development process. I'm sure Levine is a nice guy in person and there are certainly much worse "star developers" out there, but the reluctant "apology" about motion control pretty much sealed the deal for me. It's obviously my fault if I expect more from the guy who made System Shock 2 and Freedom Force, but that's how I feel. I have long ago abandoned buying games based solely on their genre or the developer, there are just too many good games out there for that.
  23. Levine talks a big game, but he has sold out just as Warren Spector and countless other developers. Loved his complete 180 on motion controls at this year's E3, moneyhats all around.
  24. Can't disagree with that.
  25. Bioshock brought the FPS/RPG experience to the console mainstream(with some streamlining, but basically). I never liked it, because I bought into the hype back on the 2K boards in 2007... The art deco stuff is pretty awesome, though. I don't really think Infinite will be particularly different, but at least they rotated ALL the environment/ideology/period dials this time. Bioshock 2 was just a cheap cash-in.
