  1. Exactly. That's my biggest complaint with the game.
  2. It's not true ( http://www.snopes.com/humor/letters/zantex.asp ), but it's damned funny nonetheless.
  3. You mean kind of like in this thread: http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?showtopic=91 ?
  4. I have Morrowind, without any of the expansions, and have (as mentioned above) tried to get into the game repeatedly without success. Does anyone have any suggestions for a decent, yet interesting, character for a newcomer to the game?
  5. Free roaming rodents are great as long as you don't have other pets with predatory inclinations (like some cats and dogs). I'd love to have free roaming ferrets or a rabbit, but my cats would just see them as prey. Prey that fights back, of course, ultimately leading to all sorts of damage on both sides and more vet bills.
  6. Ferrets are awesome. I'd love to have a couple, but I've got a thing about not wanting to keep caged animals. Unless it's a huge cage, but I haven't room for that. Snakes are great, and I love them, but I could never keep one. I could never bring myself to feed it what it requires.
  7. Problem with that is that you've now got a record high trade deficit that severely weakens your dollar. Retail sales are up, but you're buying imported goods rather than US-made goods, and you're not exporting very much. Tolerant or egotistical? I do not believe the US to be so tolerant...
  8. Yeah, and everything you said is exactly what is included in the urban legend myths, right down to being "told by a grunt who had been in Iraq".
  9. This could have gone in General Gaming. I've tried repeatedly to get into Morrowind, but have not had much success. To me, it kind of feels like a multi-player game but without anyone else around. It's a very empty-feeling world. However, the game world is very unique and the developers went to great lengths to give background, details and whatnot, but all of that is in NPC dialogues that are all basically the same. You spend a lot of time traveling, which is very lonely given the first- (or third-)person perspective. You've got the immersion of that view, but immersion in isolation. You do have the freedom to make any kind of character you want, which is nice. Character creation, like the game itself, is very open-ended. But like I said, I haven't played very much.
  10. Agreed! I hope it is fake... that picture makes me sad. Me too, Krazi, me too.
  11. Why do people find animals suffering funny? Are people that desperate to feel superior in the world?
  12. I love p&p gaming, but it's really difficult to get things together. I live in a small city, and there aren't gaming clubs or groups or anything like that - one is pretty forced to rely on their own devices for getting a group together. I used to play all the time, but that group of friends has pretty much scattered to the four winds. We played Cyberpunk a lot (I think it was the best campaign we had going) and a number of the Palladium games, more for the sheer fun of it (rather then that they were good systems, as they're awful systems), but the style of the games alway led to great fun. I ran a Warhammer Fantasy campaign for a while, which was great. Never got to play as a PC though.
  13. My cat catches enough mice as it is - he doesn't need more live prey. StillLife: That's what I do as well with most insects. Spiders usually stay out of the way and eat flies and such that come in the house, so I'm happy to let them stay. Though they like the bath-tub and often have to be scooped out and put somewher safe. The only insects I generally will kill are flies and fruitflies. Hate those things. Last night I had to rescue a moth from the tub.. I brought in a plant to get a shower, and there was a moth who inadvertantly got a shower with the plant. Managed to save him and he sat on my hand while drying off. Had to find a new home for him outside.
  14. I love spiders. They're absolutely fascinating... I used to have a pet tarantula, but her time was cut short by my cat.
  15. Chainsaw Mantis!
  16. You can have a good story and hack-and-slash gameplay (eg IWD1). These screenshots look very nice, but there's zero sense of any real story, dialogue, interaction etc other than combat. The sparse bit of dialogue seen looks very trite.
  17. Anyways. I like JE's shades. B)
  18. I think that notion might be a bit beyond some people here...
  19. Are the ones you're afraid of the same ones you'd want to meet?
  20. Darth Testine - they always said he had guts. Darth Vertebrate - no-one ever dared call him spineless
  21. Oh. It's not funny. It's not even clear it's a "joke"... I'll just take your advice.
  22. But what is it? Does it mean something?
  23. *blinks* What's the point of this?
  24. I'd like to meet the starter of this thread, Eldar. I don't think I've ever encountered a more fair-minded and even-tempered person on a message board, and many of his interests mirror my own. I'd also like to meet Kumquat since he's quite funny, but I'd probably feel really old.
  25. Interesting how so? And how does that merit a roll-eyes and whatever that other smiley is?
