I just finished the second season of OA and it was brilliant, the summary below from Wikipedia is a good encapsulation of the vast improvement of the second season Jesse Scheden of IGN gave The OA: Part II a score of 8.8 out of 10, saying the season is "bigger, more ambitious and much weirder than its predecessor". Amanda Bell of TV Guide gave the season a positive review, saying that "the show isn't meant for everyone, but for true believers in the OA, Part II will be a welcome fellow-up to the first." Rachel Syme of The New Republic praised the season, labeling the show as "the best, most inaccessible show on television", saying that "[she wishes] more television was this unafraid to leave its audiences fumbling for understanding."

How much of it would be recoverable though? If that's the estimated recoverable amounts, that's not very much compared to most of the world. Though the natural gas field sounds like it'd be one of the larger ones out there. Probably too late for Afghanistan to jump on the oil train, but it could still be part of a diverse economy since it's pretty rich in other mineral resources. Also investing in Afghanistan for most global oil and gas companies is simply not worth the investment due to the risk , the country is far too unstable due to the interminable belligerence and destabilizing actions of the Taliban who still want the country to be governed like some medieval, barbaric, anachronistic fiefdom where they can practice there own corrupted form of Islam

This is the actual conundrum or real debate which I still think staying in the EU is worth it considering access to the single market and the immense economic benefits this brings But of course if you want to create an economic and political union of separate countries you have to accept certain aspects of sovereignty will be sacrificed and you need to accept certain laws and regulations driven from a central government structure. Other countries have tried to create models like the EU and they have failed, like the African Union and the Arab League because there is no consistency with laws, governance and more importantly enforcing of the laws of these unions It would be very hard for most Americans to agree to this because your federal system, despite its challengers, does work and delivers real examples of prosperity and quality of life for many Americans. You dont need anymore federal influence in the affairs of states and I doubt it would be accepted in many US states And obviously the political models are fundamentally different due to several reasons like the USA being one country. Not a myriad of countries before the formation of the EU that initially had many differences like language, constitutions, currency and views around trade

I am very impressed with the effort you put in so your partner is able to understand and enjoy this ostensibly complex series, nice one

I meant to comment on this earlier, he needs be treated leniently or get a full pardon IMO I have major issues with soldiers from the various coalitions in Afghanistan or Iraq being charged with war crimes or controversial behavior unless the evidence is irrefutable like in the case of Abu Ghraib. Why do I say this, the sectarian groups and other extremist groups involved in these conflicts have never respected the Geneva Convention and have constantly committed egregious war crimes so we just need to be fair when it comes to actions of US soldiers under such conditions when dealing with enemies like ISIS, Shia extremists and AQ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abu_Ghraib_torture_and_prisoner_abuse

Do betting places even take bets for certain things? We dont want the UK to leave with no deal, it wont be good for anyone. Its funny but my family members who live in London and are all bankers normally demonstrate such prudence and restraint around global events, they never panic and arent prone to hyperbole. They voted no to leave but now they are confused and incredibly frustrated...I feel sorry for them because I do believe there is way forward that the UK parliament needs to implement. They should have another referendum with 3 choice and honestly let the people decide due to the gridlock and paralysis of the UK government around getting agreement and consensus. These 3 choices should be Leave with no deal Leave with Teresa Mays deal Dont leave After this vote then everyone needs to accept the outcome and finally deliver on it Advisory referendums are just bad form of political point collecting especially when only half of the voting population votes and result is close victory for one side of simplified question of complex issue. I don't believe that another close call referendum especially with three choices will make anything better, even though it could look solution for UK's parliament's dead lock state, but as that dead lock means that UK will leave without deal from EU, it isn't necessary thing where you need panic referendum. Currently question is if UK's parliament's non-hard-liners can come in agreement of do they want leave with existing trade deals, stay on EU or let hard-liners win with their deadlock strategy. In all the cases it is highly likely that people will not like their decision and/or its results. I hear you, here is a good thread that supports your view around the data https://www.bbc.com/news/politics/eu_referendum/results But just to clarify my point, there are 66 million people in the UK and only about 34 million voted. So yes only 50 % of the total population participated in the referendum ...and the yes Vote only won by 3 % which is exactly why I feel such a critical and important decision as leaving the EU needs reassessment, now that we have new information around BREXIT. The reality is the original strategy around BREXIT was lacking in understanding and the consequences of leaving, done unintentionally, weren't properly explained to the UK citizens which is why I support another and final referendum

Not really, I think there is real concern with political and social problems in the EU and even if we dont agree with some of the views as they may appear to be extreme these concerns cant be ignored...like border control and unregulated immigration. By ignoring them all we do is encourage populism and misconceived notions about " leaving the EU due to sovereignty objectives " Several years ago I made a point, albeit badly , that " there is no leaving the EU ". I didnt mean it literally, I meant the huge economic and political cost is simply not worth it...its pure economics and that should always be the first consideration with these types of national decisions. I did think the UK would be able to leave with some pain but the problems with BREXIT and the calamitous way the UK parliament has handled BREXIT unfortunately and unequivocally has revealed jut how complicated these decisions can become ( and I dont blame Teresa May, she didnt even vote for BREXIT ) Do betting places even take bets for certain things? We dont want the UK to leave with no deal, it wont be good for anyone. Its funny but my family members who live in London and are all bankers normally demonstrate such prudence and restraint around global events, they never panic and arent prone to hyperbole. Thats terrible, I really dont enjoy getting sick due to bad food. I have heard it can last for 1-2 days and you cant eat anything rich or too spicy Do you think its the Chicken ....but getting sick the next day seems too long for it to be that so is it the fires ? Funny enough excessive alcohol normally makes me sick but that has to be where I mix tequila and normal spirits like Brandy and Vodka....yes my friends say I mustn't drink so many shooters but its hard to say no when you already inebriated and feel invincible and also its not all the time but last night was one of my last farewells and I was sick this morning at about 3 am

Trump payed Smollett to distract people away from himself. This is why Smollett got two Nigerian Immigrants, because he knew Trump would betray him by sicking the police investigators on him. He didn't want two white dudes in MAGA hats to be accosted endlessly by the media, knowing the Nigerians would be given leeway and he'd bare all the risk of backlash. This deal was struck because he was tired of Empire which wasn't paying him enough, and wanted to retire in peace. #TotallyNotFakeNews This is a joke right ...I thought it was real at first

Not really unusual as Trump supported the principle of Wikileaks during the election so he may believe Assange can help him in another way, Assange is a hypocrite and lacks moral compass...I am looking forward to the day he gets hopefully extradited to the USA to face federal charges.....but what type of person would want to live in an embassy since 2012!!!!! He might as well just go to normal jail ....I wonder what he does every day since he cant ever leave?

Interesting question, if this is about the USA political climate its important to not conflate the current issues with other global ideological conflicts where there is no interest in reconciliation or working for a common good....I dont think the USA is at this stage at all even if it may feel like that if you are a citizen Anyway back to the question, an ideological war is normally rigid and not really a place for reasonable debate. So people generally dont care about conversion but rather unwavering support for there side? What is your view on the current USA political climate ?

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/08/world/middleeast/shamima-begum-baby-isis.html What do you guys think about this development, in summary when ISIS created its false caliphate in 2014 there propaganda machinery attracted several thousand Sunni Muslims to make the egregious mistake of leaving Western countries to actually travel and join the ISIS in there brutal campaigns in various ME areas Most of these people have been killed but there are also the ISIS families who are now interned in camps in Syria where it can be decided what to do with them This young lady wants to now go back to the UK, she was also initially pregnant but lost the baby, as she was a UK citizen before she ran away at the age of 15 to join ISIS. I would absolutely refuse her any entry back to the UK which is exactly what happened ....she made her bed and now needs to live with it

I can understand the valid and understandable criticism around this entire subterfuge, it is really unacceptable what Smollett did and this will cost him his career which is exactly what he deserves But it is fairly common for certain events in most countries to immediately get a response and opinion from politicians and some in the media, I wouldn't see this as unique to the USA. People should rather only comment once the facts are known...less embarrassing

I guessed probation but I have negative zero faith in our system The sentence seems inadequate for many but Manafort did cooperate on certain issues and he also will be sentenced next week for other crimes he committed so his current sentence should,be extended ? https://thehill.com/regulation/court-battles/432959-manafort-faces-first-round-of-sentencing

The Political Thread - Browncoat edition... down with the Alliance!
BruceVC replied to Gorth's topic in Way Off-Topic
This is the most naive thing ever. Not only do people rally behind individual leaders. But party platforms change and are not reliable constants. The last thing people want to do these days is merely tow the party line based on what it represents, not what it does. People become partisan because of their general orientation, but will refuse to vote outright given the wrong lineup of candidates. I dont think this is accurate even if it seems logical Trump has changed the Republican party in some ways but you can definitely argue he has made some historical and ideological changes that suit the established, conservative base. These have always been important issues to some Conservatives in the USA. like some of these Tax Breaks to improve the economy Kavanaugh appointment to ensure the SC is correctly ideological balance (important to some Conservatives ) Attempts to abolish Obamacare and other changes to Obamas presidency I doubt Trump would have beaten Hilary Clinton if he ran as an independent and he could have , the Republican party does offer institutions and resources to any presidential candidate once elected that make there job ostensibly easier If enough people really wanted radical change then there would be another independent party inn the USA but realistically people in most Democracies vote for the political party. Of courser the candidate matters but his views cant be anathema to most core fundamental party objectives or it would be inconsistent to what the party stands for ? -

Bernie Sanders means well as I have said in the past so my view of him is not personal but him also joining the Democratic race just adds to my concern about the overall Democrat ideological message. Bernie Sanders is indirectly responsible for a failure of unity amongst his supporters when he lost to Clinton which didnt help with the overall Democrat objective of winning the election , yes he told his supporters to support her but there was too much vitriol and mistrust so some of his supporters refused to endorse her .....Im not sure if that has ever happened before. Normally people align behind the political party and not the person as the overall political aspirations should matter more than the person because the personality is the party surly ? Anyway he wont be much of an problem for Trump considering what Trump seems to focus on around his base and what he feels matters to him ...like the wall -

I think he has lost it, considering that last time he worked on CBS show was 1993 (Alex Haley's Queen), when he was 11. I agree with Elerond, his behavior has been appalling and he must face the full might of the law Its also worse that he is a African American and he used historical and real racism and homophobia to gain sympathy .....and he seems to be denying it !!! What is important from this whole stratagem is that we dont make the mistake of assuming normal examples of bigotry are now less real or not true because of this deception -
You have made a very relevant observation and you correct, I forgot that the ceremony of " high tea " is a British tradition but certain countries that would have certain ties to the UK have inherited this ceremony and it is offered normally in exclusive hotels, not restaurants normally because the ceremony takes most of the afternoon and can dominant the seating arrangement ...but it wont be common in the USA probably due to how the USA gained its independence and I imagine these types of UK culture ties wouldn't have survived But its a great eating experience of endless cakes, pastries and other creations that the chefs create uniquely for the high-tea. And the bonus is generally all the cakes are brought on tea trolleys to each table so you just sit and wait. The secret to truly appreciating it is to pace yourself and not eat too much from each trolley....you could literally eat your full on the first trolley but then you deny yourself all the other cake trolleys that continue to bring delicious delicacies the whole afternoon Saying all that its almost impossible to not over eat, I tend to be greedy and cant resist " eating just one more " which always means I leave feeling very bloated but fulfilled...oh yes so fulfilled
