What you've done today - There will be no dawn for Men
BruceVC replied to Gorth's topic in Way Off-Topic
I am having such a good time seeing mom and stepdad again after 18 months, my mom also contracted the virus 2 months ago and due to her age, 74, and poor health and the fact she has suffered from asthma her whole life I assumed she was going to die Yet she survived, she did have her first jab so that must have helped. So its been extra important to spend time with them. Next weekend I am going to stay with friends of theirs they met in the bush in a timeshare that they get access to for 3 weeks\year. Now this friend of theirs eats and cooks offcuts of meat like sheeps head, heart, liver and tripe and all other cuts of meats. I love eating offcuts but I dont often get to eat them so I am excited to see what he cooks....and its the whole weekend so it should be filled with delicious and unusual food -
Yes but you have got to know me ....dont worry about past friends, now you have someone who even wants to come eat Portuguese food at your house. That interest in culture is real and matters. You know the SJ narrative, a person should always respect other peoples culture

Thanks for letting us know about volo, I am going to create a Codex account and say hi to him I have been tempted to create a Codex account and now its an additional reason

Zora its okay to admit the truth, no one is going to think less of NZ for admitting the truth about the widespread lockdown fatigue your country is definitely going through ......you can ask anyone on this forum and we have all been through it All I can ask is please dont become angry and lash out on the members of the forum because its not our fault your PM has failed in such a spectacular fashion. I am sorry she has not been removed from office and I can imagine what you thinking....yes its a case of gender equality abuse, you are right that a man would have been removed by now Here is something that will cheer you up, you guys produce one of the best mature, cheddars I have ever eaten but I cant get it in Cpt anymore. It superlative and demonstrates your countries diary skills https://www.anchorfoodprofessionals.com/nz/en/products/cheese/block-cheese/mainland-epicure-cheddar-cheese.html#:~:text=Mainland Epicure Cheddar Cheese | Anchor Food Professionals, characterised by small white crystals that form naturally. Here is the full catalogue of cheeses available.....I didnt know this company had such variety https://www.anchorfoodprofessionals.com/nz/en/products/cheese.html

Question: What makes adventure games fun?
BruceVC replied to melkathi's topic in Computer and Console
Great post, very interesting choices you made with games. I remembered you said that you learnt English, or it helped you, to read the book that helped with that puzzle. Its a classic example of a book directly assisting with an old game .....you must have been excited when you solved it -
That is so random and hilarious, how did you think of it

You make some good points and they could be the reasons for the failures of various countries to stop the virus spread? But are they really the relevant reasons, for example in the US lets say their was some confusion in the beginning around mask wearing. But this was changed within a few months. And yes vaccines had their concerns but nowadays its irrefutable outcomes that tell us 99% of people hospitalized are unvaccinated so their should be no questioning of the efficacy of vaccines When you say " government didnt look people in the eye " ....what do you mean by that because since Bidens presidency he constantly makes these speeches that are honest but not always inspirational but he is honest. Trump did not create any confidence in the ability to deal with the virus ...in fact he contributed towards the disastrous outcomes Yes the origin is not a factor that should be a big deal, its got nothing to do with how countries have mishandled the spread. Its funny how this has become a point of interest ?

Question: What makes adventure games fun?
BruceVC replied to melkathi's topic in Computer and Console
I started my fantastic and exciting gaming career with Adventure games back in 1990 where I experienced first time Kings Quest 1 ....I was absolutely blown away by the concepts and design. I played the game on an EGA 16 bit PC and it was just brilliant with how you had to type certain questions to get results I like Adventure games because they allow me to explore a world that is about problem solving as opposed to normal RPG mechanics -
I agree that in this time of pandemic people in positions of influence should be expected to not spread misinformation about the virus and vaccines But with the general misinformation in the US, 28% of citizens, I dont think you would change anyone opinion when you suggest what Valentine was saying. He becomes part of the echo chamber that doesnt really change its views

This is quite a serious story for Oz, who are these people protesting and I assume they represent groups like anti-vaxxers or those " we tired of lockdowns and suffering from lockdown fatigue " so they take to the streets and generally ignore virus protocols....and end up spreading the virus and variants and ironically they create more lockdowns Your security forces need to jail people....fines wont be the right incentive. 6 months-12 months and once people see other people being jailed this intransigence and violence will end. Thats the solution you guys need to support, it may sound draconian but it creates a new line in the sand of consequence and you dont need to jail many people to see results ...maybe 20 maximum because it gets covered heavily in the press so the message gets sent And do you know how you justify it ? When anyone has had a loved one die from the virus or works in hospitals and seen the dying and the ventilated you will want and demand consequence for those they either willfully or ignorantly spread the virus

GD .....where have you been living? This is the new SJ, liberal way of opening the Watermelon....no ones feelings get hurt, we revise history and we recognizing Colonialism and white, male privilege. Everyone knows this....you dont EVER open the watermelon the old way, that is too effective and creates less theater

I am seriously jealous....their are very things better in the world of gastronomy than an inclusive restaurant price and you had choice which isnt always an option That is my best way to eat meals I normally wouldnt pay for ( I dont mind one of my siblings paying for me )because they too expensive like crayfish or lobster How many restaurants were their and what were the food styles? Was their Mexican, Japanese, US Steakhouses etc.
-
Yes your reaction is not uncommon because all Carpaccio is the meat in its raw form and for me the meat always tastes better cooked....thats why I will only order capaccio as a starter maybe 1/10 times I eat at restaurants that serve it The reason its served I imagine is for people to sample the meat in its pure form....in small doses on some quality bread but its still not that great for me But well done for trying something different in Mexico. Many people I know, like most of my family, wont deviate from a standard ordering of the same food with nothing new generally And of course I respect someone's food choice in a restaurant....they paying for it and eating it after all But if you experiment and create a system that says " every 4tn restaurant I go to I will order something new " you will find more good experiences than bad...and yes their will be some but for me that was honestly 10 % of all restaurants I did this in

Exactly the same version as me -
But on a serious note, legal and regulated fishing is obviously a critical part of supplying all our countries with fresh fish ....and I would argue fish is an almost critical part of our diets? It doesnt matter if its for restaurants, families or wide spread selling its very good for us and really promotes a healthy\healthier lifestyle So fishermen do matter
-
True...you authors are too clever....you keep outfoxing me
-
LadyC why do you hate fish? What have they really done to any of us ....fishing is the greatest respect you can pay to any fish. All fishermen know that

Good post and some accurate historical observations. But we must be careful to not unintentionally create the wrong impression about the value of qualified specialists during this virus like Epidemiologists and Virologists Because it happened now in SA with the reaction to those comments from that heart doctor I mentioned who basically fed and unintentionally supported anti-vaxxers and " deep state " conspiracy theorists ( yes we have this in SA as well its just framed differently ). People were saying " now you cant even trust Doctors and experts ....I knew this virus was a hoax, here is the proof" We not saying that Science is wrong or should be suddenly ignored because its been wrong in the past. Science as you mentioned evolves and is updated but certain things are irrefutable like the overall benefits of vaccines So trust me some people will take your views on the reality of the failures of science and use that to justify continued misinformation about the virus and vaccines ....its disappointing but they will, whats that big SJ word " conformational bias " and all that

Oh something else about Ostrich, you can and do it eat raw unlike chicken. For example I have eaten Ostrich Carpaccio and then another benefit you get Ostrich mince, this you cook, which you can substitute for beef mince in meals like Bolognaise Also I confirmed you do get Ostrich in the US, its not common but you can order it. You even get Ostrich farms in Texas and one or 2 other states, I didnt know this but this farm was visited on the Food Network Channel https://www.superiorostrich.com/ The reason I am still mentioning this because I am interested in what you think once you have tasted Ostrich, its always good to understand the appetites and views of markets that have spending power like the US. Which in this particular sector translates to citizens like you and the question "would you eat and therefore pay for Ostrich " So why dont you order some Ostrich from this farm or just see if you can find it in any local butcher which will be cheaper I imagine ?

At last, congrats Now I can come for that barbeque you have been promising me., Because its not that I am an unreasonable guest but when we drinking and celebrating at your place you know sometimes you need to "get something suddenly " ...like Tequila and because you didnt have a car I didnt want to put unfair pressure on you. But now that you have transport again that shouldnt be an issue ....oh and I drink Vodka along with Brandy as my prefered alcoholic choices so again we have that in common. I dont know about you but I cant wait -
Also you dont need to be a scientist to create accurate studies or gather meaningful statistics, you just need to do it properly and present your research data for review for those interested Their are many people who create pertinent dissertations who could be students doing their masters or professors .....but they not scientists

That is worrying and should be very frustrating for you because a couple of weeks ago you could make fair and reasonable comparisons to states that had utterly failed to do much about the virus or had ignored basic preventative measures like mask wearing, this included Florida and Texas. Of course your numbers are still tiny compared to those states But what concerns me is how did this happen in a state that has generally following the correct virus advice and measures? Your one link discusses this, its the Delta variant and appears to be mostly younger people in their 20's and 30' who are now creating the hospitalization numbers Thats a huge problem because I was under the impression that this age group in states like yours had taken the vaccine but it appears not....do you have any idea why when the message from your governor has been consistent and science based and your state is Democrat and generally liberal which unfortunately matters because in the US politics has influenced peoples acceptance of the virus ? But in summary, the unvaccinated will spread the virus and spread variants. This has been seen globally. Sadly the current reality in the US is just another example of why I keep saying we need laws in all our countries to make vaccines mandatory because if not far too many citizens simply refuse to accept the reality of the virus and variants can and do spread And you obviously ignore views from people like 2133 who suggest kids dont need to wear masks at schools
