  1. If I may post a piece of doggerel, which I think is more descriptive:

I know my desire. It is dry like the thorn tree and hot like the sun. ...You are the armour of the cobra as she waits beside the path. You are the long slow swell of the sea. My lips are adrift on you.

I have no idea what that means.

I think maturity is treating any subject or person as no more than what they is/are.(so handling sex maturely(word?) is to treat it as no more than what it is.) Hmm, so interpreting sex maturely would be to talk about it without like any other hobby or activity, although it is something I would only discuss with close friends(because I know that they will treat it in the same manner I do.)

I don't know what lie Walsingham is talking about, could you be more specific? Sex can either be used for pleasure, children, or as a commodity(something to be bought, sold, given or taken as a means to an end based on how others-)

  2. I should have waited before bitching about the skill merging, it looks like you will still be somewhat able to pick which types of weapons to specialise in.

I do not like my own skills(Except for my intelligence/Perception) to affect the skills of the character I play. From what I understand combat in real-time is affected by the bullet spread of the weapon modified by the weapon skill relevant to that weapon. If the purpose of V.A.T.S. is for it to be used by people who suck at first person shooters(determined by Stats) and realtime for people that are good at first person shooters(determined by personal skill) then I think the way these skills are going to be handled in New Vegas will work; As long as there are some limitations as to how "good" one is allowed to be in real time.

(It would be entertaining for the game to tell a high intelligence character which dialogue options are most like to do what, there was a perk in Fallout 2 that did something similar to this,)

Rate of fire = Attack frequency.

  3. Early access to energy weapons*

In the article it has some dude talking about how they would give you an instruction manual on how to to build the weapon in which the instructions were purposely given in the incorrect order, so that if you tried to follow it you would blow yourself up.

I do not think it matter how much experience I get depending on the difficulty level since I can just grind for EXP, a good way to get around this is to make powerfull weapons harder to use, or to have some algorithm which decreases EXP given depending on how much you've killed a particular enemy.

I was also wondering how meelee characters play in fallout(I do not have access to the games now) but I never picked that type of character because trying to approach an enemy with a gun would be pretty suicidal(A high AP char who can get up close to the enemy before he can react?) Huh, speaking of that, being able to run at someone durring V.A.T.S. would work. In RTC being able to roll in concert with your enemies attacks be the (=).

  4. I do not like the fact that small guns and big guns have been merged, I think it would be pretty easy(weapon distribution) to give the players a choice between ready available, cheap, weak, easy to use guns and scarce, expensive, speciallised weapons. I think the two skills should be Conventional and exotic weapons, along with energy weapons(which is something I think should be called something else essencially how much you know about plasma, electricity, ect. It would be like awareness: in addition to in improving how well you wield a weapon it would allow you notice and mention odd and strange things.(the higher this skill is, the faster one would get the Ion Cannon for example)

I think energy weapons could be usefull early as long as you get access to laser pistols/rifles in addition to standard weapons.

It would be cool be able to see a nuclear cannon () I do not know if this is mentioned in the current version of the article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Upshot-Knothole_Grable because of a site update.

  5. -Oh crap! Please let me leave notes on the world map or something, would be nice specially if you take an extended break from playing.

I forgot about the long hair; Final Fantasy 10(PS2) had long hair, so it could work.

    (Moving Strands of hair)

(Long, somewhat static Hair) both within the first 20 seconds.

Skirts would probably be alot harder, plus it would not make in sense in the game.(unless you found a town where everyone was trying to pretend it was the 1950's) Or since apparently New Vegas is mostly untouched It would make sense.

  6. Screenshot please;

I also thought of more improvements

-Special attacks can be used outside of V.A.T.S.

-Merchants/caravans will tell you to bugger off if you spend too much time following them around, I remenber that you could simply follow all the merchants around until they died and then loot them.

-Have meaningful achievements/trophies for stuff like beating the game on very hard, having neutral karma throught the whole game, ect(I can't think of anymore.) If not having the the ability to turn these off would be nice since you can't disable the notification on the PS3.

Also, Mr. Sawyer, will you guys poke fun at Bethesda by mentioning that you can purify irradiated water by running it through dirt/sand?(I think)

Also, Have you ever played KIller 7? what do you think of this type of approach to storytelling in videogames?

-Walsingham have you read the psychology of security by Bruce Schneier?

  7. Maybe there is alot of a food that heals you rather well but needs to be cooked, or poisoned food, maybe it could also be used for crafting new weapons(if that has been confirmed) like neededing to "cook" that radscorpion tail in order to use it in the dart gun.

  8. Huh. since it seems like we've been socialy(word?) engineered, heres some defence: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2160824376898701015 if you don't want to click or think I'm doing a repeat its essentially about how one can exploit the trust inherent in society to get what they want.

Anyway, I own that controller, you can add a driver to use it on your PC, don't know if the pedals could be used for a racing game though.

I'm dissapointed that the rank after Nub isn't Wee Nub.

  9. That reminds me of of an interview one of the New Vegas Developers had with a french magazine where he kept talking about sex when they asked him a question about sex and violence in videogames; I hope he will find this from the same magazine helpfull in an interview someday:

"...The humas breast was designed by God for only one purpose: to feed a human infant. So, by design, God intended every living human being to know exactly what a breast looks, feels, smells, and tastes like. To be offended at the site of a woman's breasts goes against the will of God , and is therefore blasphemous.

Furthermore, to be ashamed of the human breast is to be ashamed of one's own mother and what she sacrificed for the well being of her child.

this is a transgression of God's fifth commandment: "thou shalt honor thy father and mother."

Be not ashemed of the breast for it is the fountain of life, which nourishes the human race.

    Sincerely,

    MeLIkesTheBoobies."

  10. oh man, can you imagine the fallout 3 fan reaction to the return of critical failures on attacks....

    it would be awesome.

"what do you MEAN i just lost all my ammo.... how the hell does that even happen!!!1!!"

"how did i just HIT MYSELF with my sledgehammer?!?!?"

i love critical failures/misses etc, but imo they really only belong in turn based games. so if fallout is ever allowed a proper sequel then im sure critical misses would return

That reminds me of something I read on a preview of Bloodlines, it went something like "At the table with dice, if you roll all ones for a rifle attack, nobody says the game is broken-you rolled the dice and blew it, the gun blows up in your face, everybody laughs at you, and thats the end of that....You try to pull that off in the computer and people are like... It's broken!"

    (PS3 Limit Again)

  11. Sorry, I'm typing this on a PS3 and theres a limit as to how much I can have on the screen at the time: in any case, here's the last one.

-Some skills affect how effectively you can use a certain weapons, for example at a lower weapons skill a knife would be much more effective to use than a sledgehammer, even if you find the sledgehammer first, or a pistol versus a revolver or a flamethrower, I think it would be funny if you ended up breaking your own knee or falling over due to weight of the sledgehammer, or breaking your wrist or the gun flying off your hand because you did not know how to fire a revolver properly, also slower reload times, recoil, repair ability ect.

Um, is there a technical term for when your dude switches weapons? the lower your skill the longer it takes(I'd be cool if your crosshair dissapeared if you tried to use a plasma rifle at 20 energy weapons or something,) Being able to cook grenades would be nice too.

  12. Hi, I read that I should post suggestions for Fallout: New Vegas here; So I will.(Sorry if I am posting stuff that has been revealed to be in the game, I deliberately try to avoid new information about the game because I know I am getting it.)

    -Traits

-see the details of an item

-An option which will make attacks/reloading in real time combat consume AP, V.A.T.S. feels like a special power to me since you can use it and be able to attack normally

-Ability to melee with guns(or a melee button which switches you to a melee weapon)The ability to be able to have throwing weapons would be nice(throw a knife, spear, retrieve it, nail some dude to a wall) Akimbo pistols would be nice too

    -Characters with long hair

-fall damage ability to trip/push someone with a high unarmed/stealth skill.

    -Go prone.

-Crossbow/bow and arrow, being able to attach dynamite to the bow/bolt would be cool.

  13. Mostly the same characters, story throughout all three games; Reading that really long post about cutscene reminded me of how the first game was mentioned in the game media for giving you the ability to save during the middle of one of those really long cutscenes.

    Again I recommend Xenogears.

  14. Has someone made a forum topic or created an article somewhere that lists suggestions for this game? If not I would like to make one.

Also, is the there anything fans of this game can do to give Obsidian extra development time; I don't really like it when I find out that a game has had lost content or features because of time.

  15. I played a bit of the first one but I can not recomend it, it is not explained what attacks/skills do what, which is fine for the attacks if you want to take time to figure them out, but its harder for skills since you get items which increase your skills and if you do not use them by the late game you will be in trouble.

If I remenber correctly the games were kind of rushed because they did not sell well.

I can recommend Xenogears for the Playstation, it is part of the same series and shares some of the plot elements.

    I like the name "nub"
