  1. It's funny how you all seem to think downloading an album or a movie is the same as stealing it. It's not. Technology has moved forward and it's about the same kind of a leap as back when betamax / video cassettes / c-cassettes were introduced. The music and movie industries are trying to hung onto their old, very lucrative business model that's simply not working with the current tech we have. There's no turning back the time, either.

So, because it is easy to steal and the probability of getting caught low, you think it is Ok?

Parasites with self entitlement issues is the reason legislation like this even comes up in the first instance.

When you go to the hair dresser and get a haircut, do you decide when leaving that his time and effort wasn't worth your money and then leave without paying? Probably not, because it is easier to get caught. The mentality is the same though. Why should *I* have to pay if I can weasel my way out of it. I can always try to make up feeble, pathetic excuses afterwards, like nobody gets hurt and everybody else are stealing, so it can't really be wrong, can it? It must be the victims fault, because I am not really a bad person normally. Grow up.

Bottom line, there is nothing essential you need to survive on the internet. There is only explanations for piracy, no excuses.

Um, I'm stupid but, there are bad people that violate the law to do what they want, both with and without power.

I do not like these type of laws because most people don't know how the internet works and think it works like a physical location,(which is why most do not complain about paying the same price for a digital copy as a boxed copy.)

The reason that qoute is above is because it is easy to notice bad stuff outside of a computer monitor(stealing/piracy these are different because like knowledge you can take it and still have it, also you need less copies sold of something online versus at a store because you only spend money on bandwidth,1 gig of bandwidth costs the same to a piracy site as it does to this one so ISP's make money either way, It is worth noting that one can shut down a site now by threatening an ISP with copyright law.)

Its easier to tell that a store was vandalized or shut down in the physical world but hard to tell that 100 websites have been taken offline. So I don't like this because its really easy for people in control to do bad stuff in the name of the law.

Also isn't some dude at Gamespot buying a used game worse than a pirate because the pirate still has money?

  2. I think that Instinct is a set a of things we subconsiusly know that tells what what we should do(Or assuming free will exists, gives us a choice of what to do) If thats true, then conciousness(thought) is the process by which we make those decisions. However since there is enough time in the day in which we are not sleeping or spending time doing things that keep us alive, we have time to do things like this.(talk about things that don't really matter at all) Intelligence/intellect could be simply using the knowledge you already have to fill that time(We also have the ability to think or do things without having to come up with them ourselves or do things without thinking)

  3. Not sure how that could translate into a non-turn based game.
Theoretically, it can be translated into shooters as long as they have system which track hits on each body part but making various animations must be demanding...

Most recent shooters have this but firefights do not last enough for it to matter.

Yeah, I'd forgotten about that, that did make groin shots useful.

Not sure how that could translate into a non-turn based game.

In Metal Gear a groin shot equals a one hit kill, it is still easier to always aim for the head since because it is always available.

The only games I've ever played in which aiming for the limbs is viable is Mechwarrior, the health of most enemies is pretty high and the body has much more health than the limbs.

  4. DS, I love my PSP but unless you really like the games on it, its worthless, The DS has many, many games, chances are you will find some you like, I recommend the DS Lite because it is cheap and features of the newer version are not being taken advantage of. If you want the best of both worlds I suggest waiting for a 3DS, its practically a new console with backwards compatibility for DS titles(no Gameboy cardtridge slot)Nintendo is remaking some N64 games for it(Starfox, Ocarina of Time) and companies have announced remakes of next generation games. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nintendo_3DS_games

Its only missing a phone; I already have a DS lite, a next gen console and an N64 so I don't find it very usefull.

  5. Hopefully the changes to combat in New Vegas will make aiming for the limbs more effective but I'll be honest... I doubt it.

There is a good chance of limb shots being usefull; Since there are two military sides fighting in a less damaged area, chances are that they will wear some sort of head armor; Most soldiers tend to only wear a helmet and body armor, allowing for the choice of quickly disabling your enemy or slowly killing them.

On a related note, modifying VATS in a way that doesn't make it extremely powerfull will probably result in poor reviews because it looks like we are the only ones that take issue with it; Unless Obsidian

-Makes the default difficulty easy enough to allow VATS to be god mode. (I'm still surprised that VATS=90% damage resistance)

-Makes VATS a true alternative to real-time combat

Unless things like moving, switching weapons and looking at my inventory use AP I won't be using VATS.

  6. Um, because of the nature of software, Steam being the only option is an issue(as in if you get in first it is very hard for competion to exist because the more people who buy your product the more valuable it becomes(like a cellphone, if only you had one it would be useless, this is something that only applies to things like these)This does not apply to other things, like cars, houses, books, beer, ect)This is the only reason why Microsoft and its products are still alive(it is why the Xbox 360 was released a year in advance of its competion) Other examples include Facebook, WOW, Itunes, and Google.

  7. That's not really a learn by doing system though. That's exactly the same as saying "gain xp to level up, levels give you ability points, spend them on whatever you like".

I disagree with this completely, it sounds the same but if mixed with the DS2 "only XP per active attack" rule then you have something that basically equals Hours played=EXP(I guess you'd still need levels to tell where you are though, but it would be awesome if the exp gained automatically went into whatever it is your trying to improve. So lets say you bow attacks do 1 damage and need to do 100 of them for them to become 2 damage, under this rule each time you attack you attack your damage increases by .01. So if you've attacked 50 times then you would be doing 1.50 damage instead of 1 damage) plus it allows you to get around the needing to grind to get skills you want problem; Also, it looks like this system helps make Dungeon Siege, Dungeon Siege.

  8. Like it will like it will be as unique as Alpha Protocol. I want to put some pressure on you by saying that I will be buying this game solely on Mr. Feagus' comment about Dungen Siege's difficulty actually changing the layout of the enemies instead of simply adding more hitpoints.

I like this a lot because most videogames require you to learn one strategy and master it(with a harder difficulty giving you less changes to screw up, and an easier difficulty not requiring you to know the strategy) I prefer games that either are "easy to learn but hard to master" By the way of having intuitive game mechanics.

Like you can Beat BCR using mostly what you learned in challenge room 1, but you can beat it like you beat challenge room 56(

) I suggest turning off the annotations.

    Or twice as fast (

) or games are dynamic enough that you can beat them different ways. (For example you can beat Halo in Legendary with only one gun.)
  9. Continuing with that, I hope Obsidian's business model is "make sequels like DS3 to support games like Alpha Protocol"

Er, chances are that if DS3 sells well Obsidian could probably ask for the money to make a tool set since the previous games had it.

I'd rather we have our sequels stand on their own  Not to say that working on original IP isn't fun, but there's no reason a sequel can't be a great game on its own.

    Worstusernamesever's assumption is correct.

I agree with you; the only Obsidian game I've played is Knights of the Old Republic: the Sith Lords but it looks like all of Obsidian's games besides Alpha Protocol have been slight improvements of the previous games(Although I guess this is all you can do considering the nature in which those games have been made) From what you've spoken about Dungeon Siege 3 it looks

  10. I'm hoping that they at least changed the 90% damage reduction during vats if not removed it altogether

Is this true? How did Bethesda get away with this? Doesn't that fact alone make the game completely broken? Holy ****...
