Anybody else experiencing a sort of memory leak where the game will just come to a crawl and have to be restarted?
-
Save then do it, if only just to see it.

BTW, I just It was a beautiful sight.

Oh, come now. That was a nice bit of brevity

You know, that's exactly the wrong attitude. It shouldn't be controversial because, you know, it's a game. It's not real. It's no different from killing children in your mind, and far less worrisome. Catering and bowing down to the absurd sensibilities of idiots who can't tell the difference between fiction and reality puts one at the same level of those idiots. And, for many people, controversy is just another hobby. And then there's the silly double standards you mention, and the fact that seems to have escaped Todd & Co, that nuking a town will result in the deaths of the children therein. Oh wait, it won't - they have godmode! But the saddest part is that we are actually going backwards. You had functional hookers (fade to black, at least), child killing and other naughty things in both FO1&2... but stuff got toned down for 3, so the folks with the short tempers and zero tolerance don't get too angry. I'm not saying you shouldn't *be able to* kill children in the game, but with what's already in the game, it seems like an entirely ridiculous complaint.

I think Bethesda made a mistake in two areas. 1. increase the amount of XP you get while playing on the hard difficulty setting. I'm at level 10 already and haven't started the main quest yet. 2. Level 20 exp cap. Maybe this wouldn't be a problem after 1 is fixed, but you hit the cap halfway through the plot or sooner.

Could you imagine the hysteria if there was nakedness in a game where you can decapitate people on numerous occasions, tear off limbs, turn them into slag as you hear their final cry of pain, and is loaded with "foul" language? Not to mention the rampant drug use and potential promotion of slavery.

Never before have I enjoyed gore in a game. Yet, there's just something about sneaking behind a master super mutant, crit hitting them in the head, and getting a slow mo image of it exploding and ripping off their neck. My problem with the gore is that nothing really happens to the torso. No huge chunk taken out of it when crit'd with a point blank shotgun blast. Not like in FO1&2. Limbs and headshots are straight, though

I love that feature! If you keep your weapon repaired it will never have the jamming, but if you let the condition fall to about 25% or less it will start jamming during a reload and you will have to mess with it after every reload. First time I experienced these 'extended reloads' I didn't understand why my character kept pulling out a clip he had just put in or messing with the gun after every reload. Eventually noticed it only happened when I was using a gun in poor condition. No crap? That's why it does that? Talk about one of those little things that add to the overall game. When I would empty a clip into a mutie and the duck behind a sand barrier, only to have my character "fumble" with reloading was maddening. To find out that it's due to the condition of the weapon is pretty cool. I thought it was random. RE: Repairing. Do you HAVE to have an extra weapon of the same type to repair the one you're using? Any way to repair with parts, scrap metal, etc? Or do you have to find a replica of your weapon to repair it? How does that work for unique weapons?

1. I noticed this too. I can understand living in an old war torn dwelling for shelter, but I'd personally move the nasty skeleton out of the place before settling in. 2. I actually love gun accuracy in this game. Remember how I railed against brothers in arms for its lack of accuracy? Well, in this game you can actually see your gun sway in your hand and the bullet roughly goes where the gun is swaying unlike BiA where the gun doesn't sway in the hand and the bullets fly all across the screen. I love how you can get critical hits on a body part without going into vats and even shoot guns out of enemies hands. Can even shoot grenades just as they toss them and have them blow in the enemies face. 3. Didn't really mind the kits... at least the ones I've found so far. They've done a great job of bringing back almost every weapon from Fallout 1 with the exception of spears and throw-able rocks. I do prefer a few F1's versions of weapons. For instance, the sleek black combat shotgun has been replaced with a WWII PPsH combat shotgun (PPsH was a SMG, but someone liked the design of the weapon and made a combat shotgun version in the F3 universe I guess) and I also preferred the original tube rocket launcher to the more futuristic looking one in F3. Personally, I would loved to have seen a plethora of the 'real' guns from Fallout 2 & Tactics like the M3 Grease Gun and Tommy Gun from Reno as well as some of the numerous real world weapons from Fallout Tactics. See no reason why the 'fake' guns and the real guns couldn't coexist. It seems like Beth actually went out of its way to avoid real weapon names. The Mauser Pistol you could get from Gizmo in F1 has been renamed the 'Chinese Pistol' for instance. I've probably mentioned this before but I love some of the little touches with animation. If you get a crippled leg you will see your character limping along in 3rd person camera. Also, the reload animations are very good in third person. You can actually see your character pulling clips out and then putting a new one in then charging/****ing/priming the gun and it matches with the First Person animations. GAH! That killsl me, when you reload any weapon, and you have to "knock it" to get the new reload to "take." Realistic, though. I'm sorry, but people who say this game is not Fallout are weird. It's pretty much what I imagined a FOFPS would be like....with a few inconsistencies, of course. Such as the the game taking place 200 years after the war but people still referring to pre-war times and the existence of food, cigarettes, and ammo that lasted 200 years in the wastes. Perhaps Bethesda should have made the timeline similar to FO1, or FO2 at most. This game is just plain fun. f

There is an interesting thread on the Bethesda forums about this subject. Take a look and tell us what you think: http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=898582 It's about how, even though the war started in 2077, the worlds seemed to be stuck in the 1950's and what the reason for it is/was. Personally, I think it's just a unique setting for a game, but I like some of the views expressed in this thread. PS: Drunk posting FTW!

Amen. The quality of quests in this game is pretty good.

Here's what I just whipped up, Ark: Name: Oleg Taktarov ST - 9 PE - 2 EN - 9 CH - 2 IN - 5 AG - 9 LU - 4 Tag: Unarmed, Melee, Science Level 2: Little Leaguer Level 3: Intense Training - Endurance Level 4: Iron Fist Level 5: Intense Training - Strength Level 6: Toughness Level 7: Bloody Mess (or Lead Belly) Level 8: Strong Back Level 9: Rad Resistance Level 10: Nerd Rage (or Mysterious Stranger) Level 11: Finesse Level 12: Life Giver Level 13: Fast Metabolism Level 14: Adamantium Skeleton Level 15: Cyborg Level 16: Better Criticals Level 17: Action Boy Level 18: Paralyzing Palm Level 19: Infiltrator Level 20: Ninja How did that work out? And Bloody Mess? Did you just take it for the extra 5% damage or just for kicks? What is the quickest way to get a supersledge? Oh, and where can you get power armor training? (feel free to use spoil tags)

Wazer Wifle? Is that a unique weapon? My favorite weapon is the android's Plasma Rifle. Is it the only Plasma rifle in the game? I know some robots use plasma rifle ammo, but no plasma rifles. Only laser. And dammit, I just reached level 20 and picked the explorer perk. I shouldn't have done that. Now I can see the dozens of places I never came anywhere close to, yet. Sweet jesus! This is the kind of game, though, that on the second run through, you'll forget so much and where everything is because of the huge amounts of time that go by. I'm considering starting over with my melee character. Does anybody here have any experience with one? Too bad you can't target melee weapons I'd love to tee off on some mutie heads.

MKREKU! How are you finding all of this stuff? Are you literally combing the wastes? I haven't found nearly as many cool things as you have, but I've been playing for over 3 days now! I "ran into" my first Behemoth. He was caged and "helped" me clear a den of raiders. Too bad I had to put the big guy down afterward. Absolutely no gratitude for his freedom. It was an EPIC battle, though.

Fallout 3 is great. I spent about 3 days straight playing it an I want MOAR!! My next character is going to be a melee character (super sledge, here I come!!) With an affinity for demolitions. Grenades and mines are so much fun in this game.

Things I haven't seen yet and I'm level 18: 1. Deathclaws 2. BoS that I can join to get power armor 3. Super Mutant Behemoth 4. Dogmeat RE: Deathclaws and Supermutants. What's the explanation of how supermutants got to the east coast, anyway? They were all over California because of the vats and such. Same with Deathclaws. I thought they were a west coast product, but maybe they are...I haven't come across any yet!

Might not be the best weapon for ALL situations in the game, but it's my primary weapon that I always have readied. I hadn't put any points into energy weapons before I got it, but once I did, I dumped a few levels worth there and now I'm literally making glowing slag out of my enemies. For some reason, though, it's SO much more effective in VATS. The 'bullets' seem to go right through baddies some times when your freestyling it. My weapon stash includes: combat shotgun, sniper rifle, hunting rifle, Sydney's Ultra 10mm SMG (kicks ass...sucks that she got her head literally smashed by a supersledge-wielding super mutant...that was quite a sight), Chinese assault rifle, plasma rifle, and some unique flame thrower that I had to go through irradiated hell to get. Overkill? Oh, and MINES and GRENADES are actually useful in FO3. leave a trail of mines, draw their attention and let the 'splodin' begin. I literally survived like this during the early levels.

How did you import OG Fallout music?

I just got the schematic for the railway gun! I'm working on finding the components!

I'm almost at level 14 and I haven't found any other vaults, either. Of course, I haven't been doing the main quest that much. While doing the quest for to find the I got the locations of a whole bunch of vaults from the . I still only have the one. Is this lady in Megaton? I thought I talked to everybody, but I'm sure I missed a few people. One of the bobble heads (luck) I found in the same house as the Lincoln shrine in Arlington National Cemetery.
-
Oh, and I haven't run into any Death Claws yet, but I have run into centaurs No Wanamingos, though
-
I'm found Vault 106 at level 2. It's right by 101. NSEW? Gotta stop playing and go to sleep. I'm addicted to this game and Med-X

I'm almost at level 14 and I haven't found any other vaults, either. Of course, I haven't been doing the main quest that much. I've found some interesting things, too. Such as a shrine to Abraham Lincoln in the basement of a house in Arlington....not sure if it's anything special, but it was...interesting. I've also found a luck and a melee bobblehead. :D
