So the study proves that the movies that are bound to make money lose money from piracy and the flops that nobody wanted to see nobody wanted to pirate. So piracy is bad I guess, but movies are doing fine and really that money was just going to end up on the hands of a producer. So what's the deal?

That's a bad take. For one thing, most Americans care far more about sports than healthcare. If anything, we react more from out of apathy when they take away our entertainment. The path to virtue is fraught with hardship and to save humankind you have to make yourself a pariah and a sinner. Better to be apathetic and think that is all beyond your power; someone else will take care of it. I have Casablanca on Blu-ray and it is an astounding feat of restoration. The lighting, hd sharpness and sound quality makes it nearly an essential purchase for anybody that considers themselves a film fan, to see what could be produced visually as far back as 1942 that can go toe to toe with anything filmed today on modern equipment. Even if the subject matter doesn't appeal, it is a visual feast Quite frankly my dears, I do not give a damn. Ah, but political correctness is biting on that one. Gone With the Wind has been taken down from some cinemas in the south of the US due to reasons. Such is the case with revisionist history. What do you use as that measure of happiness? Most of the developed world has run down and industrial areas that rival the worst of China. If it's such a miserable place were people are poor then how come is one of the biggest markets for movie and games, with companies going so far as to censor themselves to appeal to the Chinese standards.

I don't claim to have an extensive knowledge of economics, but after reading up on the subject from an alternative point of view I can safely opine that the notion is ridiculous. Specially when these interventions serve the interests of the global banking elite and not the one's of nations. America benefits naught from interventionism and loses a lot.
