  1. Yeah, my interview for the Bar this week consisted mostly of the interviewer wanting to make sure I know how lucky I am...
  2. I was gonna post about how awesome my new job is... but instead, I'll just say that if the witch who ran the last joint had never let me go, I would never have wound up in what people tell me is the best law firm in the country. Sometimes you have to lose pretty much everything before you take the next step (I had to move back in with my mother, ffs)
  3. God hates the Chargers, Saints are playing guys who've been working as real estate agents due to the epic injury deluge, ffs.
  4. This is a good story, I like the way you think Grats and since I became active in 2012 its probably fair to say you have found these forums even more fulfilling and meaningful right ?
  5. New Orleans at San Diego... I suspect some type of Biblical Calamity will somehow prevent either team from winning.
  6. When has a deus ex protagonist reacted to something you read in an email? Flatlander Woman, maybe, but that's all I can think of...
  7. Hmm? I did mostly takedowns from cover and can't remember seeing that one? But it's funny, now that the animations are contextual, depensing on your playstyle, you are going to see fewer of them even though there are apparently more of them than in HR.
  8. While I'm afraid doing my doctorate at 31 might have sidelined my career for quite a while, if not permanently, I find comfort in the fact that I have very little reason to study for a degree ever again... Maybe an MBA, though! Sigh, I wish I had rooms, instead of being essentially homeless (see above). I'd love to have the remote control lighting for security purposes.
  9. Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law?
  10. Saints appear to be punting on the season after releasing Spiller. I wouldn't be surprised if they release Byrd next to get as much dead money as possible into this years cap, then extend Vaccaro and Breaux with what's left and start looking at next offseason...
  11. Where are you? There's a second chance in the last area, before the Choice... Edit: next time, I'll look at the date.
  12. ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff
  13. Yep! You even have two chances if picking it up, apparently. There's so much missable content in this game I'm afraid it's never going to get the praise it deserves due to its shortcomings being a lot more obvious.
  14. I remain unconvinced of the issues you bring up with tye takedowns due to the simple fact that the energy cost is IMO generally too much vs. Using a stun gun on tranq rifle. Worth it when you do it from cover and pull them in there. Same. For instance, I constantly seemed to run out of biocells my fist time through. This time, I've got 25 in my inventory and haven't had an issue replenishing them. Yeah, Biocells were what I was mostly thinking of, too. I didn't use a single grenade in my first playthrogh, either...
  15. Oh, and actually on-topic. Now doing the second run of dxmd, as I have a better idea of what consumables to use or save etc. Enjoying it more, as my initial playthrough was bifurcated by the alps...
  16. In Deus Ex I remember that you could throw laser triggered bombs onto walls and jump on top of them giving you a tiny perch from which you could throw another and recover the lower one and so on bypassing the tiles that were blocked, then jumping straight onto the exit tiles bypassing the first city hub and possibly breaking the game. It's not really advisable and a difficult feat as well but you have to try it at least once. We were kinda missing the introduction of the bad guys that will graduate into boss fights this time around. The big bald guy with the three eyes didn't do it for me. In the first game they start out as your allies, then you have to either escape or kill them, and what's good about it is that there are options for both. In Deus Ex city hubs were not much larger than the mission maps, but there were a LOT of mission maps and they were well made. I find i prefered it this way. I got tired of Prauge eventually, and yes, it didn't really feel like you accompilised anything at the end other than reacting to what was put in front of you. Best gameplay experience ? I dunno, it's certainly good but for sheer gameplay the takedown is still a 'win button' mechanic and a cop out. Bring back melee attacks and melee weapons. Between that and the consolficiation of certain features I guess a lot of people would call it the second best Deus Ex game and I would tend to agree. Those that are old enough to remember the first game anyway. Is the suggestion here that I am not old enough to remember the original? Trust me, I am. It also used to be the game I had the most completions in before Mass Effect 2. Anyway, I'm not sure how your examples of breaking the game are examples of brilliance, tbh. Deus Ex had a lot of kludgy design elements Deus Ex had the riot prod, which was basically the same thing as the takedowns. So, while I agree with you in that the original was, at least when the evolution of the games industry is considered, the better game (in fact it's probably still my best of all time), I still believe that from the point of view of actual design vs. happy coincidences of emergent gameplay, dxmd is better.
  17. Beat deus ex MD and the extra mission. Preorder mission's more like "cut for pacing" stuff than anything that actually needed to be in the game, unlike the last time. Fun game, but the story arc does indeed advance so little that it's almost comical. That said, the mechanics and level design are absolutely brilliant, possibly the best in the series (I kid you not). Hopefully they won't take another six years for the next installment. Gonna be set in an altrnate past soon.
  18. Jensen's the best gravelly voiced protagonist based on the simple fact that it's actually his VOs voice, and not some dude trying to sound gravelly voiced...
  19. I noticed I had a 'Jensen story' somehow, pretty sure I got the regular editon. Tried playing and lost interest immediately. Anyway if it's just that type of standalone chapter, like the DLC from Human revolution, I'm not interested at all. Stop messing with my augs and my inventory every time I have to play a DLC. Take your cue from how far I am in the main story and set the difficulty from that instead. Or make a new hub area and make me care about that. No good reason to remove it from the main story at all except I think it was supposed to have been a pre order bonus. That's not really a good reason either. I think the dlc is all supposed to take place after the main game, so it's a bit more forgivable than the last time. IIRC dxhr frontloads the dialogue to the detroit hub and its pretty much gone for the second half. That said, if you refuse to use multitools, there is too much of the hacking minigame,
  20. Paging PC police to the NFL thread, paging PC policeto the NFL thread! So, how about them Saints. More transactions in the days after the cutdown to 53 than during the camp. I'm not sure what the hell they are doing, at least the eagles were clear on punting for the season.
  21. Got a new job! Pretty excited, "boutique" law office that just does dispute resolution (so it's small, but the cases are among the biggest in the country). Fits my skillset well, the partners are really nice old-fashioned gentleman type guys and my salary went up 25 % from the last place... Champagne has been enjoyed today!
  22. The DLC seems to take place after the main game. Going to be interesting to see what they do there, if they pull some of the ties together. So let me guess, the DLC is going to be the continuation of the Mystery Augs sidequest you can spend an hour or three working in the main game that never actually provides solid answers? Or do you think that's all wrapped up in Jensen actually being a Manchurian candidate set into motion to take out Janus and that's what the next game will be about? I dunno. The first one that's out apparently deals with who's the, ahem, bomber at a fairly early event in the game. Haven't looked at the others apart from the fact that the story dlc is all supposed to take place after the main game... I read the book connecting the two games (I'm in the Alps and have had a lot of down time this week), and that makes me think that you might be on the money for tye mystery augs, but off target on the manchurian candidate. Oh, it's also suggested that Janus is actually one of the Illuminati. I wonder if it's how Page takes over...
