  1. http://graphics.wsj.com/gaza-before-after/ Before & After photos of Gaza. Interesting to see the effects in terms of structural damage, at least. A more ideal solution would be for them to die horribly. But as for keeping quiet - http://www.timesofisrael.com/knesset-member-retake-gaza-put-civilians-in-tent-camps/
  2. Interesting that the killing of a soldier today was labelled as terrorism. But another truce - what are the odds it doesn't last 24 hours?
  3. Heh, I wouldn't say that is an unkown event. Seems it worked out well for everyone, Israel wasn't affected much by it, and people were encouraged to look at alternatives. Hm, wonder what would have happened if the IDF lost the '72 war
  4. Guess that Unity party is re-activated since 1999.
  5. Will have to see how much they've helped the US in that region that much in the past. Certainly seem to be more uppity towards the US of late, but I suppose they know they can get away with murder with the US. Heh, was a bit hesitant to search that as I can foresee a lot of shill results more than anything.
  6. Wonder what the US gets out of this relationship with Israel, anyway. Well, other than votes.
  7. Finally saw The Raid 2. Nice that they tried to add in some story, fight scenes were well done as expected. Good enough.
  8. Embargo probably affects that somewhat. I suppose bunkers and shelters are prohibited as Hamas can use those as well as civilians. I guess the IDF is indeed a force of nature
  9. That truce lasted long. I do find it funny that the IDF soldier has been "kidnapped" rather then just captured.
  10. Well you said Certainly implies that not bombing is equivalent to the abandonment of their own people, as it's not binary case but one of degrees that was being discussed. And the question wasn't to me - although I've pretty much hinted at the desired reaction already here. But oh well. Well to your question : yes, but mainly as it avoids civilians getting killed which is just fuel for this cycle, rather than my suspected lust to see IDF troops in body bags or something. You are also aware war isn't fought in a vacuum - reason the US didn't carpet bomb Iraq in Gulf War 2.0, it won't fly well with the political reasons for the act. Likewise, Palestinian kids being shown on TV pulled from rubble crushed to death after a bomb or artillery strike doesn't go over well. Ground troops kill less civilians unintentionally than a 500 lb bomb or a 155mm shell, it's risky but well the IDF always boasts of their courage.
  11. See, Bruce, what I mean by blue oby ? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Withdrawal_from_the_United_Nations - but at least came across something new today.
  12. Good sound bites at least, I especially like the "soft bigotry" one, referencing Bush Jr's old statement.
  13. Sounds like "art" to me.
  14. How is Israel abandoning their own civilians by not using heavy ordnance in Gaza, exactly ? They still have their vaunted IDF ground forces, after all. Given Iron Dome's apparent efficiency and Israeli civilians not piling up from other measures, am not seeing why airstrikes are required for this comparison to work - it certainly is done so they don't have more IDF coffins. Is amusing to hear other people comparing this operation to Dresden/Hamburg to make it look more humanitarian though. The talk of human shields is a bit iffy, I'd imagine there's a calculation to be made in terms of the military value of the target vs any risk of civilians being killed (certainly not worth 30 lives to take out 10 rockets, for example). This is assuming the civilians are known to be there, though, though not much of a shield in that case. Doubt either of these parties involved has any claim to a moral high ground Only the Bad side of the world does those, man.
  15. Still not sure what purpose the phone call warnings do, other than just wrecking property for the sake of it - I suppose it's a carry on to the policy of demolishing suicide bombers' home. Rather bizarre form of punishment, rather counter-productive (though one could argue it fulfills a deeper purpose). Not sure where schools fit in the target classification scheme, but they hit another today, whoops. UNRWA also made a statement about the previous attack - http://www.unrwa.org/newsroom/official-statements/unrwa-strongly-condemns-israeli-shelling-its-school-gaza-serious
  16. Romance from top down or over the shoulder ?
  17. Mako just needed to have mass for the physics model to feel better. That and proper map design and a mechanic to choose your landing spot.
  18. Windchill is the real problem with winter for me. The rare days when it is still out are really nice, even if it's -20 C or something. This past winter sucked, -20 - -30 range and even worse with wind.
  19. 30 C isn't all that bad, used to get that back home a lot. Humidity and the smog make it worse, the latter more so.
  20. There's a joke about living through your kids in there somewhere. Plugging along with Divinity 2 and EU4 still, though fire has gone from both so may take a break and shift to something else - maybe this Factorio game my friend is raving about.
