  1. Soooo, what's the CE bos gonna look like? EDIT: Oh, box looks kind of cool IMO. There is going to be face customization right? Is that why the face of MT is not really visible?
  2. Hm, playing DX I never felt the actions I took were inappropriat for JC to do. Why would I not give a kid on the streets some food? If I see a guy, threatened by thugs and I know I have the ability to help, why not do it? And I think it is one of the strong points of DX that you weren't always told the exact context and consequences of your actions. That's what made the life like credible feel mingoran was talking about possible in the first place. If I had had a journal telling me: "save the bum to get the password", that would have felt artificial. And how do you figure AP will be so similar to DX? I don't see too many indications for that. That said, I think it wouldn't hurt to have those small "quests" or optional errands or whatever you want to call it in AP. Of course they should not fell like being added but they would have to integrate. Another question: Anyone knows if there will be aoptional missions that you may or may not access from the hub itself? May those could even appear or not appear according to the alliances you made in the past.
  3. Alright, didn't have time to read the whole topic just right now but the search topic function didn't turn up results so I guess this has not been suggested yet. A very good mini series is "the state within". It's mainly about the British ambassador in Washington DC who is confronted with an international crisi. Basically it looks like it is inspired by 24 but it much more focuses on the political and diplomatic aspect than on the action (though there is some in it as well). I got the DVDs about a year ago and I am gonna watch it again as I am waiting for AP to come.
  4. Making of DVD, OST CD, poster with whatever people want to dream about are just fine. However I would much rather go for other stuff, so how about a cool LED keyring pendant (I just read that a possible translation for what I mean would be key fob, so I want to assure you people that this has nothing to do with my name here ). Or how about an AP pocket knife (a set of lockpicks would be really cool but I doubt they can do that). Anyway, gadgets would be really cool and fit best to the whole spy RPG thing IMO). As far as the steel book edition is concerned, I don't really have anything against it. However, I would prefer the case to be made like a dossier file (anyone familiar with the special edition of the Bourne DVDs?). I think that would be a cool casing.
  5. Here is one more vote for a CE. Would absolutly buy it and I can imagine awesome stuff for a modern day spy RPG
  6. In principle I agree with you, though I don't understand how Manan is an example of bad side missions. However I think in this case, if you completely get rid of exploratory areas with NPCs who give you quests and all, you really have to present the transitions from the hub to the mission well. Deus Ex did that in a good way I think (Jock and his stealth chopper were just cool) but if you don't take care of that and just select your next area in a menu, it will fell lame ( I am thinking of Jedi Knight 3: Jedi Academy here, I know it's not an RPG but it had these mission menus). So I hope the connectivity between missions is presented well. Than I don't have a problem with the hub approach.
  7. And just by the way, a game can never be too similar to mass effect (except maybe on side missions and in elevators )
  8. Think so, too. Last I hared was something like towards the end of 2009, which seems far more realistic to me. I'll probably get both games anyway.
  9. I certainly hope they wont make it as "colorful" as the NOLF series. Don't get me wrong, the games were great but it's not what I expect from AP. I had hoped for at least the level of seriousness of the Bourne movies or 24. Now they are also far from realistic but they go into the direction of coolness rather than humor. This I think fits very well well with the spy setting and I was hoping AP would be bold enough to at least try that. I mean come on, the SC series also pulled that one off, so apparently it can work in video games.
  10. Not to mention that they apparently heard the sound generator but did not hear a incoming train.
  11. Don't agree. First of all, videos give a good impression of the animations ,second, feedback is important for the developers as a reference of what people like or don't like. And as it has been said before, criticism here is constructive, not discouraging. Now, back on topic: I just watched the G4 Hands on and the Walkthrough video from the other thread. Looks really cool, especially because in those two vids we see the different play stiles (combat vs. stealth). I love the way, the target reticule narrows in slowly when you try to archive a critical hit. But what people said here is true. The animations are way too fast. That really takes realism out of the game. I hope this will be polished until release. Other than that, it looks pretty much like I expected it. In other words, it's gonna be my personal gaming highlight of the year.
  12. Hey everyone, Been lurking these boards for a while now and after reading this thread I decided it was time to share my humble opinion with the world. That is, that neither NOLF nor DX really have the kind of atmosphere I hope for in AP (though they are magnificent games, each of them). NOLF is just too light & bright whereas DX is too science fiction oriented. In AP I want to feel like I am in the here and now, dealing with real and serious problems but with the over portrayed (sometimes cliche-ish) wit and cunning of the fictional spy setting. Comparisons are the Bourne movies (or also Spy Game if you will), the Splinter Cell games, or sometimes even 24. As far as the articles and interviews I read go, it doesn't look like I'm gonna be disappointed by the Obsidian guys. So what I wanted to say is, I hope they don't put in too many outside influences. That would also make sure that we'll see a really unique game and setting.
