Greed isn't inherently bad. In fact, one could argue, much as I am doing now, that it is the natural result of millenia of Darwinian evolution. The "public welfare and common good" are, much like everything else, relative: at least factory workers have jobs, and are making more money than they would be if not for the influence of capitalism.
