Patch 0.4.2 has been Released

We have released Patch 0.4.2 for all players. Please update your game when you see that this update is available to receive the following fixes and changes: FIXES - ALL PLATFORMS Fixed the large frame drops that could happen when approaching the pond. Opening the save / load screen when you have a lot of saves will no longer take multiple seconds to open. Fixed issue where clients that join the game or respawn on top of a base building structure or on a base floor could fall through the world. Fixed issue where sometimes trying to jump onto a lily pad could cause you to fall through the pond as if the water wasn't there. XBOX ONE | XBOX ONE S PLAYERS Fixed the out of video memory crash that happens when approaching the pond or oak tree area. Fixed issue where creating a manual save in the Save / Load screen could cause an out of memory crash on the Xbox One and Xbox One S. XBOX AND WINDOWS STORE PLAYERS Fixed some issues with manual saves and client player data not syncing from the cloud correctly. Patch 0.4.1 has been released for all players. Please update your game when you see that this update is available to receive the following fixes and changes: TOP COMMUNITY ISSUES Fixed an issue that caused blueprints to rotate when attempting to be placed. Fixed a crash that could occur when accepting an invite for a game that has ended. GAME Fixed a progression blocker on the pond quest if you saved and loaded during some of the terminal unlock phases. More informative error messages when failing to join a game (game is full, game no longer exists, etc.). Fixed performance issue with bases built on floating foundations. Fixed issue where clients were not getting access to the SCA.B Scanners that were purchased via BURG.L's Tech Chip Swap Shop. Fixing issue with status effects getting stuck when saving/loading with set bonuses active. Fixed an issue with eating, drinking, and equipping item animations not working properly while underwater. Animations play only on the right hand now. ITEMS/EQUIPMENT/RESOURCES Items will now remain powered on (such as torches) when loading into a game. Random crash fix for clients regarding Grass Plank storage and Weed Log storage buildings. WORLD Removed poison effect from Diving Bell Spiders. Aphids will no longer disappear occasionally when fleeing from threats. AUDIO Fixed player eating sounds being heard by all players at full volume regardless of distance. It's that time, time for our annual Extra Life Charity Stream! #FORTHECHIDS! While this year will be a tad different than previous years, the team has been working hard on finding ways to produce the show while keeping everything safe together. All the money donated during this event will go directly to the Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) to help them take care of the many children at their facilities, help out the families of these children to make sure they are taken care of, and to help staff the hospital and make sure they have all of the equipment needed to continue to keep doing what they do best: help the children who need it the most. You can now host a "Private" game that does not show up on the Game Finder and friends can only join via invite. Increased how much time the player can last underwater without air before dying. Mutations Doubling the bonus damage for all weapon-based "class" mutations. Doubling the effectiveness of the Juicy mutation. Doubling the effectiveness of the Meat Shield mutation. Doubling the effectiveness of the Buff Lungs mutation. Combat Explosive damage can no longer be blocked. Reducing the rate at which Bombardier hazards deal damage. Bombardier shotgun spray attack now has double the windup time. Bows now deal a little bit more damage. Water Fleas will now attempt to attack. Poison effects now deal 50% more damage (to creatures and the player). Players can only attack with daggers, spears, and shovels while underwater. Interface HUD Marker Icons now fade out a bit as they approach the edge of the screen to reduce noise when there are lots of Trail Markers built. Increased the number of key items slots shown in the Data screen so if more than 30 are collected, you can view them all. Added "Unset Respawn Point" to the Rest/Respawn Point screen. World Items floating on water will eventually drift to the edge. Reducing the cost of all tech chip science purchases by up to 40%. Fixed zipline lines disappearing for clients while they are riding it or when get far enough away. Buildings Placing grid buildings that are snapped to other grid buildings should be much smoother for clients, especially at higher pings. Other buildings can be placed on top of tables. Signs can now be placed on the ground in addition to walls. Buildings can be placed on lily pads. Crafting Liquid Gills smoothie now grants additional underwater breath time instead of granting water breathing. Performance Significantly reduced a large hitch when completing buildings in games that have a bunch of buildings already built. Improved render thread performance with games that have a lot of buildings built that emit fire. Improved CPU performance with games that have a lot of trail markers built. The game will no longer lag when in an interactive range of a building piece that's part of a large structure. Additional general improved rendering performance. Bug Fixes - All Platforms Top Community Issues Harvestable objects in or near bodies of water can now respawn correctly (ex. Husky weeds). Clients can now successfully join games with large amounts of removed foliage. Fixed a random crash when loading into the yard. Fixed a crash that could occur when kicking players from a game. Game 'Craft' BURG.L quests for recipes can also be completed by crafting the upgraded version of the recipe, if available. Clients can no longer cause hauled items to float in the air by constructing buildings while hauling certain stacks of items. Fixed issue where conversations would stop working in-game (including the BURG.L conversation UI showing nothing when interacting with him). Fixed issue where the keyboard hotkeys on the Map screen stopped working after dragging your mouse. Fixed a handful of low frequency crashes for clients dealing with item replication. Items/Equipment/Resources Analyzing Silk Rope now actually unlocks recipes instead of just displaying that it does. Floors can no longer be placed on top of foundations, clipping into them. Tomorrow, September 30th, we will be releasing Update 0.3.0 around 10am PDT / 1pm EDT. Included in the patch are the following changes and fixes we've made to the game: New Features The Hedge has been revamped with new content New Building: Zip-lines New Building: Spinning Wheel New Building: Signs New World Landmark: Frankenline Halloween Additions: Jack-o-Lantern landmark, Candy Corn food item Localization for French, German, Spanish, and Italian (more to come at a later date) New spider webs that stick to unsuspecting players and critters Changes/Game Tuning Engine UE4 Version Upgrade Combat Ant Soldiers have a set of new attacks Ant Soldiers now deal more damage with their attacks TAYZ.Ts now deal much more damage with their attacks Most armors now block more damage All weapons have had their damage, stamina cost, and durability adjusted to fit a stricter Tier-based curve Bombardier Beetle burning hazards and Stink Bug gas hazards are now much deadlier Bombardier Beetle attacks deal less initial damage (end result should be about the same combined with hazard damage change) Fresh Defense perk now blocks twice as much gas and burning damage Reliable Friend perk now boosts revive speed by roughly double the amount Trying out new combat AI to reduce the effectiveness of circle-strafing Interface Processing buildings such as the Campfire now show the progress of each item in the interface, and allow items to be canceled The Recycle Building interface now shows how many structures will collapse if the target building is Recycled Contextual slurping text informs you what liquid you're going to taste Additional icon art The Interact UI will no longer briefly appear enabled when looking at a disabled interaction Clearer labeling of game modes/type in save/load UIs Game no longer asks to overwrite a save if you are not able to currently save the game World New perks to discover and unlock New SCA.B color themes to discover and unlock Stumps left behind no longer prevent foliage from respawning Grass will not respawn if the stump is removed Ants now have a desire to take back their stolen eggs Ant eggs can now hatch even after being moved by the player (but not while in an inventory) Ant eggs no longer stack in the inventory Larva wander range is now much smaller during the day Mushrooms in the world now take much longer to grow back Meats now take much longer to spoil SCA.Bs that have been moved since prior patches will reflect those moves in older saves Mint chunks in the Mint container should no longer spawn on top of the container Juice boxes stop spawning juice if a droplet spawned by them is still sitting in the world Removed the Broodmother from the hedge (for now...) Would you mind gathering your save gae file (the most recent, just in case) and your dxdiag for us and zipping them together to host up somewhere and share the link here so we can use this information to help us figure out what is going on? This has been addressed in the recent 0.3.0.2416 update! Please verify you are on this new build and check to see if this is still happening! As for emailing support, for all public test build issues we ask that you keep them on the forums. You will help us greater with posting on the forums so the team can see your issues much quicker in order to work on fixes faster! -
We tried some things with the 0.3.0.2416 update we just pushed out to hopefully fix this. If you are on build 0.3.0.2416 and still experience issues with multiplayer, can you post about it here? Also, can you let us know if this was an issue you experienced previously on the release build? Thank you! Also, I merged two threads together since they were for the same issue. The easiest way to maintain your saved game files when switching between the release build and joining the public test is to make a duplicate save by copying the folder in your Saved Games folder and move it to a safe location before joining the Public Test. Here's how to do this: Method 1: Step 1: Load the game you wish to save. Step 2: Make 2 saves using the save feature in the game. Log out of the game after you confirm you have two saves of the same game. Step 3: Switch to the public test. Choose one of the duplicated saves to be your public test save. Only enter using that save, do not launch the game using the save you are keeping for the release build. Step 4: Play the public test. Step 5: When you are done with the Public Test, switch your Steam client back to the release build. Step 6: Launch Grounded. Step 7: Exit Grounded and wait for the cloud to sync. Step 8: Launch Grounded and continue playing where you left off! Method 2: Step 1: Navigate to C:\Users[USERNAME]\Saved Games\Grounded Step 2: Find the save folder you wish to save, and make a copy of it. You can add something like "-Current Save" at the end so you know what save it is. Step 3: Move the copy to a location outside of this folder, preferably on your Desktop or somewhere you will remember. Step 4: Join the Public Test and start playing! Step 5: When you are done with the Public Test, switch your Steam client back to the release build. Step 6: Move your save file back into your Saved Games folder. Remove any additional words you added to the name. Step 7: Log in and continue playing where you left off! Have fun, and continue to let us know what you uncover in the public test backyard!

Things to keep in mind: The content you are going to experience is currently in development. By participating in our public test, you will be able to help us locate issues and fix them before the content is officially released to all platforms. Since this content is still in development, we ask that when discussing unreleased content to please respect those who aren't participating in the public test who may be waiting for the content to officially release. Use spoiler tags when you feel it is appropriate. It is important to remember that your save files might not be compatible between the test builds and the release builds. This is especially true when moving back to the release branch from the public test branch, since the content in the public test save contains unreleased content. Those who are in the Public Test branch of the game will only be able to play with others who are also in that branch. You will not be able to play with any players on the default release branch of the game. To join the test through the Xbox Insider Flight Program, follow the instructions found on our website here. Accessing the Public Test on Steam: To access the Public Test on Steam, please follow these steps: 1) In your Steam Library Right click on Grounded, and select "Properties" 2) Select the "Beta" Tab, and click the Drop Down for labeled "NONE - Opt out of all beta programs", and instead select "public_test" 3) Close the Window, and you should have a download ready. Attempting to play the game should automatically trigger the download. How to switch back on Steam: To switch back and opt out of all betas, simply repeat the steps above, but select "None - Opt out of all Betas" from the drop-down list in Step 1. Other Platforms: We are currently working on opening this up to other platforms, so stay tuned for announcements on this!
