That Nazi thing sounds hilarious, although I'd probably be tempted to photoshop a character into being a Nazi rather than use an actual real life one. I could probably turn Lisa Simpson or Pearl or somebody else into a Nazi. ...Although, uh, why do it yourself when somebody apparently already has for you? Apparently many of my favorite cartoon characters are actually white supremacist symbols deep into the darkest places on the internet - who knew?

Those scenes are gonna be so much better with the English voice cast, I can already tell! I can already imagine Minako's ridiculous voice as she's yelling at random passerbys that they're actually assassins or whatever. It was weird to hear Ami talk about her father and his apparent inability to communicate like a normal human being and absence from home. Didn't feel like something you'd just suddenly bring up out of the blue in the fourth season of a five season show, . Nice. Well, in that case, at least it was for a good cause: do Skarpen and Bruce next, .

Episode 152: Episode 153, this is a legitimately great episode:
-
It's hard not to notice that a lot of the not-Usagi/Chibi-Usa Sailor Guardian-centric episodes have tended to be highlights of their respective seasons. It's kind of a shame they didn't have more of them - I could've done with more Ami, Makoto, Minako, and Rei episodes, even episodes that aren't necessarily strictly about some of their biggest personality quirks (as much fun as it is for Minako to keep upping how how crazy she is, my favorite episode of hers is still the more serious "I'm getting screwed by life AND I'm a screw-up and I don't like it BUT ALSO I'm not going to do anything about it!" one she had near the beginning of S). Too young to have experienced the bulletin board systems of olde, though I've seen enough of them to know that I think I'm glad for forum-based software instead - it's the new social media systems geared at hosting a trillion different sub-conversations for massive amounts of comments and participants that grind my gears...but I stay off of those anyways, so it works out. *googles "define slash fiction"* Well guys, it was fun watching Sailor Moon with you all, but I have to find another forum. Sayonara!

@majestic They were in-studio introductions, solo interviews, and group interviews done by Viz itself (...I'm fairly certain), they were extras included in the new physical releases. I believe the one where Amanda Miller was talking about being Makoto was a group interview where all of them were asked "what's your relation if any to Sailor Moon, had you heard of it before becoming part of the cast?", and Amanda sort of just took over a big chunk of it because she was very obviously the Sailor Moon turbonerd of the group (although again, if I'm recalling correctly, Rei and Minako were also fans - Amanda was very passionate about it, though). I actually did a search of YouTube for these Viz interviews, but sadly, I didn't see any online. Episode 149: It was pretty whatever. The creeps are no more - at least until I have to go back and watch those first four episodes. Episode 151: (e): Some VAs definitely take it as just a job. As someone who's been watching cartoons my entire life, I tend to have appreciation for the VAs who are "close" to their characters as well being down-to-earth (speaking of, the SU VAs are another one of my favorite sets of casts, and I've watched a lot of silly stuff with/about them - Rebecca Sugar very specifically picked them for their personalities in addition to their voices).

No, I haven't watched it yet - I've been watching like a dozen SU episodes because I'm a crack addict and can't stop watching. I'll probably do that tomorrow. Thanks for putting some words into my feelings, because all of what you just said is how I felt even if I didn't know exactly how to describe it: their stories are really messed up and it feels like they got screwed at every turn, both in and out of universe. This shouldn't have been how all of this went down - it feels grossly tragic on multiple levels, for literally everyone (ourselves, the villains, our heroes, and every other random character sullied with this sorry affair). Well, I'm gonna keep doing what I've been doing and blame Naoko Takeuchi for this mess, . If I ever re-watch SuperS (...doubtful?), I may try to take a slightly kinder eye towards this first half of the season...but it still wouldn't make it any less painful, I think.

The All Things Political Thread (The World and US Reunited)
Bartimaeus replied to Amentep's topic in Way Off-Topic
"I sure wish Biden was a dictator that could just unilaterally decide anything and everything for us." Notice how tens of millions of people who voted for him AREN'T asking for that? Yeah: it's kind of an important distinction. -
Somehow, I'm more annoyed by Pegasus when he shows up than the three creeps - it's just that the three creeps showed up a lot more often and actually did bad things to characters we care about. I think it's because at least...they're supposed to be villains, and I guess they're basically brainless animals that were cursed to be horrible by Zirconia? While Helios is just a weirdo creep that we're not supposed to find a weirdo creep, but he most certainly is. You know, if they had given Helios a nice, not pedophile-sounding girl voice actress with some less weird-sounding dialogue, Pegasus probably would've automatically been a vastly improved character. Of course, then he would've been a different character entirely. Honestly, I am really truly conflicted in regards to how I feel about the creeps...as CHARACTERS. In regards to how the show handled them and what the writers forced them to do, they're the worst - for sure. But as characters and the sorry lots in life they were given...I have a small amount of empathy for them, messed up as that is. And maybe the fact that they were so absolutely screwed over by the show and its writers - in a kind of meta sense, I guess, because there's no reason that they had to be this horrible when you look at the history of other Sailor Moon low-level villains, and the fact that new information made all of their crimes completely pointless IMMEDIATELY after they were to be replaced. There were...funny and likable (villain) characters buried somewhere deep inside of them - we saw hints of it occasionally - that just weren't allowed to shine, while they got saddled with the dirtiest work possible. It's a shame. (e): Just saw your edit - glad you watched it, I thought it was pretty good. I didn't remember her basically calling Crystal crap, but then again, I didn't really know much about Crystal except that I didn't like the animation style when I watched it a few months back, so I probably didn't pay much attention to what she said about it. I liked hers, Rei's, and Minako's interviews best. Rei's was funny because she's basically the complete opposite of her character, while Minako...seemed like she was basically her character personified as well, .

I'm retiring the spoiler tags for SuperS, screw this. Uh...honestly, they were a little underwhelming. I expected their big introduction to be wackier and more over-the-top, but instead they kind of just stood around and didn't do much. Well, I guess their big introduction was probably the previous episode? I'll have to watch that and find out. Or not - does it matter? ...I guess I should, just so I've """completely""" watched the season, once I also watch the first...four, was it, episodes that I missed, and also ignore that I've skipped several minutes of most episodes. This is just not a good season. I think I'll write a little more on the three creeps once I actually watch episode 149. @InsaneCommander Yeah, I'm reminded a little of Mimette. Actually, I thought I HEARD Mimette's voice actress for one of them in this English dub, but I wasn't entirely sure because it's obviously a different voice and they didn't speak too much...
-
It seems as though I accidentally skipped an episode - what I thought was episode 149 was actually 150, whoops! I was wondering what the hell happened to the three creeps, since they just completely disappeared. This season would be confused enough before you even add my out of order and missing episodes in, and that's certainly not helping. But seriously, the hell?

Episode 148: Episode 149:

Yeah, but to be fair to myself, I decided to re-watch the SU episode too because I like it so much too. Whoops! SU: Episode...what the hell episode am I on? Episode 147:
-
Watch the next episode: one of my favorites from S1! Although to be fair, I have a lot of favorites, but that's one of the more favoritiest favorites. And I'll...watch another episode of Sailor Moon SuperS. Hm. No, the new English dub was pretty particular with the words it used and I should've caught on, I'm just the big dumb. Something else I sometimes have in common with Minako... And I'm really looking forward to that episode with Naru and Umino, especially given it's apparently their last appearance...

where the barf emoticon at oh here it is I don't feel nearly that strongly negative - if I did, I would not be able to watch at all, because I can't watch something I hate that much, I just can't force myself to do it. The episodes as a whole have become more negative than positive for sure, but there are still usually some funny moments in each episode, including genuine laugh out loud moments here and there for me. Usually: there have been a few episodes that started, continued to be, and ended badly and couldn't land anything more than a chuckle-worthy moment. It should be noted that KP and I at least are watching the new English dub, which...may or may not help relative to the Japanese, difficult to say for sure (if nothing else, even the *creeps* have made me laugh out loud a number of times, even though I really shouldn't - that might be a sign of the English dub being stronger in of itself, IDK). Not gonna lie, I completely missed the "subtext" there upon the initial watch until you mentioned it in your write-up, but re-watching that scene, it was totally there and I felt like a moron, . Just thought she made a dumb assumption a la Usagi about Mamoru having another girlfriend...until you mentioned it and then I realized all of the very particular word choice implied something quite entirely different! @SU:

Yeah, it doesn't disable it fully, not like setting it to the minimum level on Windows 7 used to. Nothing defaults to admin-elevated even with it set to minimum. Hey, since you disabled updates in Group Policy, do you know if there is a way to shut Windows Defender up about updating its virus definitions? I've firewalled the entire OS from accessing the internet, but doing so causes Windows Defender to incessantly yell at me about its definitions. I tried Googling it, but was surprised that there were no helpful answers at all. The next step was to start digging through Group Policy myself... @Sarex It's been seven years since Windows 10 released. I don't understand why it's taken so incredibly long to switch over fully to Settings - I'll believe it when I see it. What, are you kidding? That's how IT people keep their jobs - Microsoft is trying to get rid of all of us!

It wasn't that the ball thing was forgettable per se (its design as a weird object as a ball specifically makes it a lot more memorable than most of the rest), it's that it was weird and a little uncomfortable, . Also, not gonna lie, probably gonna skip past the Makoto thing because I don't like my beloved characters being subjected to this, . As for that moment with Luna, no, that was funny. I said it some posts ago, but that's what's weird and unfortunate about this season - there are still lots of enjoyable little moments in most every episode, it's just that too many episodes as a whole have become net negatives instead of net positives, whereas in previous seasons, that was never really the case outside of literally like just a few very rare episodes that personally didn't work for me (usually because it was too heavy-handed and focused on the story). @majestic RE: SU

Alright...here we go. Episode 145 (I'm trusting that majestic's numbers for them are correct because otherwise I don't know what I'm on): Episde 146:

I really hate the Control Panel/Settings mess. One or the other, please...and considering how much of a disaster Settings is, I'd prefer bringing back Control Panel, but I know that isn't happening.

It's definitely a good idea, but Microsoft not creating a straightforward way to disable it (especially for those of us who have *always* been perfectly fine with UAC disabled over the last fifteen years), not having a reverse option to start from an elevated mode and instead de-elevate (how hard would it be to have either a "run as standard user" or a "run in sandbox" feature?), etc., leaves a lot to be desired.

I believe this ended up being the winning post: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/716719/run-all-programs-as-admin-by-default/?p=4975198 The description from the user is a little misleading, since it seems to suggest that changing the key simply allows the hidden super Administrator account to run everything without needing approval, but changing the key as suggested had UAC prompt me to restart immediately and upon logging back into my normal administrator user account (i.e. not the hidden super Administrator), everything UAC-related was gone. You'll know that it's working if you open a terminal (either PowerShell or cmd should be fine) without specifying it to run as admin and it still shows itself as being Administrator-elevated at the top. @Sarex Yeah, I know there are still some permissions stuff outside of the UAC stuff (for example, I still can't just start deleting files out of system32 like you could in Windows 7), but at the very least it ends 99% of the daily annoyances. Like good lord, I was having to run my mouse software in administrator mode in order for my mouse to interact with other administrator-elevated applications. I was about to have a brain aneurysm trying to figure out why I could interact with regedit with one mouse but it was completely ignoring the one I actually wanted to use - never experienced something like that before. Ended up restarting my mouse software in administrator mode and suddenly it let me. Alright, cool...so long, UAC.

Okay, but the key thing is they do find and kill him, right? Right? That's a thing that happens? RIGHT?

I recently built a new PC. I've been using Windows 7 for the past decade+, and this new PC unfortunately required that I go to Windows 10. I do not like Windows 10 for a variety of reasons, a big one being its asinine UAC settings that are difficult to turn off. I've had UAC off on Windows 7 for the last decade with nary an incident: in theory, it's good security...in theory. I decided to grit my teeth and give it a chance, and...well, I lasted just about 36 hours after I switched the new PC to be my main PC before I wanted to punt the entire thing into the lake. But instead, I looked some stuff up and completely nuked all of Windows' UAC via some registry edits. Everything runs as admin all the time without needing to double do everything or right-clicking and hitting "run as admin"...and my stuff isn't breaking constantly anymore. I'm not running trashberg Linux here where I have to properly chmod and then sudo every freaking thing I want to do, guys - enough is enough.

That's a terrible lesson to take away from it too, though, .
