  1. Madoka Magica, Part 2, anime is not simply cancelled, but it never existed to begin with:
  2. I'm pretty sure the 4790k is about as or maybe even slightly more powerful than the listed recommended i7-7700...and there's no way it wouldn't be more than enough for freaking Mass Effect, . Those old i7s are still very good, if getting a bit aged in terms of IPC.
  3. It can definitely be a struggle, but I like having hands-on familiarity with my PCs, especially since I like to get everything just so, be able to do physical maintenance and know what I'm doing and where everything is, swap out drives, etc. The neck-breaking pain, not so much, but
  4. @majestic Do not feel bad; I know that it is doing some interesting things that make it different, but modern anime is just...like I said, it's way more than just the art style, the way characters talk and behave that is mystifying and beyond frustrating to me. I wish I could jive with it, I wish I could get over it and just to try enjoy it for what it is, but it utterly breaks my brain. There's a reason I have repeatedly said that I still just am not an anime person - some very high quality anime films that I've watched as well as Sailor Moon are exceptions, yet that's exactly what they are: exceptions. That makes a lot sense, actually...and so is it any surprise that trying to listen to or watch most any kind of theatre almost invariably makes me put my hands up to my ears so I cannot hear it? That unnecessarily expressive, unnecessarily over-the-top, completely stilted quality to everything inflicts literal physical distress on me. And I really mean that - if there was a video feed of me watching the first half hour of this before switching to Japanese, you would see what I mean as I switched between groaning, covering up my face, covering my ears, looking away, clenching my fists, shuddering, etc. Extreme reactions for just some stilted dialogue or bad voice direction, but that's what happens to me because I'm unable to handle it! Suffice to say, I won't be watching anime as one of my main forms of entertainment any time soon, . It should be noted that I do not really hate Sayaka (or anyone else) for her character in of itself - teenage girls are gonna teenage girl, and that can be perfectly fine. Their actual characters are all secondary to the pain being inflicted simply due to stylistic problems in how they're being presented in the show, which is why I don't want to be unnecessarily harsh on the plot or characters themselves. The show is simply and very obviously not for me, which is probably why I shouldn't be watching it as per my prediction before I started it, . Well, hopefully the second part will be better: we'll be watching it tonight. Wish me luck!
  5. Madoka Magica, Part 1, anime is cancelled, please bear with me:
  6. That seems like a heck of a DIY project - is it for yourself or someone else?
  7. I do have a little bit of an excuse in that I had actually been engaged in a multi-hour titanic battle with trying to mount the heatsink bracket, which on the FUMA 2 is designed in such a way that you have to either have mounted it onto the motherboard outside of the case OR you need a third hand to keep it together, and I'd already put my MB into the case and didn't feel like taking it out, and I'd been putting it together very early in the morning with no-one else around to help. I should've just taken the motherboard out or waited, because I was incredibly incensed at my new PC after trying a bunch of different ideas to do it without either of those - I finally concocted a harebrained solution to do it that worked, but I was mad and tired and just kinda tossed my heatsink onto it in the frenzy without really looking at it. Funnily, after getting it up and running, I actually had the thought "...did I take the plastic off? I specifically told myself to do that at some point, but I don't remember...I must have, it's working, after all!". No, past me, no I didn't. Shocked the temperatures were as good as they were during all of my benchmarking and testing for like an entire week.
  8. hey guys, quick question, is your cpu cooler supposed to look like this (image taken from someone else's reddit post but still accurate) In completely unrelated news, my Cinebench R23 score jumped up to 15620 without any OC or making any changes, no idea why though, must be magic I guess, . Oh, and in other, even more completely unrelated news, I have been cancelled from working in IT or with computers ever again, this is my final message to all of you because my PC and other devices have decided that I'm no longer allowed to use them, goodbye forever
  9. There's a really awkward scene in the original English dub as a result of making Fish Eye a lady.
  10. Yeah, I can't believe Peridot cameoed in Sailor Moon either!
  11. That sounds quite good from your description of it - I'll do my best to forget it. This seems like the exact kind of episode that Sailor Moon could've benefited from every once in a while in lieu of following THE FORMULA, .
  12. lmao you weren't kidding, that really was a short "trailer" I definitely get that - if someone's voice is bad enough, I often immediately close out of a video regardless of what they're talking about, even if I'm super interested in the content. Just can't listen to you, pal - sorry! There was a poster (not here) who used to write some more long-form essays on some more interesting historical bits of American football, and I, being an American football watcher, used to read and enjoy them; then he stopped making the written essays and started making VIDEO essays on it instead, and while most other people seemed okay with it, I tried multiple times and could never hack it. Real crappy, but I just can't listen to you! Reading, both regular and visual novels, in general is lot more forgivable/what you make of it experience, I think. If a book is bad, it's not like your senses are being directly assaulted by it in the same manner as when you're watching a show or playing a video game, and you can skip or skim exactly as much as you like at whatever pace you feel like - the experience in general is much more in control of the reader. The worst things that usually happen for a reader in books is when you're already super invested into a book or series that you enjoyed and thought was well-written and THEN something really poorly-written happens and the whole thing sort of deconstructs and invalidates itself, .
  13. Correct me if I'm wrong or misremembering, but insurrectionists were, at one point, literally just one hallway away from Vice President Pence, after they'd been loudly chanting outside that he should be hanged. I cannot even imagine the eventual response from Congress if the unthinkable had happened. If not for the actions of a few very brave, clever, and also horribly ill-equipped security officers misdirecting and corralling the insurrectionists (while also not inciting more violence, I might add!) for as long as they could to allow our elected officials the time to escape and take shelter... Trump is a demagogue, a ruler of the mob - always has been, always will be. It was absolutely his mob, his insurrection, an insurrection he refused to put or slow down in its most critical stages when he had the opportunity to at least try. The fact that it was not successful, the fact that it was kind of sad and pathetic (and yet simultaneously very dangerous for our elected officials), does not take away from it being an insurrection that Trump had a direct hand in helping incite. Also, Palenstine/Israel meme: Too true, way too true.
  14. Even humorless, monstrous little old me still has some fondness for Ernest. They're by no means as funny as they were as a kid, and many gags earn more embarrassed facepalms than laughs, but they certainly still have their charm. Helen Hunt? Literally never heard of her...and look at that, I've never seen a single thing she's been in - can't help but notice that she was a lot more active in the 70s and 80s than the 2000s or even the 90s. Well, well...the future is now, old man, .
  15. The last handful of episodes soured KP a little, but otherwise IIRC he thought it was great, and I certainly thought it was great - not that divisive! And we only have middle-fingers for (much of) the general fanbase, so far as I'm concerned, that does indeed mean that by consensus, it is indeed great! This is why I stick to Sailor Moon Says! Everyone on there knows what's up. ...Although I get the feeling that that's because half of the people on there have never watched Sailor Moon to begin with and are just seeing everything out of context through the lens of short and screwed-up original English dub clips...and the rest are 30-40 year old fans from when the English dub itself came out and have since realized that some parts were not perhaps quite as kosher as they might have once thought when they were younger. I started off in the first group, now I've graduated to a rare in-between where I've actually watched all of the show but not much of the original dub, . Madoka Magica should be coming up very soon(TM) for me - maybe by the end of this weekend even! Well, the first movie at least, . I'll refrain from watching the trailer - while I have an admitted love affair with posters, it's the exact opposite with me for trailers: I don't think I've ever seen a trailer for a movie or show that I've liked that I've really thought did justice or gave an accurate impression, and in fact, watching a number of trailers has made me turn away from watching stuff that I ended up watching and liking or loving later, so I just don't do trailers for stuff I already want/am going to watch anymore.
  16. Transcript: A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men.
  17. It's true, I don't usually watch movies made for toddlers. I guess it would've helped to have known going into it that it was made for toddlers - after all, why would adults want to watch a movie made for toddlers? ...Now shows for toddlers, that's what it's all about. Where my Peg + Cat and Let's Go Luna peeps at? We're gonna straight murder those rotten Daniel Tiger and PJ Masks kids.
  18. Yeah, that excuse doesn't really fly for someone who has many favorite shows and movies that are also primarily targeted at children. If a movie is atrocious trash and makes me long for death, it makes me long for death and I'm gonna consider it accordingly! Oh, I see, it's one of those movies I completely forget the existence of immediately after seeing 15 seconds of it because I've already tuned it out. Right then, .
  19. I once sat through the first Ice Age movie a few years back with someone else. It's a movie that...does not really have anything wrong with it, but it also doesn't do anything well either - utterly predictable and bland, just mildly annoying and obvious paper-thin characters, a plot that is so by the numbers that it's a wonder it wasn't machine-generated, etc. Watching it inspired such an absolute lack of any kind of feeling except general annoyance and irritability, I would've preferred to have watched something I hated. At least with that, I would've felt something and been able to approach the movie in a different way, like actively rooting for main characters' downfalls and cheering when the movie did the most stupid thing that it possibly could do. With something that's so incredibly...nothing like an Ice Age, it felt like a slow suffocation. If that's what Twister is, I freaking hate Twister.
  20. Netflix tried to recommend Cardcaptor to me a few weeks ago, and I ended up putting it on my watchlist and will probably give an episode or two a try at some point. Might not be Sailor Moon, but it may or may not work as a sort of substitute if I really want something kind of like it, .
  21. man, screw you guys. wait, not that last person, they knew what they were talking about
  22. why does the logo look like this ok I get that it's a minor gripe for a crappy trailer, but really, why does it look like this, it looks like it was made for some absolute abyss-tier edutainement like...pinkalicious or pj masks or daniel tiger's neighborhood - what is this crap? it's like it was whipped up in powerpoint in 10 minutes the state of animation leaves a lot to be desired right now
  23. I was so confused as to what the hell you were on about until I finally got to the end. I forgot that there was an anti-shipper context to all of this until then, so it had really looked like you'd finally completely lost it. The rest of the post makes so much more sense now... I'm surprised Darwin was a Sailor Moon fan, but I guess when you know it, you know it, and he obviously knew it.
  24. when did snake become a security guard
