  1. Just saw this and thought of you! Pretty cool stuff! I think they will be giving some of these promotional dossiers away soonish, keep an eye out. http://blogs.sega.com/usa/2009/04/27/alpha...y-dossier-swag/
  2. I very much hope so, I've heard lots of good things about this game, I would hate to see it not sell as well as it should just because the graphics didn't meet the standard of the kids these days.
  3. If you ask me, this is the best thing that could have happened to the game... I mean you cannot say that it is being rushed this time! I also think that the game needs another 7 months of polish... some graphical effects need work, textures, animations and explosions as well. I also noticed bushes/trees look odd. Also, I find the muzzle flash on weapons is to yellow-ish, it should be a much quicker succession of almost white flashes.
  4. I've heard Sega will give AP a pretty big marketing push, but they are focusing on their games coming out NOW at the moment like Empires, MadWorld, House of the Dead ect. I suspect now allot of those games are out you'll start to see more info on AP turning up. I think it is set for an October release so it still has a long time to go... No point in hyping it up 7 months before release and then people moving on like they did with Brothers In Arms Hells Highway.
  5. Graphically this game is very hit and miss, sometimes it looks very nice, other times... not so much. I'm not someone that cares much for graphics, but realistically graphics need to be pretty damn good to sell a game these days, even an RPG. I hope this game is pushed back if it needs to be for graphical touch ups.
  6. Unfortunitly in this day and age you need good graphics and animations to sell a game... Right now this game is looking very sup-par in these areas. For me, I'm not bothered about that very much, but if you think the majority wont be... I dunno.
  7. (Demo Spoilers) I had allot of fun with the Demo, I beat the brandy wine battle on the second attempt as the first attempt I tried to cross the river and the wrong point, realised I couldnt but their cannons had already ruined me. Second go I rallied at the correct point, charged my horse across and took out some small groups hiding in the trees, some came forward, i pulled my horses back across the river and lined up ALL my foot soldiers and took the enemy out easy enough... Marched all the way up to where a small settlement area was... had an epic battle, really fun stuff... The enemy AI is much better in this game then the previous games I think. The ship battles were also really great, again won on my second go... just due to bad tactics in the first go. I love watching the enemies ships getting blown to bits by my cannons, the chunks of ship falling off, men juming over board and ships singing and rolling is fantastic. My biggest problem was the loading times, man they took ages... Even after changing my settings it took a good while to load. Overall enjoyed the demo, will buy!
  8. Just a heads up about both Aliens games and Alpha Protocol. Alpha Protocol will get big advertisment push because Sega really want it to sell well, (just how big is yet to be seen) the game testers seem to really be enjoying playing Alpah Protocol though. The Aliens the RPG is a long way off still, I've heard Sega will be holding an 'Aliens Event' soon-ish. Next month maybe? Since we are on the subject, Aliens: Colonial Marines may be pushed back again, I think it'll be a very good game though. Finally, just a note that the Sega of America guys have nothing but good things to say about the Obsidian guys and they get on really well from what I've heard. That is all!
  9. One thing I find myself asking over and over again, if grass is going to make your game look ugly... why have grass? Other then ugly grass I think it looks good.
  10. in that case the CGI is pretty bad quality in some areas.
  11. So, just to make sure, this is using the ingame engine? or is it all CGI?
  12. So @\NightandtheShape/@, what your saying is, It's not your type of game.. Which is fair enough. But to call the game a joke just because you don't like it doesnt sit well with me. Funny you should bring up GTA, because I hate GTA series with passion.. But I see why people would injoy it and I leave it at that.
  13. Well just saying that Shenmue is a joke of a game alone isn't any more of a constructive argument either. Shenmue made some great leaps forward, It introduced Quick Time Events which countless games use now, The graphics and world detail for its time where amazing, The fighting system was as good as any Fighter using the Virtua Fighter style engine that it did. Everything in the game was based in real places the storyline is based on history and myth dating back years into the Chinese dynasties. When you see the sky scrapers in Shenmue 2 where you can go into every room and each room is different to the next you can see how much effort and detail was put into making this game and where all the money went.. Sure a lot of it is unnecessary but its what MAKES the game what it is love it or hate it. I know that Shenmue is not for everyone it starts off very slow and isn't all out action all the time which most people look for in a game. I'm sorry for calling you a dolt but I've spent a lot of time on this game and I think its awesome despite a couple of things that could have been done better. like the tedious jobs you take and voice acting.
  14. The series isn't cancelled, its just on hold for now. In fact recently a game came out called Virtua Fighter 5, pretty big fighting game series from the same team in Sega of Japan with a hint to Shenmue being finished. One of the Pai characters in Quest mode is named "Shen Fa" with the tagline: "The Tree will Blossom Again" (Shenmue meaning 'Cherry Tree' in Japanese) Still Shenmue 1 and 2 are probably my 2 most replayed games ever, I find them to be such a great tale, with insane amounts of depth when you research the real places they are based and the real myths its based around. Some guy I know of went and took pictures of the real places in the game and its very authentic. Epic and inspiring game love it! despite the bad English voice acting. Anyway.. This is miles off topic so back ON topic another game that wowed me for graphics is Half Life 2 on PC when running on a high end PC was wowzor.
  15. Shenmue is a freaking epic game. The only people who can't appreciate Shenmue are dolts or have ADD, which are you?
  16. 2D is owned by Guilty Gear X2 reloaded, awesome fluid and very well designed characters.. For its day (and even now) SHENMUE has some of the most awesome video game graphics, 7 year old graphics still hold up today.. the game was breath taking when I first played it.
  17. Truse me when I say, your missing nothing.
  18. Panzer Dragoon series and Shenmue series Some of the most epic and moving music I've heard bar none.. Video game or other wise. Jet Set Radio, On its own it's not my kind of music, but it fit Jet Set Radio / Jet Grind Radio perfectly.. awesome.
  19. Is that why they went third-party? Alot has changed since then, they merged with a company that was rolling in money.. Now there the richest 3rd party games company based in Japan. They didnt have to rape any smaller companys to get it either.
  20. Nonsense, Publishers play a massive role in how the game turns out.. Should I really have to tell an Obsidian fan this? Sega have a lot of money, but that isn't really what matters in the long run. Its how much money publishers are willing to sink into the game. The richest games companies may not be the most likely to chuck it at developers. Well I ment just a Vampire based game but a new IP.
  21. swaping between 'Condemned' and 'Brothers in Arms Hill30' both for PC.
  22. Hmm would anyone want a new game like Vampire the Masquerade from Obsidian/Sega? I think it would be pretty awesome.
  23. Yeah I agree, they quickly stop being fun and become a chore.
  24. If either are show at all this year they will be shown at a big event such as E3, TGS or that new European Show Sega have set up.
