Will all the dialogue in the game be voiced like in the first one? And most important of all: will there be an abundance of Wookies? Probably. But hopefully they can reveal a few minor details. Hi btw KQ.

Guess they're just trying to be very careful. LucasArts is a big publisher, and the Star Wars license is a huge property. Obsidian has a lot riding on this game and everything surrounding it. They probably don't want to overstep their bounds at all. Either that, or they hate that they've attracted the old Black Isle fanbase and want everyone to piss off and leave them alone. I do hope they'll be a little more..."present" after the game is announced though. One of the things I attribute to Bios success is the hype they always build up around their games within the gaming community. Whether through company presence on their message boards, regularly releasing screenshots, news, character profiles, or what have you. I got really interested in the first KotOR just by reading how excited the developers and fans seemed about it on their message boards.

Lucasarts CONFIRMS Sith Lords
StillLife replied to Craftsman's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
"The Sith Lords features an all-new more perilous storyline, new characters, classes, locations, and force powers." Sounds like they're marketing it as more of an expansion than a sequel. Good news is that it sounds like the PC and Xbox versions will be released at the same time. -
KOTOR was like teh best RPG made. Best story ever! I hope these Obesedian guys know what there doing... Will u be able to have black light sabers in KOTOR 2??? And will the game be multiplayer??? I want to have kick ass lightsaber duels with my friends on Live!!! You know it's coming.

You have a sinister, twisted mind Sarg.

All my pictures are on my old computer. Found this one I used to use for an av at another board though. Here.

Mischievous Child. "Although you might look like a perfect, angelic eight year-old, inside lies the heart of a 200 year-old dragon. Or something equally disturbing. Either way, I don't trust you."

What I want to see in KOTOR II
StillLife replied to Fearless_Jedi's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
All RPG makers should just do away with character customization options completely. I don't want to decide any of that stuff. I want my character to be as generic as possible, or at least make sure I don't have any control over how he turns out. Then we can really have some great interactive movies to pretend like we're playing along with - Final Fantasy style. That would be great. <_< -
Don't force me to play a jedi
StillLife replied to triCritical's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I was one of the people all for multiple races options in Fallout 3. And I'd like to see them in the next KotOR too. Variety is the spice of life, and in my experience, a wider range of options usually make for a richer game. I do remember the complaints that playable supermutants and ghouls would take focus away from the "more important aspects" that the devleopers could've been working on in Fallout 3 though. Same silly excuses people have been making in this thread concerning KotOR 2. -
The best thing about KotOR was...

Chewbacca has a dad named Itchy? and a kid brother named Lumpy? Bea Arthur singing in the cantina? Jefferson Starship? and Han Solo saying to Chewbacca's family, "all of you are an important part of my life"? and all this before the Empire Strikes Back? classic? i think the word you are looking for is 'abomination'. p.s. do you suppose all that stuff is canon? Hell yeah it's canon. What, the heroes from the Star Wars movies couldnt' take time off to celebrate the holidays with family and excessively hairy friends? Nah, I never really saw that movie. Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher didn't play their respective roles for it did they? The only made for T.V. Star Wars thing I saw was about Endor and the Ewoks. It was pretty terrible. -

Hey, people, I wasn't asking your approval on what you thought of the Wookie planet. It was my favorite part. A lot of things in that game could have been better, but it was what it was. Lets move on. B) Dude, quit pissing on my childhood memories. The holiday wookie special was a classic. <_< -

I dug the Jawas too. They're supposed to look really hideous and covered with flys and stuff under those hoods they wear though. The main thing I truly enjoyed in KotOR was visiting Kashyyk or whatever it was called. I had this childrens book when I was a little kid that was about Chewys solo adventures, fighting slavers and monsters and stuff on his home planet - Kashyyk. It was fun getting to explore it in a graphical setting, since the films never have. I think Wookies have always been my favorite part of Star Wars too. So a planet full of them was a nice touch. "Gurrrrrrrr....Rurggggh" -
Well said Brios, good to see you around. Even though you hate my opinions on gaming. And while I agree that Fight Club is overrated, Chuck Palahniuk (author of Fight Club) is a black comedy genius. Enough out of me. The Lair is back up and I'm feeling lucky tonight. Soon...very soon, I will land myself a forum geek to exchange "pics" with one of these days. God willing, maybe even a female this time. Amen to that brother!

I know, I was joking too.
-
:D I'm sorry but that's just nuts. And kinda creepy in a way too Teatime.
-
Ah, so you are basically just going by speculation. That seems a bit flimsy of an approach to judging an entire board communitys purpose in posting at a particular place. :D I'm sorry but I'm having trouble taking this seriously anymore. If it is known as a "chick community", someone forgot to tell me when I started posting there. Women, they really aren't that a big of a deal man. If the fact that there are a few female posters there bothers you, obviously you should keep doing like you have been and avoid the place. But please don't assume all the guys there share your same way of thinking. By the way, did you know something like 44% of the computer gaming population is made up of women? You're bound to run into a few of them while discussing the subject, on any board. I was planning on leaving when I realized what the general attitude was there anyway. Kissing someones ass that I have no respect for isn't in my nature. Just thought it was kind of pathetic that he felt the need to ban me for disrupting his diatribe. Brios was kind enough to unban me pretty quickly, but there was no point going back. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of people who's opinions I respect at NMA, including yours and Mr. T's - I'm not speaking ill of all of them. My point was that people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Kind of silly to accuse an entire forum of showing a lack of maturity when one you frequent really isn't any better, if not far worse. Oh there are plenty of disagreements there. Otherwise it would get boring. But you can have a disagreement without resorting to petty name-calling, or abusing your power, and by at least having the decency to keep an open mind on occasion if you're going to engage in a discussion. We'll just have to settle on differences of opinion then Kharn. Take it easy. B)

I wasn't being overly senstive, really. I must be bad at expressing myself in written words. People seem to always think I'm taking something a lot more seriously than I am. I just haven't seen any examples of what you guys were talking about, so it seemed rather strange. Have you seen any evidence that would lead you to that conclusion? Because I honestly haven't. Or is your line of thinking that because a female runs the board, that must be the only reason anyone goes there? A lot people, myself included, migrated there simply because the Interplay boards became reduced to an endless cycle of the same redundant discussions, and it seemed like a good alternative. There were a lot of people already posting there. I did join up at NMA by the way, if you don't remember. Though that didn't last long. After trying to defend some russian kid being raked over the coals by half the board for suggesting that maybe the folks there should be more open-minded to BOS, (even though I didn't share that viewpoint) and for his flawed use of the English language, that Roshambo guy decided I had to be banned. How dare I question someones cyber bully routine? Forgive me if I didn't find it to be the bastion of mature discussion. Mature grown men don't need to use the interent as a tool to anonymously harass people. My opinion of course. To me, respect is a sign of maturity. Tolerance for differing opinions is a sign of maturity. For the most part, that seems to be the general attitude I've seen at the Lair. Your experience must have been different I guess, because I also haven't seen anyone "fawning over girls" there. I would like to think that most people have moved past the point of viewing the internet as a global dating service. Then again, maybe I'm just being naive. I haven't seen Lost in Translation. Though I plan on it. I don't think I've even had a discussion about movies at that site, so you must be thinking of someone else. Or by "your" were you referring to everyone that posts there as a singular entity? Because like most people, I'd like to think I'm capable of individual thought. :D
-
Damn, what forums are you guys going to in there!? Try sticking to the General Gaming Discussion and the RPG discussion Teatime, or even the music forum. That's probably the main reason you'd go there anyway right? I've never even seen anything there like what you're talking about. And who the hell is following females in a cult? Are you just disturbed that the board is owned/operated by a girl or what? It's not like the backround of the forums are pink or something man. As for Kharn: one of the reasons I like that place is because the majority of posters seem to be over 18, and the discussions usually tend to maintain a mature and friendly level most of the time, with flaming kept to a minimum. Even Visc/Hades seems to get along ok there. So again, I don't know what you're talking about either. Of course if your idea of an engaging discussion involves rallying the local board mob to break out the flame throwers and go to work on someone, I could see how it might not be your cup of tea. That's what NMA is for after all. B)

Don't force me to play a jedi
StillLife replied to triCritical's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Tri I agree with you. I wanted to be able to play a non-jedi before the first game was even released. Han Solo and Chewy were probably my favorite characters in the original trilogy too. Unfortunately, it's not gonna happen. Everything Star Wars has to revolve around jedis now. Not that I really understand why. I was surprised that Galaxies even allowed for multiple classes in that game, instead of just forcing everyone to be a jedi. Speaking of Galaxies, and on the subject of different character races: how do wookies communicate in that game with everyone? I know they are a playable race. Aren't there translators that different species can use so that people can understand them in the Star Wars universe anyway? How did your character from the first one understand what Zaalbaar was saying? Creatively speaking, there a plenty of ways to get around the language barrier, especially in a setting where the general populace is made up of 100s of different alien races, and technology seems limitless. Where would Star Wars have gotten if George Lucas had just given up on using aliens for fear that it would be too hard to explain how everyone communicates? Come on people. It's been mentioned already, but there are still plenty of races capable of speaking in galactian basic outside of humans anyway. There's no real reason why you should only be able to play humans, aside from developer preference, which is really the only reason we didn't have that option in KotOR, and probably won't in KotOR 2. -
More interaction with NPC's!
StillLife replied to Craftsman's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
You're right that it was too mechanical at times, as well as predictbable. It would have been better if they didn't even tell you when you got points, or how many. It should be a hidden system. I really loved how theft was handled in the Gothics. You go into someones house uninvited and the owner will draw their weapon on you and warn you to get out. If you don't, they'll attack. You can beat them into unconsciousness or even kill them, in which case, everyone in town will know you're a muderer and treat you accordingly. -
Whew, that's good news. The off-season santa was starting to wig me out.
-
I hope the devs don't do the tacky, predictible
StillLife replied to Joren DarkStar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Yeah, I don't like when games do that either. Like Deus Ex: IW. Having to kill the character you played in the original game isn't cool. That's why I'd prefer they just left the old characters completely out of it. I don't want anyone telling me how the character I used to play is now. -
More interaction with NPC's!
StillLife replied to Craftsman's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
In the case of somewhat defenseless NPCs, they could have had them demand that you leave their stuff alone. Maybe if you continued to steal the stuff after you've been warned, then you're given a dark side point for every item you take. That might be a bit harsh though. Of course if you were stealthy about it, and they didn't notice, there would be no punishment. By now, you would think it should be a standard that NPCs in RPGs are going to react to things you do, like stealing their valuables. If some dude came bursting into my home and started taking whatever he wanted, I don't think I'd just stand around waiting for him to strike up a conversation with a big goofy grin on my face. Its a total immersion killer. -
KOTOR 2 screenshot and KOTOR details
StillLife replied to Craftsman's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I thought the graphics in the original were great too HK, and I played the Xbox version. Those screenshots look far below the quality of the original to me though. Couple of examples: http://www.xboxcorp.com/kotor/13.jpg http://www.xboxcorp.com/kotor/23.jpg Like I said, I'm sure half of it is just the quality of the scan, which was probably already taken from paper magazine pages. But a few things like the jagged models, sloppy textures, the dull backrounds, and the bland color palettes are what I'm mainly referring to. Of course I'm reserving judgement till they announce it and start releasing polished screens. Just going by what we've seen so far, which I realize is probably a bit premature. The actual details sound pretty cool so far. Thanks for going to all the trouble by the way Craftsman.
