Summoned weapons scale Accuracy / Damage / Pen based on the character level, rather than Power Level. Otherwise, summoned weapons would be less viable for multiclass characters. Increased Power Level does affect the duration of summoned weapons. If you right-click on a summoned weapon spell, such as Parasitic Staff, and hover over the duration value, you'll see a tooltip showing the bonus from Power Level on duration.

sworn rival spell accuracy
crystalis78 replied to Gromnir's question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
This will be resolved in the next Beta update. In the current build, Marked Prey and Sworn Enemy weren't granting their bonuses for ANY ranged attack - weapon, spell, etc. These abilities have been refactored for the next update. -
Hey crystalis78, the Sworn Enemy works for spells in POE 1 too, does this bug fixing also let spell get Sworn Enemy bonus now? Yes, the bonus should also affect spells and abilities used against Sworn Prey (Marked Enemy?) targets.

Arcane Assault gains no functional bonus from power level
crystalis78 replied to SaruNi's question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
Generally speaking, increased Power Level gives a spell more Accuracy, Penetration, and Damage/Healing (a small amount per Power Level). Additionally, we do some further scaling based on the type of spell it is. A spell will get additional scaling based on the following criteria (as soon as a spell matches one of the following criteria, it stops, so you don't get all of the following on any one spell): A spell with a projectile that bounces (Spreading Plague) will gain more bounces. Each PL is a fractional bounce, so it takes a couple of bonus Power Levels to see an additional Bounce. A spell with multiple projectiles will gain more projectiles. Each PL is a fractional additional projectile, so it takes a couple of bonus Power Levels to see an additional projectile. A spell that deals damage or applies effects with a duration will increase the damage/healing amount and duration of the applied effects. Anything that doesn't meet the above criteria gets bonus Accuracy. -
This should be addressed in the next Backer Beta update. In order to fix the issue where Sworn Enemy / Marked Prey abilities weren't affecting ranged attacks (and what self-respecting Ranger would ever want to attack their Marked Prey with a bow, of all things?), we adjusted how these abilities function. As part of that change, you should no longer get stacking bonuses from upgrades to Sworn Enemy / Marked Prey. If that's still broken after the update, please let us know!

Arcane Assault gains no functional bonus from power level
crystalis78 replied to SaruNi's question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
You should see a bonus to Accuracy from Wizard Power Level when the spell is cast. This would be visible if you hold down SHIFT while mousing over the relevant entry in the combat log. Also, Power Level DOES grant a bonus to the Raw Damage dealt, it's just not broken out properly in the UI. This is a bug that affects several of our abilities. -
[BUG] Concelhaut's Parasitic Staff is not parasitic
crystalis78 replied to Boeroer's question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
Thanks for the catch, Boeroer. The draining effects weren't properly flagged to be included in the Backer Beta. This will be fixed in our next update.- 1 reply

Trap detection back to mechanics?
crystalis78 replied to Madscientist's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
Thanks for the feedback, everyone! I took a look at the Perception requirements for detecting traps, and they were a bit high. In the next Beta update these will be reduced. -
[BUG] Spell still misses when Intuitive is ON
crystalis78 replied to dunehunter's question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
dunehunter, good catch! This Inspiration was set up to convert Misses to Grazes, but didn't grant grazes automatically. So, if you were a fighter with Confident Aim, or used an attack that automatically was able to Graze, the Miss to Graze conversion would work. Otherwise, you'd still miss. In the next Beta update, Intuitive will grant Grazes as well as converting Misses to Grazes. -
HaonQQ, the Perception attribute is used to detect traps in Deadfire, rather than Mechanics skill.

I noticed this as well while implementing the revisions to Priest abilities Josh mentioned on his twitter feed. I believe I've caught all of the instances where this can be a problem, so it should be fixed for the next beta update. If you still notice this after the next update, please post info on which abilities are still displaying as selectable when they're your Priest sub-class auto-grant. It's something we need to fix per ability. Thanks!

New party member constantly attacks team
crystalis78 replied to Answermancer's question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
It looks like you're running into one of our known AI issues. One of our programmers is currently looking at this bug, and hopefully we will have it addressed for the next update. In the short term, the only way around this issue is to not assign any Behaviors to your party members. :/ To give you some idea of what's going on - each of the Behaviors you select for your party is a list of abilities they can perform, with conditions for when they'll perform them, and targeting guidelines for who they should use those abilities on. Those behaviors include higher Power Level abilities that aren't available in the Backer Beta. Right now, when the AI reaches one of those entries in the list, it can't find the ability. The bug is that, rather than discarding the entry, it treats it like a basic weapon attack. It then looks at the targeting information for that ability, and performs a weapon attack against whoever that ability should have been used against. This is all fine, as long as it's picking combat abilities that should be used against enemies. Unfortunately, it's also doing this for abilities that would be self-targeted, or used to aid an ally. So, rather than using a healing spell on a low-health party member, they attack them. Or, rather than placing a buff on themself, they'll bash their own face in with a club. Super helpful, and exactly the behavior you're looking for, I'm sure!
