  1. That seems pretty straightforward to me. Anyway, does Sega of America even have internal game development staff? Thing about AP is that it's obviously got a voice and a design philosophy that's hard to imitate. Who else would they hand this off to? Maybe the system of "developer comes up with pitch, sells to publisher" isn't always how it works out. Obsidz would be under contract to put their own spin on Sega's ideas. Or maybe the guy just didn't choose his words carefully.

Wouldn't have been the first time the gaming press has written something dumb.

Hey Sawyer, I was wondering if you could tell us a bit insofar as Damage Threshold is concerned. I've tried explaining it to people and they tend to get confused. In the first 2 Fallouts it comes in before resistance, right? So if I'm being hit with a 10 HP spear attack and my armor has DR/DT 25/02, then the DT reduces damage to 8 and the DR reduces it further to 6. Is that how it works?

Here's Pete Hines: "well it didn't take very long before wild guesses in forum posts suddenly became the basis for a "news story". 2010 feels a lot like 2009." The shine is coming off of these rumors pretty fast, eh?

At the time in which the FO universe diverges from our own, train travel was still relatively common, and even in real life, cargo freight is common. Besides, in VB it's the NCR who ultimately make train travel viable. Coal is a cheap and abundant power source.

Like Josh said, train travel is the most plausible post-apoc "fast travel".

Feargus showed up in the BG games, remember? Black Isle had producers working on the Bioware games. Anyhoo, I'm skeptical about the vehicular portions, what with Josh saying this some years ago about VB: I don't picture Josh really springing for vehicles. Maybe it was something the Bethsoft demanded? Maybe it was part of Obsidz' pitch? Or maybe it's all bull****, who knows.
  8. MCA only just recently started work on the game. The first stuff is likely coming this month. Any word on what the February (read: January) cover of Game Informer is going to be? We all know how they love big reveals.
  9. It's also unlike other Bioware games in that intra-party plotlines and dialogue happened randomly, as opposed to in lockstep with core path milestones. Whinge all you want about lovetalks right after slaughtering a dragon, they didn't feel staged. Running into Jaheira's curse for the first time is genuinely bewildering. There are very few "what the **** just happened?" in CRPGs since then.
  10. I hope you're all happy.
  11. And now he's dead.
  12. Google alerts is picking it up quite a bit in '09 Vaporware lists, on account of Sega's brilliant handling of the missed October release.
  13. Yeah I noticed that. Also, Shale = racist? Really?

Be sure to put the silver side of the disc on the bottom, that should fix your crashing issues. Seriously I have no idea what you're talking about.
  15. use mediafire. Upload limit at 200 megs, no waits.

Hey Sawyerpants, In general terms, how much does your F:NV system resemble SIMPLE? I'd assume they're not exactly same, but I think much of the design philosophy was, how you say, "off the hook". DT's in. What else might we expect?
  18. Seems to work pretty well in FWE! It goes to 100ths of a pound.
  19. I was wondering about that as well... I've yet to run across a schematic for ammo. Does the CALIBR mod add weight to ammo?
  20. Wanderer's Edition actually contains all those mods and it actually works surprisingly well and fundamentally changes the way you play Fallout 3 (for the better in my estimation, but it's definitely a matter of taste) pistols become useful, shotgun shells become precious resources, most of the skills become more useful and you can't specialize in more than a few, you're no longer invincible (you have to run and use tactics with most of the battles, and the dart gun becomes 1000x more useful), healing becomes tougher (there's an optional "triage" mod that requires you to have surgical tubing in order to apply stims to limbs), sprint and slo-mo add some tactical elements, and there's even a bit of variety added in PC backgrounds (I'm playing as a ghoul, which means feral ghouls are neutral to me and environmental radiation slowly heals me and reduces my rad count drastically, but there are other backgrounds that change up where you start, your equipment, modifiers to your skills, etc.) that really add something to the game up until the point at which you start the main questline and all of a sudden you're from the Vault (F3 being what it is, however, you can delay that for a long, long time) It's actually one of the more successful full-game conversions I've played. I'm wondering if Sawyer has played it, since it seems like it'd be up his alley. There are some balance issues, but nothing particularly egregious.
  21. I don't know, I think BG2 kind of took a step in the right direction with the romanceable CNPC getting vamp'd. In the later stages of the "romances" they mainly revolved around how they could survive and function given the state of the PC and things he / she was involved in. That felt alright to me. Fair point on romances staying out of the critical plot, though. There's a certain amount of danger involved in making your critical plot contingent on the PCs affections towards an NPC that the player may or may not identify with (at least, with people who think a lot about games as we do) One of the things that annoyed me about Fallout 3 was how concern for my character's father was largely foisted upon me, when I didn't find the father character or his life's work particularly interesting.
  22. So is anybody going to answer my question?
  23. Tour of the Normandy yaaaaay
  24. So anybody using mods? Any good ones? I'm using MMM and Enhanced Weather and the former seems really cool, at least. I'm wondering specifically about FO3: Wanderer's Edition. It looks really great, but I've been burned terribly by total game overhauls before. Anybody played it?
