  1. ^ ^ ^ ^ ^

If you want decent range or melee build, then just pick single-class Monk - on L8 they get Resonate touch skill, this skill  with max might add ~25 raw damage for each your hit, on L9 they get Whispers of the Wind which currently the best unlimited mult-target ability in the game ;)

So for example if your enemies stay together each Blunderbuss hit can generate resonate on each enemy in blunderbuss AOE, 5 FULL ATTACKS HITS with Whispers of the Wind on 5 Enemies can generate 10 Resonates for each enemy which equal to ~250 non avoidable damage per target, but the real fun starts when you pick Kitchen Stove, with +2 projectiles update, now after Whispers of the Wind you can generate 15 Resonante per target in blunderbuss AOE and 4 per target (and may generate up 40 resonates for random target in) from Kitchen Stove which is something like 19 Resonates ~ 400DM per target, which in summary may get you ~2500 DM per single ability ;)

  2. You miss situation when you has middle defenses and high armor, when you don't want to receive crits very often because then armor will be useless, good example is Devoted/Paladin without shield, you will have good AR but low deflection, +20 deflection will make you completely immune to boss crits

  3. Okay, I want to point for everyone who think that BDD is cheesy and better than healing - that is not true ;) Let me show simple example

    1. First guy is Paladin with 21 AR - This guy usually reduce all incoming damage by -300%, he don't need BDD but need healing
    2. Second guy is Marauder Streetfighter/Berserker - This guy is require BDD because there no exist others ways too survive damage peak instead of deflection stacking and out-healing
    3. Third example is Helwalker/Devoted - With Plate armor - do you think that BDD will be better than Unbending ? No because your own Unbending cast will give you 30s of immortality, when BDD will give you maximum 12s

So everyone complains only about Glass Canon builds that can survive damage peaks long period of time, because they sacrifice their armor and deflection for DPS purposes ? Yes in this case BDD is better, but you should understand that in other games exist alternative mechanic for such builds:

    AGGRO system
    Life Leaching
    Evasion
Red button passives with long cool-down

So if we talk about Solo then you will need special Priest build, this mean that if you can't kill all enemies in ~40S you will die (do you think this is proper GOD mode ? I don't think so)

If we talk party then BDD can be threaten as cheesy, but again ask yourself what the difference between -300% DM from Paladin and 12S of God mode o 30S of Unbending ?

If you can get GOD mode for unlimited period of time then yes, this is cheat, but you can always increase duration of lay on hands with salvation of time and get 20hp per 3S for 30S, or get Blade Turning for 25S ...

But to counter such simple mechanic, Obsidian can add BOSS which will disable all beneficial effects for short period of time... In Grim Dawn exist boss who by timer dispel all your buffs, if Obs will add such boss n the game be sure you will hate him much more ;)

  4. Very stable and cool build, good job

I have played with same build, but instead of Banquet, I used Hylea Food for additional +10 deflection and Injury which reduce corrode armor rating by 2 and fortitude by -5 + I picked Fire Godlike (because of +1 armor rating) and Helwalker Monk (with maxed resolve and middle might / int ) + I used cloak which scale with history

BDD does not depend on ANY modifers and can prevent infinite damage for a duration. This is also known as God Mode, which in every other game I know is a cheat. To allow the base duration of BDD to be extended in any way means opening BDD to all sorts of abuse and cheese.

But you forget to say that Arcane Dampener or any other effects which reduce buffs duration usually mean instant death (that why my latest build can't kill BoW dragon solo), on other side full-healed character for example with Unbending can survive such spell

So you can easily dispel GOD mode,

There also exist Babel spell in WoW and similar mechanic in Dota and BG series also has scrolls with immunity to different things (Undead, Magic, Weapon)

  6. ...

Mathematically you right and I really like that this spell give us one more way to survive a lot of damage, but technically BDD is GOD mode, i.e even console commands like KillAllEnemies (which can kill Ukaizo during transitions) can't kill guys under BDD effect, under BDD effect you can get more that 3 injuries and survive instant death abilities ;)

  7. The second funny thing is their PL system, I think only few people can explain what +2PL or +1PL mean, this is like magic, let's look on simple example

    1. Monks fists DM/PEN scaling - 7PL - Mean +11 PEN, +16ACC, DM 60% and 12PL mean 14PEN, 28 ACC, 90% - 28 ACC the highest weapon accuracy bonus in the game
    2. Rogue sneak attack - 7PL mean ~ 45% DM and 12 PL - 70%
    3. Any martial ability +5% to base damage per PL, any magic ability +10% DM per PL and +0.3 PEN, +5% ? to duration

  8. That's very true.

As a matter of fact, I was using the word "funnily" in an ironical way ;) , since it doesn't make much sense that a -35% malus can have a very different impact, depending on the build it's applied to.

I personnaly don't understand why Obs didn't go with multiplicative modifiers only. In my opinion, this is what makes the more sense. And if they were affraid that it would be possible to stack to many bonuses and reach a stellar overall bonus, a simple fix would just have been to lower some bonuses.

.... or just set bottom and upper bounds ... but the real problem with their system isn't player's misunderstanding, this complication cause that even their own developers don't  understand how this should work ;)

The real example is negative crit modifier - which lead critical strikes do less damage than normal strikes

Or enchants which should balance something like +15%, -15% negative effects

Or grazes which cause -75% addictive damage instead of lowered resulted damage by half

Or penetration +3 difference in armor lower damage by 300% and +2 difference lower them only by 75% - (I'm think that original idea was lowering incoming damage exactly by 75%, 50%, 25%, this make sense because then you will be able damage bosses with high armor )

    Or ....

In summary Deadfire is good example, why developers must always prefer simple things over complicated ;)

  9. Man you do a good job, and I will help you in testing your Shifter mod, but not in current patch, now after 1 hour of game-play I get huge FPS drop and that infinity animation loop... It occurs every few 5 - 10 minutes for me ;(

While we waiting for next patch, maybe you will develop PL8 - PL9 abilities I really want to see pure Shifter with Aspect of Galawain or Dragon form ;)

  10. I agree with @thelee the problem is infinity resources, Obsidian if you read this topic please don't nerf BDD or Salvation of Time  ;) At the end Troubadour can cast His Heart Did Fill With the Light of the Dawn fast enough to make Doom Hammer st-unlock and smash bosses without big problems

  11. Nope, I mostly tried more... offensive configurations (often two-handed) and multiclasses. Oh, and I also didn't really use consumables :p

But yeah, good point about large shield. I'm sure a pure monk with a large shield could do it. Still it would be a bit of a balancing act: getting enough wounds to keep blade turning up and surviving. Blade Turning is really nice with SoT though.

Yes, I don't talk about consumables, if you worrying about Wounds ranger guys will generate them enough, you can also equip Heavy Armor, but even Devil Caroc will be enough

  12. As I wrote, I didn't test pure classes :p ... except for Barb, I think.

Yeah, the twins would be a nice perk. But for my builds they come at level 19 :p

Blade Turning is also good... but there are also pretty nasty rangers there (plus 2 casters), so that might not be enough.

So you never try ;) One big shield and Blade Turning will complete this fight pretty fast, you spawn copies and Blade Turning that it

I don’t think this combination really qualifies as an issue, but by now I know better than to put forward rational arguments when it comes to the game’s balance.

My issue is unlimited Suppress Affliction + BDD + Salvation combination, this make 2 guys in your party immune to everything, death, afflictions ...

To my knowledge when it comes to suppress Affliction, it only affects debuffs currently running on the char. If a debuff is reapplied then a new combat check is made and suppress won't work unless recast. Last time I noticed this was vs Fampyrs spamming domination on a playthrough I had a few weeks ago.

Yes, I completely forget about that, never-mind, but  unlimited Minor Avatar or Shields for the Faithful is also very strong ;)

  14. Well, sure, but:

    1. I don't really play single classes, as I feel I would be missing out on MC options

    2. I care about gameplay from level 1 trough level 20 (well, actually 10-20, I'm willing to go with13-20, but not at levels 16(19)-20 only).

I generally test characters at level 13, pitting them against Xaurip encounter on Neketaka island. Most fail that test, though I'm willing to provide some handicaps for "party" characters.

Oh, did you test L13 monk ? ;) How Character with Blade Turning and The Dichotomous Soul  can lose this battle ?

Maybe make Salvation to only extend a base of 5 second duration, and make brilliant gives resource every 12 second instead?

This change will make Salvation of Time completely useless skill, because it's duration doesn't scale with INT and PL

    > Make brilliant gives resource every 12 second instead

Why then not regain 2 resources per cast ?

  16.

About BotEP, which is a good single-target, yes, but also about Eager Blade.

    As for 1h choices:

Grave Calling? That's on vessel kill only, right? A cool trick with a Chanter is possible, but Can the ChillFog penetrate most enemies on PotD?

Hel Beckoning? Come on, Fort save? Sounds weak.

Sungrazer I haven't used, so don't know the magnitude of the effect, but it needs BOTH a kill AND critical hit to trigger? Typically two-handers require EITHER kill (Engoliero, Oathbreaker) or crit (Amra, LDV) or some other effect (hitting near dead enemies for Eager Blade). Requiring both, it'd seem not very likely to trigger very often.

Or did you mean the 5% chance effect?

AoE weapons are for trash mobs, it doesn't matter what defense u target, you will not use it for a boss with 150+ fortitude defense anyway. Sungrazer is pretty good on a rogue, although it's on kill & on crit, the damage is pretty high, also aoe from the on kill proc can trigger that 5% chance effect too, so it's not as low as u imagine. Same as the soulbound dagger, it has a 10% chance AOE effect which can trigger itself.

If you need AOE, just pick pure Monk, their L8 - L9 skills the funniest melee skills in the game, they work both on Single Target and on Multiple Targets, do decent damage

  17. Yes, this is my favorite combination of classes which I currently play Skaen/Streetfighter and Ascendant  ;) Don't forget to buff both Priest & Cipher with Barring Death's Door and Suppress Affliction + you can have unlimited Priest summon (with Unlimited Robus inspiration) OR  take new cape, that summons illusions, cast on them Barring Death's Door  and enjoy 5 priests guys with Unlimited resources

But yeah, I think Obsidian should simple remove Briliant Inspiration from the game, it is to OP and just restore 1 - 2 class resources per ability cast and stop Salvation to increase Ascendant duration

This fix will resolve all issues at least for this combination

  18. I'm curious to see what would happen if armor recovery penalty got below 0 into negative number. Would it make your recovery faster than if you weren't wearing armor? Would it just stop at 0? Is there a way to make this happen in game(eg with abilities or talents) or would I need to cheat to test it?

I assume that technically you can get zero recover with Scordeo's Edge proc, because it give you instant recovery for all abilities for short period of time
