  1. SChin's post in (Another) crash on start-up was marked as the answer
    Hello Andkyng,

I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble getting Deadfire to launch.  The most likely reason from what I've seen is a networking program called Citrix.  Other users mentioned that their Citrix receivers had updated and prevented them from launching Unity based games from Steam. Upon either rolling back the update to the receivers or uninstalling the program altogether, they have all been able to play their games again. I'd suggest trying this, as it has helped everyone with this issue so far. I'll link a forum post about this below.

This should resolve the issue, but if it doesn't, please let me know so we can look further into your particular case.

Thank you and sorry for the inconvenience this has been causing.

    Hello Chris,

I'll give my response in the spoiler button below so as not to reveal what occurs here to any other forum users who haven't visited this scene yet.

I hope this helps clear things up Chris!
  3. SChin's post in Character transfer confusion was marked as the answer
    Hello Murray,

Sorry for the confusion you are having with the Character Creation.  The PoE importer only imports different decisions that were made by your Watcher in the first game as they can affect what occurs in Deadfire.  Now that Deadfire has newer choices available for Character Creation, we made it so that players must recreate their watchers how they want them to be whether it's the same or new.  Your Watcher will also be level 1 again as they have been weakened after being crushed by a giant statue, so they will need to gain experience and choose their abilities again.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to let us know!  I hope this helps to clear things up and I hope your adventure through the Deadfire archipelago is smooth sailing

Thank you for reaching out to us Murray!
  4. SChin's post in Crash directly when starting the game was marked as the answer
    Hello Maxxus,

I'm sorry you are having trouble launching Deadfire.  We have had reports of this happening for some folks and all of those users had reported that this was caused by a networking program called Citrix.  Citrix updated their receivers which caused users to have trouble launching some of their Unity based games on Steam.  The same users report that rolling back the update or uninstalling Citrix resolved the issue for them.

Please let me know if this is the case for you or if we need to look into this further Maxxus.

Thank you and sorry for the inconvenience you are having.
  5. SChin's post in [Performance] Should I be able to play this game? was marked as the answer
    Hey everyone,

Sorry for the performance issues some of you are having.  BMac is hard at work doing what he can to improve performance where he can, including the 4.0 issues.  The Programming team ended up adding in a lot of graphical options including lighting, shading, ambient occlusion, etc. to give people the option to turn them on or off to help performance.  For the font, there is also a Font Scaling option that lets people increase most UI text to 130% if needed.

I apologize that there are still performance issues for you folks and continue to hope we can get some more fixes as well as some support from Nvidia to resolve these problems.

Thanks for reaching out to us about these issues everyone!
  6. SChin's post in Xoti Won't Talk was marked as the answer
    Hey Jangoolie,

I took a look at the report and it looks like they tested this every which way they could think of and can't get this to occur, even with your save files.  There are a couple of things I could recommend that might help.  The first would be to attempt a repair of the game files or uninstall/reinstall the game to make sure there are no corrupted or missing files that might be causing you this issue.  If that doesn't work, then I would ask that you send us an updated save file where we might be able to progress past the conversation, but that won't really fix any underlying issue that you might be having.  Please let me know your result and we will go from there.

    Thanks again Jangoolie.
  7. SChin's post in Cannot "continue" or "load" a game from the main menu was marked as the answer
    Hello Occupant,

I'm sorry Deadfire isn't recognizing your save files.  Would you be able to reproduce the issue and then send the output_log.txt file and a group of some affected saves to me at support@obsidian.net along with your forum username and a link to this thread as a reference so we can test them on our side and see if we can reproduce the issue?  If needed, you can find instructions on how to obtain the output_log.txt file here.

I'm also curious as to what game version your copy is currently running.  This should be displayed in the top right of the Title Menu. (ex. v3.1.1.0032 LAX12ABCDEF -steam)

Thank you Occupant, and sorry for the inconvenience this is causing your playthrough.
  8. SChin's post in [bug] Rekke reads Seki, but he's not there was marked as the answer
    Hey everyone!

Thank you for reporting the issues!  Fortunately we already had this one bugged and it is fixed.  The fix is currently awaiting a future patch to be implemented along other fixes.  Keep an eye on the Beta Patch branch for the latest patch notes to see when this is brought into Deadfire as it will be released there before it goes live on the Default branch.

    Thanks again everyone!
  9. SChin's post in Another update (3.1.1) another missing DLC bug was marked as the answer
    Hey Rperdue,

What operating system are you using and what platform are you using to play Deadfire.  LAXF is an update to the base game that just needs to be updated to the latest version which should be v3.1.1.  I can see about potentially sending you the folder that has LAXF, but it depends on the OS and platform.

Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience.

    Hello again hbCyber!

Thanks again for all the help hbCyber!

    Hello again hbCyber,

I'm sorry you ran into another crash.  I have taken the information you provided, put it in a bug report, and sent it to the QA and Programming teams for investigation.  If you happen to discover anything else about crashing during level up, please let me know and I will forward the information to the programmers so they can use that information during their investigation.

Thanks again for the help and sorry for the crash bugs you've run into.
  12. SChin's post in Crash when entering Kraken's Eye was marked as the answer
    Hello hbCyber!

I apologize for the crash you ran into at the Kraken's Eye.  We have had issues where some players intermittently crash during what appear to be random transitions between scenes.  Unity got back to us last week with some ideas for a fix and that has been implemented into our developer branch.  It is currently undergoing testing and will likely come out to the Beta Patch branch soon and assuming everything goes well, will then go live in a patch.  Thank you for the extra data as we will still be reviewing it to make sure the fix is working for all locations.  If you happen to notice anything else about these transition crashes, please let us know!

Thanks again and sorry for the inconvenience this crash has caused.

  15. SChin's post in Problem with bounty quest was marked as the answer
    Hello Slectric,

I'm sorry the quest didn't fail for you and thank you for bringing this to our attention.  I'm going to have the team take a look at fixing this issue and see if there is something they can do about the save file as well.  If you discover anything about this in the meantime, please let me know so I can inform the dev team.

Thank you, and sorry for the inconvenience this has caused.
  16. SChin's post in Bug?-Aloth's personal quest doesn't show up was marked as the answer
    Hey Rilan!

I'm sorry that Aloth has grown grumpy and will no longer share his quest with you.  I asked one of our Area Designers about this and there are a few different triggers throughout the game that cause Aloth to once again share his quest with you.  I don't want to spoil anything for folks here in the forums, so if you want I can Private Message you exactly where those triggers are or if you want to keep going for now so as not to spoil it, you are more than welcome to do that as well.  If you would like more information, please message me at support@obsidian.net as it is a quicker way to reach me

Thank you for your support Rilan!

P.S. Your English is great and much appreciated!
  17. SChin's post in [Bug] Reloading sometimes makes ship crew eat everything in sight (and charge me massive overtime) was marked as the answer
    Hey everyone,

This is indeed a known issue that is in the process of being fixed by the Programming team.  We hope to have a fix soon and I believe Architekt is correct as I have seen other people report being able to reload the game as a workaround until the final fix is implemented.

Thanks for reporting the issue and sorry for the inconvenience it is causing.
  18. SChin's post in cape of the falling star - lone traveller was marked as the answer
    Hey Downstroy!

Very observant of you!  Both of these things are bugs.  I checked our bug database and it looks like these issues have already been fixed by our Programming and Systems Designer teams.  The fixes are currently being tested by the QA team and are likely to be implemented in an upcoming patch soon!  Keep an eye on the forums for the latest patch notes which will show the bug fixes being implemented to Deadfire.

As a more direct response: The pet should not count as an ally and Lone Traveler is intended to provide deflection but is not currently displaying this.

I hope this answers your questions.  Please don't hesitate to reach out to us again in the future!

    Thanks for the help!
  19. SChin's post in How do I claim the game? was marked as the answer

  20. SChin's post in Animal Companion stuck in wall was marked as the answer
    Hey Crinrict!

Unfortunately, what happened to your poor animal companion was that it got pushed into the wall.  During combat party members are allowed to push each other a bit to get through and make navigating tight combat easier.  This causes characters to be able to be pushed into walls or other places where one is not normally able to navigate to be stuck.  This bug has been submitted into the system and is assigned to the appropriate dev.
For the situation regarding your rogue discovering something, the only hidden discoverable I am aware of is in the trap room.  There is a skeleton of a person who as crawling to the wall.  Between his arms is a hidden button to open a door in that room.  Could this be the discoverable your rogue picked up on?

Let me know and thanks for reporting the bug!
