The way I see it is, hasn't Heaven always been reffered to as being above us, and Hell, below us. Well, we have been above us, and have learned a good deal about below us. There was no evidence of a Heaven, nor a Hell. So, then it changes. "It was just symbolism." I just have trouble believing something that can be taken literally one minute, then symbolic the next. That is however, my skewed perspective. I don't pretend to know about religious text.

I don't, although that's an argument that hangs a lot on how you define the words 'faith' and 'belief'. I have bad memories of arguing that at length with someone, quoting several different dictionary sources. I, and most atheists I think, would say that I have beliefs, but not faith. This is not setting my beliefs up as incontrovertible fact or as better than the beliefs of Christians or Buddhists. It merely reflects the fact that these beliefs were arrived at by a different process (by reason rather than by revelation) and I'd like that distinction noted. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You're right, I have used the word "faith" losely. Well, I could say that there is no evidence that a god/s doesn't exist, and that absence of evidence, as you say, is fact.

What most people need to realise, athiest and otherwise, is that what you believe is just that, a belief, not a fact. I see it more with athiests than other's when it comes to debates of the subject though. Too many people try to pass of thier belief as fact. Don't get me wrong, I am an athiest. I feel that athiesm is as much having faith as any other religion, it's just a matter of what that faith is.
