  1. I ask as Im on my forth of fith restart due to various bugs, influcnace not counted diapaering people, npc not turning up (bounty mission and yes I know what the trigger is) characters not talking to me, swoop bikes, slow downs, crashes currupted saves etc. Should I put up with this and play the game again or wait for the patch?
  2. I dont think its a bug the "problem" is that no matter what you want you are an unarmed specialist, probably due to having the lightsaber taken from you or somthing, though this isnt explained. SO you can specialise in unarmed automaticaly but you have to spend feat points on specalising in melea or ranged or lighsaber so you are always better in hand to hand than an unmodded weapon for me saber has to do above 5/6 min damage a go to be better than hand to hand.
  3. This is for the handmaiden and for visas. I do deeds that I know should affect them one way or another they comment on it but no message shows up to indicate if the influance was counted. So is this working or not? edit: I think I can now answere my own question after looking at Dan Simpson's influance guide there are now no more influance points for the handmaiden and she still wont talk to me about atris. same with visas and I havnt even got her "gift" Restart number 4 coming up
  4. Ive had this problem too. right click before the race starts keeps me in the right place. However after 1 fail in pratice he now always says I havent finished. Reloading and starting this part before ever talking to him got rid of that message but I beat the fastest time by 3 seconds, but according to him I was still last and won nothing. But then talking to him again I learn Im the champion! Coupled with the many other bugs this game shipped with who ever playtested this seriously needs a new job and the QA people who said it was ready for release do to. Its a great game but buried beneth a mountain of bugs.
  5. If you do swap your card the best current nvidia cards for performance / money are either the 6800gt if you want to spend that much or better from a performance/ price perspective is the 6600gt.
  6. Sorry it happens to you but Im glad its not just me. I restarted the game and it still happens as well. I dont understand why.
  7. Every time I start a race and almost every practice the damn thing starts in mid air (i.e the higest point of every jump) I miss all the obsticles but also every speed boost. Edit. to clarify this is after I click to start the engines, the swoop begins in the correct position but as soon as I press anything to start it I jump up and stick there. edit 2: changing the controls doesnt do anything. Also enter does not start the swoop bike despite what the manuel states dxdiag info below ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 2/10/2005, 23:11:33 Machine name: SHODAN Operating System: Windows 2000 Professional (5.0, Build 2195) Service Pack 4 Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: NVIDIA System Model: AWRDACPI BIOS: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG Processor: AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3200+, ~2.0GHz Memory: 1024MB RAM Page File: 194MB used, 2291MB available Windows Dir: C:\WINNT DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) DX Setup Parameters: Not found DxDiag Version: 5.03.0001.0904 32bit Unicode ------------ DxDiag Notes ------------ DirectX Files Tab: No problems found. 8. It was (and still is the cat 4.12 broke things again havnt tried 5.1) ati problem actually. At the release of kotor they hadnt implemented soft shadows into the drivers properly. There was a post from bioware about this .So it was initaly disabled though you could hack it on, it took 2 ati driver releases to enable softshadows However softshadow performance on ati cards is still slower in this game than on nvidia cards. the cat4.2's had the best softshadow performance but its been getting slower ever since. It took them (ati) almost 8 months to fix the area load are crash bug. As regards the crash issues this is again an ati issue relating to the way buffers are cleared iirc. Hense why this problem occurs in some drivers and not in others. Oh and dont blame bioware for only 3 patches either. Its lucas arts who have to pay for and authorise the production of pathches for their games. Its was they who said no to any other patches, there was a thread on this on biow's forum months ago. Also it was lucasarts who set the release dates for kotor2 I just hope they give the go ahead for a patch for this or obsidian's rep at least for reletivly bug free games will be ruined on their first game.
  9. http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/kotor2/preview_6116951.html In other words we get all the balance issues the xbox version had and little if anything has been fixed due to feedback.
  10. Activision could be the publisher in europe. It publishes most of LA games over here it did all of the Jedi knight series and KOTOR1
  11. I don't believe there will be bonus material. The timeline we were given to finish the PC version is pretty short and does not include time for making changes to the interface other than fixing any bugs QA finds. That doesnt mean we have the xbox hud on pc + no mouse control does it?
  12. The question is in the title. Do we know how many devs are still working on the pc version?
  13. Im an archeology student (self funded) in the second year of my PHD
  14. Uk England Derbyshire Glossop SK13 8DN There now who can find me :D (As for the teen bit I personally hate how they repeat "init" endlessly)
  15. True but howmany people have one? Then again Im sure save data could be brought down. They did it for deus ex after all, bringing it down enough would be another matter. But apart from the save system is there any other reason?
  16. I hadnt thought of save games. It would have to save quite a bit a data.
  17. What version pixle shaders are used in the pc version 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0?? Same question with vertex shaders please
  18. The problem with KOTOR on ATI cards has only existed since the release of the 4.3 catalysts. Before then there were no problems at all with ATI cards and KOTOR, so don't blame Bio - it's ATIs crappy drivers that have been at fault. This is a consistent problem with ATI, in that their latest drivers sometimes "break" older games. For instance this year I was playing KOTOR, Thief 3 and BF:Vietnam all around the same time on my PC, but to get all to work properly I needed to have cat 4.2 for KOTOR, cat 4.4 for Thief 3 and cat 4.6 for BF:Vietnam. Now I don't know about you but I don't have the time to be reverting to old drivers and back again every time I want to play a particular game. One reason I am considering going back to Nvidia again when I get my next card. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually before the 4.1 cats softshadows didnt work on ati cards (exept very slowly) This was a driver bug rather than biowares fault though. I agree that from the 4.3's softshadows and framebuffer effects have been getting slower, the 4.2's are the best for KOTOR. I cant comment on the 4.9's as I havnt tried them, yet. Here's a good page from biowares forum that shows performance upto cat 4.5 http://swforums.bioware.com/viewtopic.html...352372&forum=80 I still get area load crashes on all the cats I use on my 9800(inc 4.2), though I heard this was fixed on the 4.9's? (I havnt had any trouble with my 6800gt and it doesnt crash for me on area transitions)
  19. See, just the fact you feel that way shows you're taking a video game too seriously. The point of a game is to play it, not be a centerpiece for little outbursts on feelings of neglect. You feel like you're treated like "dirt" simply because you have to wait two additional months for a video game? Either you're mentally disturbed or need to grow up...... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well Im sorry if I dont like being lied too, which by any streatch is what LA and unfortunatly by extension Obsidian has done. That is what bothers me. Are you purposfully trying to be insulting?
