Whatever background you created for your character in BG1 - aside from his/her upbringing in Candlekeep - was as relevant as that of the marine in Doom.

Just got Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor, a DS SRPG. Seems pretty good so far. But, it goes back on the shelf as I need to finish Knights in the Nightmare (which I would easily recommend to any SRPG/shmup fan who isn't Morgoth).
