NHL is back
I remember hearing Pronger say that his three least favourite teams were Calgary, Vancouver, and Colorado Now he's probably just saying that, but it made me giggle (yes...giggle...not laugh...but I actually went "heheheheheh" with giddiness)

Diablo III on the rocks
Which begs the question then.....what game IS a CRPG?

Diablo III on the rocks
In that case, I contend that TOEE is not a CRPG...too much focus on rules. PS:T....Too much focus on story IWD series, too much focus on combat.

NHL is back
I don't know if you ever listen to The Bear (or if you can even get it in Grand Prairie), but I agree with Yukon Jack when he said that Battle of Alberta has been resurrected pretty much overnight.

Diablo III on the rocks
How do you quantify elements like story, rules, and combat?

NHL is back
Having said that, I'm not sure if you've been in the Edmonton Area (you live in Saskatchewan don't you? Bah I can't remember), but the place is abuzz with hockey excitement. I'm all geeked up, and am curious how everything is going to pan out. It's one of the rare times I can't clearly pick the obvious favourites in the conferences

Diablo III on the rocks
Couldn't you categorize almost any RPG in that manner though?

NHL is back
I don't know if he would enjoy you singing ABBA about him though

Diablo III on the rocks
CRPGs = Roleplaying games on the computer? Seriously. The definition of a CRPG is about as subjective as they come. There are those that claiming the death of the CRPG, when the "birth" of the CRPG was games like the Gold Box games. Which ironically, where hack and slash games. But hey, if you can't answer the question no need to get snarky.

NHL is back
They're a talented team still. But good goaltending always seems so important doesn't it.... What teams have won without a stellar goaltender? And how could I forget Fernando????

Diablo III on the rocks
So what is a CRPG then?

KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
Fortunately this is the Computer/Console forum, which allows us to discuss whatever we want, not just Obsidian titles.

Diablo III on the rocks
That would certainly explain the Gold Box games.

Jack Thompson
That's why I'm here!

Jack Thompson
Oh yeah. I wasn't stating that in defense of Mr. Thompson.
-
Jack Thompson
Well, in that same interview he mentions that his goal is to destroy rockstar.
-
Jack Thompson
There actually was some points that he raised in that radio interview that I also agree with, so it's not just you Squidget

A Wicked Game I Thought Up
I like the women! EDIT: Although relationships between Masters and Apprentices make for interesting stories, including betrayals and redemptions as well as vengence. When a tight bond is created between the Master and the Apprentice, when something happens to one the other is challenged in a variety of ways.

Fanboy/Fangirl Take 3
Eliza Dushku. I remember her from as far back as True Lies

A Wicked Game I Thought Up
I think they could play the Master-Apprentice relationship really well if they wanted. I think it'd also be neat if you progressed to a Master in the Master-Apprentice relationship as well.

But the #1 reason that CRPGs aren't dying...
I think the only reason why a console RPGer would be less likely to play a PC RPG is because he doesn't own a gaming PC. It's still a move to a style of game, regardless of what platform it's on. After all, Final Fantasy games no longer feature anime characters with horribly exaggerated features like FF7. They still have a similar art design, but games like FF8 and FFX seem to indicate a trend towards more realistic looking characters. KOTOR 1 and 2 were both insanely popular sellers, and have been the gateway RPG for gamers such as GoA. Many people I worked with loved the open ended, do whatever you want style of Morrowind on the XBOX as well.

But the #1 reason that CRPGs aren't dying...
My take is to not worry about it. Bioware still has a PC only game in development, and it sounds more ambitious than any of their previous projects. Furthermore, I see increased exposure for console RPG players to play RPGs that aren't just like the JRPGs and whatnot. It lends more to the validity of western RPG styles. I'm optimistic that Fallout 3 will do the same, should it be released on a console. As clearly indicated by companies such as Obsidian working on NWN2, Bioware's Dragon Age, and Bethesda's Oblivion.

Is the swoop bike racing amazingly hard or what!
Meh, I always found the swoop races to be rather easy as long as I didn't do anything stupid.
