Well I think with all the OP class/abilities we have now, it is kinda hard to make a challenging PoTD playthrough even they add a few more enemy per encounter. I’d rather nerf the OP things instead. I soloed the beta with a few classes/combos, some are nerfed, some still remain super op. Yeah, sure, but PotD still needs some blanket difficulty buffs. At least the devs have recognized it

Though only a small percentage plays PotD, those who do play it are some of Obsidian's most dedicated fans. Someone who starts Deadfire on PotD has most likely bought and played through Pillars 1 and all of its expansions, and probably has already shelled out for Deadfire and all of its DLC. Those are the kind of fans that you really don't want to displease.

I don't want to 'complete everything' i want to complete everything as i like it would be completed. i like peaceful outcomes, and 'resolve' sounds like peaceful option. It's good from an RPG perspective. To pick an option that requires Resolve, you need a strong, confident character. For an option that requires Intellect, you need to be particularly smart. If you aren't those things, you can't pick the option. I can't see anything wrong with the system.

because dialogue options with Resolve was often and near end game they require about 19 points. which is crazy, specially if you didn't know how resolve heavy dialogues in this game. and when game force you to spend points in useless stat, just you could say what you think is best in that situation, is justify people's grumpiness about it. imo. You lose nothing with low resolve. You can complete everything just fine picking other dialogue options.

First impression on full ability tree

Single class ranger with Twinned Shot arquebus? idk At least whirling strikes seems pretty cool -
It's honestly been very easy for Cohh so far. I feel like the early game lacks enemies you really got to watch out for (like spirits in PoE1). I'm not trying to hate on Cohh since he is a very nice person, but I was watching him struggle on Sky Dragon on Hard difficulty in PoE1 a few days ago, mainly cause he wasn't curing terrify or utilizing accuracy buffs. He's not very experienced in Pillars of Eternity at all. Though it is a possibility the game actually gets more difficult now as it progresses, so lets not lose hope yet.

I find it interesting how Avellone and Fenstermaker describe completely different experiences. Also, sadly non-compete clauses wherever you can get away with them seems the standard in the game industry nowadays. I don't think they're "completely different experiences". Rather, they're just worded differently. Not to mention Eric's comment was made yesterday, when parts of the interview was done a long time ago.

Pretty good timing to dump all this info. Sounds like he is trying to smear Obsidian's name right before the release of Deadfire

Portraits II

Damn, Aramintai you're on fire -
When I first started playing, PotD proved to be a reasonable challenge. I specifically remember using up all my skills to beat the ogres in Caed Nua and the lighthouse spirits in Divinity's Reach. But I'm sure a lot agree that once you got a hang of the mechanics, regular Path of the Damned became fairly easy. Now the logical step might be to bump the difficulty to Triple Crown, which surely is a good choice for some time. Though in the end, I feel expert mode in particular makes the game less fun to play, and I'd rather just play a higher difficulty setting. I'm especially worried that now that the playerbase has the knowledge of Pillars 1 on their side, PotD will die just that much quicker. There was some talk of this when Deadfire was first announced, but I haven't heard anything since. Could this be something that's implemented later on?

I feel the system is very fluid and interesting. You don't need to micro to eat food anymore, and there seems to be plenty of it in comparison to Pillars 1. I don't think the resting system in Pillars 1 added much. There were always plenty of supplies, so you didn't really need to care about casting spells in tough fights. And if you really were out of supplies, all you had to do was run to town and back to fill yourself up, which just added unnecessary delay. The new system looks better than the old to me.
