Actually, there is this meltable hotel up in the north. Haven't been there, but it's supposed to be kinda neat. There is an ice bar here in Stockholm, though, which I haven't visited either, but they hand out warm clothes and stuff to keep you warm. Stockholm won't be white for too long, though. It usually melts away pretty quickly and then it's just rainy until January.

We're getting it here too now. Thin snow is starting fall on the streets like powder; Stockholm, Sweden is officially turning white.

It is still their choice. It's not like the world stops if they don't play in the NHL. Playing in the NHL is a privilege that is subject to certain rules specific to their organization, and if a player doesn't like the rules they can play elsewhere. Which ultimately is their own problem and something they'll have to evaluate themselves. How is something "akin" to physical violence illegal? Hold on, are you saying that what they are doing on NHL rinks is illegal? And if so, how come the NHL hasn't been punished for their illegal practice and how can you be so immoral as to follow it? Hahaha! I'm not sure you're aware of it, but you can be really funny in a not-so-charming way.

You are so PERCEPTIVE. I was mocking your grasp of the options available to a player. The draft will assign the rights to sign a certain player to a certain team. This is the agreement among NHL clubs to ensure a fairer playing field; clubs are effectively giving up the chance to go after any player in order to avoid mercenary activity among not-yet-so-levelheaded youngsters. The players then have the option to sign with the club that drafted them or sit out until they become eligible for the draft again. They can also go the FCP route and demand their rights to be traded. If they don't like this draft situation at all they can play in another league. The NHL has a draft system, so if you want to play in the NHL you go through the draft. If I want to work at Volvo I go to an interview and hope to get the job, and the point is that you can't always choose or like the rules of a certain organization. You might as well start complaining about on-ice rules: "I don't like the hooking penalty; players should be allowed to hook because they're living in a free world and hooking isn't against the law." Call it a silly comparison, but it's exactly the same thing. I just threw up a little.

You do of course realise that there's a cap on entry-level contracts? Any team could have the top ten prospects in the league and still afford a couple of superstars safely under the cap. Ooookay. Good to see Roli bounce back with a shut-out. I watched Pittsburgh rout the Flyers last night and I can't help but smirk a bit at Derian Hatcher. To me he's always been an untalented, cheating hockey player who finally gets exposed as such in the new NHL. It's obviously got to do with him exercising his clutch-and-grab hockey against the Oilers in all those playoff series that the Stars always won, and now to get to see a kid like Crosby undress him is more fun than a good Owen Wilson comedy. I like this new NHL for that reason alone.

Moreau will be missed, but he should be back sometime before the playoffs and hopefully we have the depth to make it anyway. Regarding tonight's game, I hope Pronger falls over and breaks both his wrists after scoring three own goals and demanding a trade. Then Lupul gets the game-winner.

And I must say that Datsyuk's moves scoring that goal afterwards were pretty nasty. Good thing the Oilers came out on top in the end.

I've been fed with virtually every rock classic ever made today on the radio. Some are good, some are not so good.

There is something special about those late night/early morning sports events. You sit there wrapped up in a blanket with some coffee or even soda and snacks, and it's all quiet, dark and still outside. It's nice.

4 am is in that awkward do-I-stay-up-for-the-game-or-do-I-go-to-sleep-and-wake-up-insanely-early-instead zone. "Luckily" they don't show those games very often anyway, and this time it'll be on around noon tomorrow so I'll watch it after I get up. I don't have a problem with games starting at 1 am or 2 am, though (I watched a good deal of those in the playoffs).

Let's see some pest toasting instead.

Yay, I'll be able to catch my first Oiler game of the season against the Wings! Interestingly, the next game they'll be showing over here is our other home game against Detroit in November.
