I'm not one to speak up on P&P of course, but Stephen Amber's point seems right to me this time. It's always been the case that every class has its own powers, and they all come from some sort of 'source' that justifies it. It's just that the 4th edition goes and formalises that into separate 'Powers', which I think makes it less realistic and sounds ridiculous, but it is not an aberration in terms of substance.

1. More performance optimisation 2. A key roleplaying opportunity we have not seen very often, such as the OC's trial 3. An in-depth and varied depiction of economy and factions in the city, making a few very good ones as opposed to a lot of them with only two choices or with Biowarian 'good' and 'evil' 4. More tactical combat which makes better use of environment (think IWD2 in IE), and enemies are distinct and require different tactics than just being meat-sacks for your weapons in another colour

Yep, saw that too. I don't think anybody expected even screenshots of TBH until 2009, but hopefully we'll see it before the turn of the decade Considering how I'm still waiting for some BG2 total conversions...

It really depends on what it does when it's in the registry, and how hard it really is to get rid of it - but yeah, sounds like no Mass Effect for me then.

http://www.oneplusyou.com/bb/zombie - What Are Your Chances of Surviving a Zombie Apocalypse? I suggest that http://www.howmanyfiveyearoldscouldyoutakeinafight.com/ is equally illuminating. Just look at Akira, we're going to have five year olds swarming for our bottlecaps, never mind the zombies. (I got 19.)

Sounds like VATS, Patrick. And yes, I do understand that you are only confirming that it applies to one special attack at this point in time.

Oh. Uh... Hrm.

Oh, dear. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albania To be fair, it's not that old.

First update, Hildegaard now leads with 3 points. See first page for table. We don't have HTML here or anything, so I was forced to.... screenshot a Word table. gah. ed: Yes Gorgon, sum Nigerians are taking ur monii as we speak

Well done Hildegard, 3 points in the bag as Portugal qualifies for Quarts. Just realised I didn't follow my own format, d'oh.

Stranger things have happened. Well, the Czech have scored, so my score is already out.

I haven't played some of Adam's recent things, but while I can see where RangerSG is coming from, Adam is not really trying to make that kind of work. His work can be bet described as a zany performance. You're not really meant to get absorbed in your role and feel a sense of a traditional, believable verisimilitude. You're supposed to be half role-player, half art gallery man / spectator, while Adam pulls all his tricks to show you just what he can do. And that's not necessarily a bad thing: the great thing about video games is that you can have all such kinds of different types of consumption in a single medium. Of course, if this kind of thing is not waht you appreciate, then Adam's work will never be more than an interesting gimmick for you. That's fair enough.

Well, of course. I'm surprised the Swedes aren't in court with them It's a fair enough attempt by Lesbos, but they are kidding themselves if they believe it will work..

I don't think we've enabled HTML on these boards, so I might just do a simple list, or even do a table in word and copy it in. Not a big deal, we're not going for flashy. That will happen after tonight's games. My predictions: Portugal [2] v Czech Rep [0] Switzerland [0] v Turkey [1] Italy [2] v Romania [0] Holland [1] v France [0] Croatia [0] v Germany [2] Austria [1] v Poland [2] Sweden [1] v Spain [3] Greece [0] v Russia [0] Remember that you can only predict until kickoff: if you miss tonight's kickoff you can still predict other games in the round.

My apologies, I was working on the thesis. The thread is now up here. Everybody paaarticipate!

Bievennue et Gonnichiwa to the Euro 2008 Prediction League. The main activity involves ,predicting the outcome of each game, including scores. A correct <i>result</i> nets you 1 point. A correct score (and thus result) nets you 3 points. The man with the biggest, uh, score, will win the game. Prizes may or may not be included in the package. We have missed the first round of the group stage, but at least we all start on an even footing. I know everybody will pick Villa for Top Scorer now, but I think that's okay, again, that's your prerogative. [Currently In: Finals]

That's probably the fair thing to do, for you guys. You don't want bad info spreading this early. Personally the article is a throw-away, since it tells us nothing new (or, in fact, nothing substantial), and the console wars, well... ugh.
-
Wow. The first half was boring as hell so I just got myself another hour of sleep, but it seems you guys scored after all. Congrats. edit: I didn't know there was so much interest in the Euros in OE, or I would have suggested this earlier. I am currently involved in two prediction leagues (where we just predict the scores on the forums and I give out points) and the fantasy league. The latter requires a bit more time investment, but is anybody interested in any of them? I could whip up an obsidian prediction league today and we can go from Round 2.

Ah, so Lute Hero was Adam Miller's. Well, it's time to try his work out again. I remember his earlier ones which were pretty good, and he had this crazy horror-ish story as well. I don't think you can ever really get into an Adam Miller mod in terms of the type of 'immersion' we are familiar with, you are always aware that this is a sort of virtuoso performance from the man and it is wry - but that's not necessarily bad. This new direction he seems to have taken with crazy UIs and games seems to fit that, and it's an amazing technical accomplishment, to boot. That video really makes me want to play that game.

Van der Sar is great. When you look at him he doesn't seem that great, but after a while it dawns on you, I think. I thought De Jong was rather pedestrian compared to Engelaar, and a more determined and less tepid attack would probably put more pressure on the rather average Dutch defence. But if they can carry this momentum against an absolutely boring France, they're at elast out of the Group of Death and give their best creative players (RVP, Robben) a chance to get back. Spain currently 3-0 up against Russia with a few minutes left on the clock. Russia has looked amazingly dour, and you can tell Hiddink wants to kill the entire squad - oho, a consolation goal from Pavlyuchenko from a corner. Still. Hiddink always said 2008 was too early, but today's Russia team wouldn't hold a candle to Hiddink's Korea or Australia. Luis Aragones continues his little game with Raymond Domenech, namely, who can come up with the most inexplicable squad decisions. They have the best playmaker in the world in Cesc Fabregas and a fantastic striker in Fernando Torres, but he refuses to use pacey wingers or a midfield system to benefit them, even leaving Fabregas on the bench for a completely useless Xavi. Villa's hattrick will cushion this kind of logic, but unlike Holland's case, I don't think Spain have been tested today and it was just an easy game - we will see what they are made of i n other games. Edit: Case in point - That's 1 goal and 1 assist from Cesc Fabregas, having played less than 40 minutes. Nothing from Xavi, who hardly bothered to run up in support.

I dun' trust these new-fangled solutions, Wals, but let us know how it works.

It's something that they should never ever have taken away with the NWN1 'era' of crpgs, and it's lovely to see it return. Replay value right there, surely.

3-0, and that's the first truly entertaining game in the tournament. Excellent viewing, and it's always good to see Italy lose. Good to see Van Persie get some match fitness and he was unlucky not to score with a great shot. When Robben comes back and Huntelaar gets involved Holland will be formidable.
