Anyone knows any good builds for a ranged cipher from a reliable source?

As someone who is just getting into the game, why do you feel that Mechanics is so important? Without mechanics you can hardly pick locks, can't absolutely spot and disarm traps and find hidden stuff. Yea, so i guess there's a huge amount of traps and locks to pick then? Thought Lore would be pretty cool for different speech options etc. Mechanics > Lore then?
