  1. I am not 100% sure, but it might not be a bug. I read something about that when you first kill Marvaek at Caed Nua. You get basically 3 options after you killed him, you need the 3rd option (to absorb his knowledge) to be able to enter a secret room with a valuable item (artifact) in the 9th or 13th level of Od Nua. I believe it was the 9th, where you are atm... but I can not confirm atm. Just wanted to let you know.
  2. I don't want to start a negative spiral... Your right that every game these days due to complexity has game bugs. But there are some really severe bugs in this game that should definitely have been caught in testing, I really wonder what the beta-testers have done because there are issues everyone is having now (serious bugs) that should definitely have been caught in beta or other testing. 1. Save game bug with characters gaining perma stats for example 2. Stronghold bug with mobs perma spawning 3. bug where saving and loading takes longer over time. Apparently its already noticeable people being 20-30 hours into the game (Act2). There are a few more serious issues where I wonder how this was not caught before. I love the game, but because of some bugs I have no choice right now but to continue when the bugs are fixed. This is not what I paid hero edition for
  3. I am 20 hours into the game and I have not noticed any difference with saving and loading what so ever. But my PC specs are a bit insane... So that could explain. Hope I won't notice this over time, we'll see. You guys also have this issue with SSD's that can read/write with 550MB/s ? p.s. Do you think its possible to delete all the save games while you have the game loaded? And after deleting (assuming certain save files are not locked) you just save the game again and maybe the save is now normal again without losing your progress?
  4. Sigh, that explains why Hardmode became easier by the time I cleared the later parts of Act 1. I will confirm tonight on my characters, but I most likely have this too, as I save a lot of times and quickload as well. Especially in the temple as I died many maaaaaaany times over and over again. :< If this is true, I can't continue playing tonight which sucks!! And I don't feel like starting over again, as I already did that 2 times (cuz of other (knowledge) issues) Hope to see this fixed ASAP, until then I wont touch the game. (If affected) :S
  5. Mind telling more about the equipment bug (sorry if I hijack the thread). But I hate it when someone mentions something without putting in some more background information. I hear some scary bugs on the forum... First the load bug where if you load in at certain locations where you picked up the companions and the companions have certain stat boosts they will be added permanently. Now I hear something about a equip bug, which sounds equally terrible. I would like to avoid your misfortunate.
  6. Is it easy to check? Like if you press 'C' can you see it in the statistics? Or is it like 'hidden' stats that you can not see? Oh man, I get a bit worked up over this. Game breaking bug t.b.h. if this is indeed confirmed. @Jazou Agree. If someone who can reproduce this bug report it in the technical part of the forum. I will check tonight if I am also victim of this bug.
  7. If this is true, then that is a real shame. I suppose the masses don't like a elaborate crafting system then. But I think its really a fundamental part of RPGs. Oh well, I still enjoy the game.
  8. Artificial difficulty is not always the good type of difficulty. Having boss take 20 minutes to kill and 1-2 shot player is not difficult but retarded and cheesy and shows a total lack of effort in developing AI. Having robust AI for enemies and various skills and mechanics to play around is more interesting. Sure people can go PotD solo with trial of iron and expert mode but will that be fun? I doubt it would be for me. I did Ironman in X-Com and my save LITERALLY got fked up on the last boss just before entrance to his very room! Man was I pissed. I know what you trying to say, but you should also know that I was not talking about having a boss take 20 minutes to kill. I was referring to the average difficulty when you challenge normal mobs on the hard difficulty. If you read the explanation when setting hard, it also notes that you need to drink potions, use buffs and eat food buffs accordingly to overcome challenges. But so far I didn't really had to pay attention to this at all, which makes me think as well the game is not too punishing on hard. However, right now I want to focus on the bug people talk about, it might be that my characters are affected and they suddenly have stats higher then they should have because of the loading bug people refer to here. If I am indeed affected, it would explain why my characters are starting to be more viable now. I thought it was because they are now starting to be on equal/outlevel the enemy's and the addition of 2 ranged classes who deal a lot of ranged damage with a very long reload time (40-50 damage with erabus is nice). If there is more info about this loading bug I would really like to get as much info as possible, so I can avoid this as much as possible as it is literally a game-breaking bug. And I would need to start over again for me to enjoy the game as it is mend to be played on said difficulty.
  9. Wow, I have to check when I am home if this happened to me. If I read the 'bug' like you described I might have been a victim. As I have (quick)loaded the game a lot of times in all areas. so most likely also the Area's where I picked up the characters. I don't understand why such a gamebreaking bug has not been fixed pre-release though? There has been plenty of beta testing, not? I hate to have to restart again if I am indeed victim of this bug, as it seem like you describe permanent.. I am playing very slow and elaborate clearing all mobs etc, I am finally at that point where I have finished all stuff in Act1 accept for 1 thing. (22 hours gametime). I already had to restart 2 times because I did not have enough knowledge about skills and classes, and had to remade the character to play A 3rd restart would start making me Q.Q a bit.
  10. I see mixed opinions which is good. If I have (out of the top of my head) think some positive reasons why the crafting system is so limited on weapons and armor. It would probably make balancing the difficulty easier as you can set a baseline of average damage output a class can produce and adjust the difficulty accordingly. Whereas if you have a indepth crafting system and after elaborate time you successfully craft strong weapons, the difficulty would suddenly be too easy because you became 'OP'. Right now, Weapons and Armor are very basic in the game. For me personally that is a letdown, because I think crafting or getting/finding legendary items is part of a process in RPGs that I really enjoy. But on the other side, right now the combat is very consistent and rather then having to focus on your OP weapons, you need to worry more if your accuracy is high enough or if you applied the right buffs and/or debuffs. So, if my theory Is correct this might be why the crafting is so limited. But at same time I am here to provide some feedback and I can't help but find it a shame that the crafting in the game is so limited right now.
  11. Hello, I don't see any section of the forum where you can post about things you like to see improved or better for Pillars of Eternity. So I would just start it in the general discussion thread. I made an account specifically to write this (hehe). I really like this game a lot, I love the story (so far) and I like the setting, difficulty (so far) and all the general RPG elements are here in this game. I am 20-22 hours into the game, and I am still in Act 1 as I like to explore every bush, stone and corner of the map and clear all mobs and want to take my time to choose carefully what textual decisions I go for that suit the type of person I want to play. The only real downside of Pillars of Eternity, and I must say this is a really big let-down so far in the game. And that is that the crafting system feels very basic and boring? I really hope that I am wrong and that there are still tons of recipes to find in later acts etc to craft stuff.... I tried finding some info about crafting on internet and I am afraid its as limited as it is currently. A big part of RPGs that I enjoy, is finding materials to craft very strong armor, legendary armor or whatever. It is part of my character growth besides leveling and skilling up and learning new abilities along the way. But from I see so far, the crafting is very very limited in the game. And it is very disappointing and I would have really loved to see a very indepth crafting system where crafting the really good stuff takes quite some time to find all the necessary materials and/or unique materials that only drop from specific bosses/mobs. Such a shame, because I feel that if there was a indepth crafting system in this game, like so many other things in this game that are indepth. I would give this game a 10/10. But because of the boring / simple crafting system I would give this game only a 7/10. It still in the positive, but at the same time a big letdown because this game could have been given a 10 if the crafting system was as elaborate as many other aspects in this game/ How do you guys feel about the crafting system? Was it a choice to make it so easy and limited? I would like to hear your thoughts.
  12. But, if the 'hard' difficulty setting is too easy, there is always Path of the Damned right? Would make sense to make this thread if that difficulty setting is too easy. I find it a bit strange to complain about a difficulty setting being too easy when there is still a higher difficulty to try. Same if I were to complain that 'normal' is too easy, would it make sense? That said, I noticed in Act1 that the start was particularly hard, I had a lot of difficulties beating the 'Shades' mobs in the first town you enter (In the underground temple). I was however level 3 with a party size of 3 / 4, while I later learned they were level 5. I am a bit further into Act 1 now and my characters are level 4, nearing level 5 and I can win fights more easily now. Its still too early for me to say if hard mode would turn up to be too easy. However, if it is, I can always start attempting Path of the Damned. If that would be too easy, I will start complaining
