I was actually surprised Torts didn't pull him after the 3rd goal

What a game. Glad that Marty's mistake didn't cost us the game because he made some extremely solid stops. Devils were outshot 28-15 and manage a win...Marty is still Marty.

I didn't say you couldn't blame him lol...I just said you can't put ALL the blame on him. Regardless of whether or not his coaching style handcuffs players they need to find a way to produce within the system if that's what they are paid to do. Look at Kovalchuk. He's been forced to play responsibly since he arrived in Jersey and he sure as hell struggled with it at first - but now he's back. It is simply inexcusable for Brodeur have the same about of points as Richards and Gaborik have even strength combined. They'll need to step up if they want to win this series (although I'm praying they don't )

So what was the King's record leading up to the final? 12-2?
-
The NHL Thread
1 even strength point between Gaborik and Richard this series, don't think you can put all the blame on Tortz

Brodeur has more points that Gaborik in this series LOL

Really hope that Hank doesn't steal this series because the rest of the Ranger team just doesn't play well enough to deserve a Stanley Cup.

don't call him the King until he wins something (kind of like Lebron lol) but yeah I agree, Torts shouldn't be getting any credit for that win it was all Henrik

So the Kings are on the verge of going to the Finals with a 12-1 record. 3 straight 3-0 series leads.

How do you feel about him benching Gaborik in the third? Apparently it had to do something with Gaborik not trying to block a shot on the 2nd or 3rd goal, can't remember which he was out there fore.

Devils/Rags: Devils in 6. Well rested, confident team. Brodeur has one more goaltending duel left in him. Should be a fantastic series. Only chance the Rangers have is if Lundqvist steals the series and shuts Parise/Kovalchuk/Elias/Zajac/Clarkson down. Coyotes/Kings: Kings in 6.

That was literally the laziest game of hockey I've ever seen played by two NHL teams.

Jersey also has Ryan Carter (with the Ducks in 07)

LOL proved all the "experts" wrong. See ya Flyers. 4-1.

Devils won game 2 on the road without Kovy, so I'm more than confident that the Flyers can pull out a win at home without Giroux. That said, I'm praying we close this out as soon as possible.

That video doesn't even show the worst parts. The official explanation from Shanahan really lays it out. Girioux was angry with the refs, yelled at them, skated up the ice, turned and yelled at them again. Saw that Zubrus dumped the puck, made a B-line for him and slashed his stick and then drove his shoulder into his head.

Course, that smiley will jynx it all. I am not really enjoying these playoffs that much. I was enjoying going to Coyotes games more in December when the team was not doing well. Even as I spend more money on Coyotes stuff (playoff tickets, renewed season tickets, new jersey, etc) I am trying to emotionally detach myself from the team because I am expecting the worst. It all just feels like a numbing experience. Phoenix is the only team in the West I have left to root for =/ Shane Doan deserves a cup, IMO. If the Devils don't make it out of this round, I'll be rooting for the Coyotes.

Devils push Flyers to the edge...3-1 series lead for NJ. I have to say that NJ is playing their best hockey of the year when it matters most. Scoring coming from different lines every night, absolutely dominating the Flyers so far. I really hope they can close them out in Philly because I don't want the Flyers gaining any kind of momentum.

I had no idea they intended to sit Radulov and Kosistyn for this game too. Although I disagreed with the suspension to begin with, I understood the sentiment behind it and thought they had made their point. They even showed they were capable of winning without those two in the lineup ... But now they just look absolutely stupid.

It was a great series. I would have been rooting for the Panthers if they had been playing anyone else.

Devils win in OT. Kovalchuk registers 3 points (although he still seemed a tad sluggish out there). I don't think cortisone is in the same light as the PEDs that are criticized in other sports. It's produced naturally by the body and it's use isn't really to enhance performance other than to get the user feeling a little more normal. I don't see how it would be any different than a guy taking advil before the game if he had a migraine.

He has a herniated disc in his back. Apparently it's an injury that you can play through, just pretty f##king painful to do.

Kovy is a gametime decision for game 3 tonight...I don't really get it though. Apparently it's a lower back injury, and three days ago he was so crippled on the ice he could barely skate...Now he claims to be 100%. I know that's probably a lie, but what are the chances he made such an incredible improvement with 3 days off that he'll be effective in game 3?

Devils score 4 goals in the 3rd period to win 4-1 without Kovy. Series tied 1-1 heading back to Jersey...feels good man. As for the Nashville situation...I don't know. I agree that it is pretty unfair for the rest of the team to have these two guys out (apparently) partying until 4AM in the most important time of the playoffs with their team down 2-0. Suspending them only hurts the team more though. I think a fine would have been in order.
